Isn't it wonderful to live in a country where you can start YOUR company anyway YOU want it?

I love America.

Does anyone notice that Hero having an unsatisfactory relationship with Honda sounds a little familiar to the BMC/ HDMC relationship? I somehow doubt this is a random coincidence.

BTW, that 1190RS in Hero livery was pure moto-porn...

Gonna be an interesting year!

For Erik and the Elves, the future's so bright, F the shades, they damn well be wearing a welder's mask!

>>Honda has more engineers than EBR, but hasn't released anything nearly as radical recently.
<<

Maybe not as radical as EB race bikes but as far as engineering complexity is concerned several Hondas have been up there.

DN-01 - in particular the gearbox and drivetrain. It's outstanding - regardless of what the haters say about the vehicle online.

VFR1200 - two clutches and quite awesome performance, brakes and handling.

One of life's observations: Engineers can't be more creative/innovative/imaginative/etc... than Management & Marketing will allow.

I though Hero was a sandwich.

A new news story on the deal; this one claims Hero is buying partial interest in EBR:

If this is fact, it's sad.
Sad that we- the Buell faithful- have to get factual news from India when there are people among us in the know.

Time will tell I suppose.
I wish only the best for Mr. Buell. He deserves it.

Ditto Wolf... I tried investing in Hero, and it isn't easy from this side of the pond.

Next step will be to wait for Hero to come out with that EBR designed hybrid, and talk to one of my Indian friends to see what all would be involved to get the thing over here somehow. I wonder how big and heavy the biggest sub-assembly is, and if it could go through carry on. : )

getting it here would only be half of your problems, MSOs, EPA/DOT/Ins approvals and finally the DMV...... I'm thinking you'd be better of building a "custom" bike.

Regarding Hero purchasing a stake in EBR.....Please forgive my ignorance, but, I thought the problem with HD started with them being able to purchase stocks in Buell, then escalated when they became a majority interest holder.
Is EBR already selling shares??? Does a company like EBR have to get listed on the stock exchange?
I like the idea of EBR selling technology and expertise, and I like the idea of Hero paying EBR to put their name on the race bikes, just like any other sponsor for advertising purposes, but the thought of anyone besides Erik having any control of his company give me pause.....

Note that that article did come from the Wall Street Journal. It could still be BS, but that would seem to lend some validity to the source.

I'd think the problem is not with someone else owning interest in EBR, the problem would be if someone else owns controlling interest in EBR- I think that's where things went bad with HD. Whatever else happens, you HAVE to think Erik's learned that lesson and will do whatever it takes to prevent a repeat.

"Hero MotoCorp Ltd. plans to buy a minority stake"

"The report didn’t give details such as the size of the stake, how much money would be paid, or when the sale will actually happen."

"announced a strategic partnership with Erik Buell Racing to source technology"

Sounds like the only thing written in stone is that they've formed a "strategic partnership". The rest may or may not happen. Given EBR's "fiercely independent" status, I find it unlikely that they will sell any part of the company short of an IPO.

The article is based on a report from another news agency. The author could have misinterpreted what he read.
