And we look forward to more stuff regarding those years of, "remind me to tell you about . . ." We should compile a list of all those for future reference! |

Court, I rmember the only time I met you on the road, you had two Buells in the back of a pickup. Wished I had known then how famous you were. Just thought I had met someone crazier than me. Paul |

86 - awesome name, I never gave it much thought before, just figured it to be random numbers. Im a NC boy as well. Like said above, I've actually considered writing SR about it, it bothers me they only posted the negative letters. Im am certain people wrote in, not just Buellers, to praise them for the articles, why didnt they post that? It'll be a long time before people come around to beleiving the hype. Yes, we are fans and we love them, but Erik does some different things and many just cant get past what the Big 4 do, thinking if its different it must not be good enough. One day they'll see. Hopefully its a day in 2011 when Erik Buell Racing does well in Superbike racing here in the states. Hopefully then they'll see the stuff works. Time will tell All we can do is keep riding, keep supporting, keep on keeping on go |

On a positive note, anyone see "Motorcycle Daily" today? http://www.motorcycledaily.com/2011/02/buell-are-t he-worst-of-times-also-the-best-of-times/ Seems to be echoing something Court said almost two years ago... |

Yes his designs and innovations suck big time! BTW please don't tell Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Ducati or Triumph that the guys they are stealing thier ideas from is an idiot... Sad that we have gone down so far on our national pride that we assume if it's made in the U.S. it sucks.. |

I guess the biggest thing that bothers me from the letters in the magazine are that they spelled Erik's name wrong. I see no point in publishing those letters other than for ratings. The only reason I receive that magazine is because it was free! |

Did Henrik push the S2 into a gravel pit, then decide he couldn't live without it after all? |

"Sad that we have gone down in our national pride that we assume if it's mad in the us it sucks". That isn't problem. People in the US just love to kick someone when they THINK they are down. The internet has brought out tons of critics, experts and such that usually wouldn't even take the time to write a real letter. Those letters were probably sent via email. The editors just printed them to be inflammatory. This is one reason I NEVER read that rag anymore. Not just about Erik Buell, but other things in the past |

All you have to do is look at the source. I truly hope Erik isn't bothered by any of the trash that people talk. I think that if he were really troubled he would have faded away long ago. Plus, isn't it generally understood that all press is good press ? Not sure if I agree with it but that is what "they" say right ? I just hope that the 1190 gets done and out of the way so that Erik & company can get to making air cooled, pushrod, two valvers with chain final drives and maybe even a kick starter. Fingers crossed & waiting... |

Plus, isn't it generally understood that all press is good press ? From a practical point of view, for a tiny company such as Erik Buell Racing is at the moment, I think that's absolutely true . . . . . . but I can imagine it's tough for anyone to hear something that they've poured their heart and soul into being bad-mouthed. And even if 1000 people say good things and one person says something bad, it's the bad one that gets remembered. |

Ok, this may not address the criticisms leveled at Erik, but as a relative newcomer to Buells, I would like to say something. I rode over 1300 miles one way to get to Homecoming last year, not having previously met a single person who I knew was going to be there. I did it because I wanted to meet the man behind my bike. I had a great time meeting some of you, going to race track, riding around the area, and going to the banquet. But, by far, the highlight of my trip was actually meeting Erik Buell. I met him at Erik Buell Racing and he was so nice and patient. He signed many bikes, including mine, and seemed so happy to do it. It was pretty hot out and I was pouring sweat, but he smiled and put his arm around me for a photo. I was amazed how nice he seemed. He made a lifelong customer out of me that day. I will never sell my XT and if Erik makes a bike that I can afford and ride for more than short distances, I will find a way to buy one. I don't know how to get this message to Erik, but if anyone does and thinks he would like to read it, please pass it along. I like my bike alot. I have a feeling that if I had the opportunity to actually get to know Erik, I'd like him even more. Great work Mr. Buell. |

The biggest problem is you here from the person who has nothing good to say second or third had or in print, but you NEVER here from the guy who has something good to say because he thinks it isn't important to say. |

I think the letters reveal the desultory attitude of the writers- not a creditable critique of Erik Buell... and that's exactly why Sport Rider published them, I believe. |

We should start a motorcycle publisher magazine that does nothing but RIP writers who make wild accusations or just blabs without theory of thought. This could be comical and a punch in the face of the writer for misleading readers. Main headline... (BASHED writer) Sport Rider Magazine...Well heck at this point we could just call this BASHED Magazine, bash headlines, political, manufactures, corporations, bash things that pee's you off. Donald Trump Bashed Bashed US Government stupid wasted money...god the list could go on and on. I would buy this monthly magazine |

Well, I started this thread because I wanted everyone here to know about the comments and rise up a bit. I feel there has always been more credibility associated with print vs. the internet and I thought those letters were really full of crap. I was upset that they printed them, and upset that guys writing in even had those opinions of Buell and Erik. I could go on here, but I am choosing to put it in a letter and mail it to Sport Rider. SPORT RIDER 831 S. Douglas Street El Segundo, CA 90245 I hope a few of you will do the same and show them that There are a few educated riders in America... Here are some basic points in my letter. 1. Why would you print the letter of a guy dissing Erik for potentially speeding on a quiet bike, then post pictures of the 1000 Ninja testride with your rider almost dragging a knee on a public street? This would indicate that either A. you guys pretty much break the law on just about every testride you take (which on many cases you have admitted to and published ina positive fashion) or B. you guys are posers and like to ride 35 mph corners and act like you are hanging off a bike (would that be squid chrome?). I won't even touch on the wheelie picture on the cover... 2. You print letters complaining about noise of Harley's. Sorry to say, but even living in Wisconsin, I can hear more I4 race exhaust bikes screaming around the highway more frequently then the rumble of v-twin. And the squids are far more annoying. Once I have truely collected my thoughts, I will publish my letter I mail in here. |

I wouldn't give them the satisfaction. Ignore their troll-bait. I bought either a Motorcyclist or Sport Rider issue for almost a decade. Cycle World and Road Racing World and BadWeB provide all the moto info I need. |

"I wouldn't give them the satisfaction. Ignore their troll-bait." I disagree. The two letter writers don't quite measure up to "troll", just meathead squids. Go ahead and shoot them a letter or two. I like SR for their technical articles on riding, riding safety, etc.... I think I'm still getting them for free... Aint nothing wrong with a little letter writing, just to keep their editorial aisses properly in line... |

Umm, wow Blake, bought individually or 'scrip? Big $$$ off the shelf... Try out The Horse sometime. MCN doesn't suck either, well worth the $$$ for the subscription... |
