Blake, man, I'm with you 100%. Piece of shit website.

This is the 3rd time I've ever tried to post something up for sale. I've jumped through all their hoops, and my account SAYS the ad is active. It's not. And this happens every time. I dunno what they have against me.

What has REALLY peeved me off though is the "help". It popped up an email form like I could actually contact someone. In reality, it just sends an automated response copy of the FAQ, which I already read. Why bother letting me type up an explanation if NO ONE is actually going to look at it?!?!

i had that happen to me for awhile a few months ago. try posting something else. just make something up. it will probably work. it wouldnt let me post my tahoe for sale but it would let me post any other car i wanted. so i posted up my caprice. it showed up online, then i went back in an edited it and changed everything to the tahoe. that seemed to work for awhile. got me why.

Its called being ghosted. Its craigslist "investigating" your ad. If you used too many periods or commas in your description, it raises a flag.

Why don't people message me when trying to offload their vintage videogames???

I don't really have an interest in starting a PS2 collection, but it would nicely round out the Xbox1, Dreamcast, N64, Virtual Boy, SNES, NES, 2600, Genesis, and who knows what others that are slipping my mind.

That reminds me, gonna hit Goodwill in the morning, last time I was there I got a box of N64 games for peanuts.

SM,

What finally worked for me was posting to their help forum pretty much what you outlined in your post, except in professional tone.

I don't understand the owner of the site, he has a gold mine, but doesn't charge a fee for anything but jobs wanted ads. Bizarre.

Wikipedia is the same way, but as far as I can tell, it's run by a bunch of left wing fascists.

SM,

Here's what I finally posted to their help forum that finally got results. Feel free to use as you wish.

Please Stop Misleading Your Customers!!! 12/21 15:09:38

I've tried twice, and been "published" twice for my home for rent ad. Current ad URL follows:

http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/apa/2123912894.ht ml

I deleted the previous ad from 12/11/2010 this morning after finding that it had never showed up in the listings. It was http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/apa/2107193434.ht ml

There is NOTHING in the help forums or FAQs that have been of any use to me in resolving this so-called "ghosting" issue that is wide-spread and running rampant according to the help desk forum. Craigslist has been a terrible waste of my time and has been EXTREMELY frustrating.

There needs to be MUCH better documentation to help honest people successfully post ads. There is no guidance whatsoever concerning what may or may not be a problem when posting an ad, rather it is deceitfully accepted and termed "published", but then NEVER shows up in the listings. Seriously people, do you have ANY idea of how incredibly exasperating and dishonest that is. You are basically lying to your would-be customers. THAT IS WRONG!!!

I've been trying to rent my home in Grand Prairie, TX via an ad on the dallas craigslist since 12/11/2010. This has been my first experience with your service. It is likely to be my last. HORRIBLE!

Fix it or kill it! You are deceiving and wasting way too much time of way too many good honest people. It is outrageous. Whoever is responsible should be ashamed.

Blake

PS: If making this a pay service would help, then PLEASE do so! I'd happily pay $10 or more to post my home for rent ad.

I've had no luck with the list that is Craig's either, I've given up, and now (motorcycle related) put a paper with the tabs at the bottom on the cork board at T.W.O. among other places...

Why don't people message me when trying to offload their vintage videogames???
You never asked.
I've got PS1 XBox PS2 Genesis Game Boy among others, let me know your list of wants, and what you think they're worth.

Funny because every Nigerian prince needing money to get home can use the damn thing.

In all seriousness last time I was on there looking to rent a home i ended up having to contact the ic3 website because some SOB was representing himself as a US soldier trying to rent his home.

Its called being ghosted. Its craigslist "investigating" your ad. If you used too many periods or commas in your description, it raises a flag.

So if you write more than a few lines and use proper grammar, you're obviously up to something.

Gonna go check again, then start posting the hell out of 'em until one goes through.

Then it's off to Cycle Trader.

I'd love to get an N64 system again! So user friendly. Mario, Mario Kart, Blitz, Rush, and Golden Eye! All great games! If only Gran Tourismo was there as well.

Craigslist is a free service. It's not going to be perfect, and it's not going to have great customer service. Craigslist is used because it is free. If you're wanting to pay money to get better service, look elsewhere, if they start charging for ads they will soon meet their demise. There are numerous websites that will help you rent your place or sell your vehicle. They'll charge you money, and help make your ad perfect.
This is making me sound like a d!ck, but really, if I made a website for people to use for free, and they wanted to come to me complaining about it, I'd laugh them out the door.

Huh. Apparently you're not selling the right product. The "escorts" don't seem to have a problem posting their ads.

So you have to be smarter than a hooker? : )

Just jerking your chain...

Not sure why your guys have stuff that gets flagged - I've done a lot on Craigs sold two motorcycles, bought another, but mostly gotten and gotten rid of a bunch of stuff. Craigs is the BEST when you want to get rid of something but don't feeling paying extra to throw it away. Old busted hot water heater? I put an ad up, in 10 minutes I had 5 responses, it was gone in a couple hours. Crappy, dirty, old sliding glass doors for a shower? Gone in 2 days. I even sold my above ground pool on there - took a while but I got my asking price.

Got any use for the stuff?

You guys must have bad karma. I have ads on there almost constantly(4 right now) and have bought, sold and given away tons of stuff. As well as getting a bunch of free furniture when I made my exit from my marriage. Never once in the hundreds of ads I have put up have I had a problem like you guys.

Well, oddly enough, the bogus ad DID go through. But then when I tried to modify it to reflect the REAL ad i wanted to use, it refused to allow the changes because it was too close to an ad I'd already posted (which I had already deleted, BTW). Piss-poor programming. Cycle Trader has free ads as well. I'll stick with that. Sold my Vibe in less than a week on Auto Trader last time.

I think it only affect newer users, folks who used the list before the ghosting deal took effect were probably less likely to be effected.

there is a retired congressman from NY that loves CL. ; )

me personally, I dont like the flea market mindset, I will buy from it, but I dont want people showing up to my house, having my email, dropping me contact numbers or anything of the sort.

I did however find a crap load of pallets and cinder blocks on there for FREE; just had to come and pick up!
