GM failed to sell Hummer, so they will be closing down that brand, as well as Saturn and Saab. I really is a shame that the management of our largest motor companies have completely lost any contact with reality. But considering the way they have squandered their great brands and business opportunities over that last twenty years, I guess one should not be too surprised. |

Haven't these guys ever heard of lowering a price? "We can't get $xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xx for it, so we're just gonna throw it away." ~SM |

I thought that they already sold the hummer name to some Chinese people. I think I read that Saab was purchased too. |

Yup, Saab was purchased by a Dutch company named Spyker. |

No, they sold it. China's government decided to intervene and stopped it after it was all pretty much said and done.
quote:as well as Saturn
They did have a buyer for Saturn, but the details couldn't be worked out. Deal fell through.
quote:Saab
Saab is still alive for now GM's management in the past was horrible, but when Wagoner took over as CEO he started to straighten things out and undo the damage. "Good GM" only started to bear fruits in the second half of the last decade. Now they are better than ever. Unfortunately the damage was long done for many of the brands, and fickle consumers and the crappy economy lead to the killing off of the brands. |

Interesting ,if a bit heavy, reading. "My Years at General Motors" by Alfred P Sloan. I know nobody else that has read it. I must be part nerd. |

That's too bad about Hummer. I really like the H3. The interior reminds me of a bigger, more practical Jeep Wrangler. What is the last year of production for the Hummers, specifically the H3? |

i never really cared for the H2 or H3. spent to many nights out partying and playing in civilian H1's. god what memories! and it is really hard to land an H1 on its passenger side doors, but it can be done with enough alcohol and a big enough rock solid frozen snow pile... |

Hummers. Every time I saw one of those overblown monstrosities on the Long Island Expressway, I knew Enzite didn't work. If there really were a true "Natural Male Enhancement" product, there wouldn't be that many Hummers on the road. |

All Hummers are out of production as of Jan 19th. They are quite excellent vehicles, I was looking into getting a H3T Alpha with the V8 so I can throw the Buell's in the back. Then I found out you can't get the V8 with a manual |

I've driven an H3 with the 5 cyl in it, it was ok but rather like driving a mailbox with those little windows; Also driven a Humvee, but that's something else again. |

It's far worse... While suckling on the government teat the new CEO is getting a 9 million dollar bonus! How the hell does this happen with BO owning the place? Now just because the new Bozo has no clue he has to hire the old CEO back as a consultant for $3,000 PER HOUR! Way to go Government Motors! http://finance.yahoo.com/news/GM-CEO-Whitacre-rece ives-9M-apf-362235582.html?x=0&.v=5 I did get a wild ride in an H1 hummer on part of the race course for the Baja 1000 off road race. 70 MPH over stuff that you think is going to tear wheels off when you hit and it just sucked it up. |

There's THE Hummer - as in HMMV WRONG! Not to nit pick, but the HMMWV is a Humvee. The Hummer is everything else ie, H2, H3! |

H1 = The Army drives them through everything!.... with 3 wheels on it! I want one too! H2 = This H1 is loud, rides rough, and is too slow for LA traffic. And I can't afford the gas. H3 = Our H2 is too big for my wife to get in and out of or park at the mall. |

I like the short windows, my magnum is set up similar. Wonder what the prices will be on an 09 in the summer of 2011 when I can trade off the magnum. I like the idea of a bigger suv with a manual too Froggy, I don't know who else even offers one tho. That's what first got me looking at the H3. |

Badlionsfan, you can get the 5cyl with the stick, but its not manly enough for me I don't even think you can get any full size trucks with a stick anymore either, I will need to check into that. Pso, they saw the writing, and came out with little econoboxes. Nobody wanted them, everyone wanted a big V8 in a 20ft long car or truck. I don't give a damn about gas prices, I still want a V8 with stick in a RWD midsized unibody pickup. |

Good riddance, I hate what GM turned Hummer into. It used to mean a real off road capable machine, not a glitzed up Suburban. F GM! |

Big, heavy, slow, gas guzzling, 0lbs towing capacity (on regular cab, will void warranty if attempted). I am still working on getting Lemonchilli to bring this over:

Hummer? Give me a break, all they were were re-bodied GM SUVs . Get a Tahoe, throw some big tires on it, and chop off some front and rear over hang. I'm glad they got rid of it they were following Harley's style of product. Throw on a couple parts to an existing platform and you got a whole new line of vehicles to sell. |

The Hummer H2 was built on its own platform. The front end (A-pilliar forward) was straight off the Silverado 3500, but everything behind that was new. Similar with the H3, which shared the front end with the Colorado, but the back half was different to accommodate the different length and wheelbase. |

Good riddance, I hate what GM turned Hummer into. It used to mean a real off road capable machine, not a glitzed up Suburban Used to mean? The H1 is still around in it's military version. Btw, the military HMMWV is made by an entirely different company. GM licensed the name Hummer. |

the military HMMWV is made by an entirely different company Both H2 and HMMWV is made by the same company Am General. Gm bought out the "Hummer" name and partnered with Am General. Both H2 and HMMWV are on the same property. |
