Keep in mind - SR didnt write those bad things, it was readers. Dont shoot the messenger. Remember, they are the ones who published not one but TWO Buell things in one issue....pretty good.
Though, as I said earlier, I disagree with them posting two letters, both negative, and why they would do that.

I, too, get the free issues thanks to a BadWeb'er that posted a link to a free issue....but they keep sending them to me. Thats fine by me : )

I don't think it was trolling either. Just dumb squids.

I'm going to address how many ideas have been copied from buell, how different engineering/design ideas lead to new tech and better bikes in the long run, and how more competition in the motorcycle market leads to better bikes from all companies so everyone wins.

Um, is there a chance they published those comments because they KNEW they were idiots? For entertainment value?

Or someone at the magazine said "We don't want to come off as being pro-Buell; publish some negative letters."

Hugh - I cant follow you on that one.
Again, they just had two articles in one issue. I think its obvious that they like the brand, and why would they want people to think they DISLIKE the make?
That gains nothing for them

The squids aren't trolling. The magazine is by publishing their inane screeds.

Idiots abound. Most riders I've ever met were at the very least, intrigued by Buells. There are always the ignorant sheep who love to see their own venomous spew in print, more often than not, never signing their name to their work. Opinions are indeed like a$$holes, but some folks are just more anal than others, I guess.

I love having my own channel and sites. (1 million YT views!)
Anybody offers even the slightest criticism and they are immediately and un-remorselessly smitten.

Man oh man.

Regarding Buell The Man and the message he sends...for me it's like believing in Jesus without ever having met Him.

I have the books, the hats, the shirts, the tools, the gloves, and the story. I just don't have the bike.

I'm a fan on Facebook and I know the history. I spread the word as much as possible.

Tonight, even. My fiancée and I went to a relatively new restaurant concept here in Denton TX and was sporting my Erik Buell Racing cap. We were having a great conversation with the entrepreneur and he kept eying the cap and he *finally* asked about it. So I told him the story. It was the fourth time *today* I got to tell the story.

I tell it damn near everywhere I go. Everyone at work knows. Everyone I know, knows. There is simply nothing else like a Buell motorcycle. Any of them. And there is no one else like Erik. He is my biggest hero and I hope some day to be able to ride one of his bikes. Any of them.

Believe it or not, folks make fun of me for wearing a cap for a bike I don't have, or for having the tool set for a bike I can't work on yet. But when they turn around again, they're asking me what it's all about. So I tell them the story. Slowly but surely, they too are becoming fans and *they* can hardly wait until *I* have my bike so they can see what it's all about.

I started reading about Buell motorcycles when I was in early high school. It made me want to learn how to ride a motorcycle just so I could ride a Buell one day. Wow.

I learned to ride two powered wheels on an '83 Yamaha XJ750 Seca. Ready to graduate.

I have my eye on an M2 in the classifieds (the recent black one in CO) and have sent the seller a message. I'm hoping the local buyer doesn't show. (BTW, props to the seller for honoring a potential commitment to buy. That tells me a lot more about his intention and that he's not simply in it for the buck.)

There will always be nasty drivel about the best. We're here to keep our heads high, maintain support for The Man, and hope that we get to ride a Buell tomorrow.

To those that can, cheers!

Ride safe.

That's an accurate statement.

By the way . . if you need the antidote for that crap in Sport Rider . . go read the comments that have appeared on yesterdays Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel article.

"un-remorselessly smitten"

Part of my brain is stuck in some kind of infinite loop trying to grasp that concept. : )

That is the badweb equivalent of tic-tac-toe in Wargames.

You will spend more and more time attempting to reconcile that statement and less and less time posting.

Eventually you'll just sit at your keyboard and drool. Or maybe you already do?
