Reading BadWeb provided significantly to my confidence/purchase of the mighty XB: you folks are to blame! : ) I visit UKBEG forum regularly, too: http://www.ukbeg.com/ It offers another perspective on the motorcycles and is a good resource for me. |

Many other forums actually make it a bannable offence to bump a dead thread unless you got a really good reason to do it. Some other boards auto lock threads after a few months. Only flaw with the archiving here is that it does it based on thread count, not age, so on the quick board its in the archives after 2 days. |

I really think the archive feature as it's used here is awful. Does it really save server space? Would it not be the same to just have a subforum act like vB and keep all threads in chronological order of most recent post…so you have a Page 1, 2, 3… at the bottom? More importantly, so when you respond to an old thread, it actually gets bumped up to the top of the subforum? Otherwise the archived threads are only half as valuable as they could be, since no new information can be garnered from them; and, that practice essentially creates the need for MORE server space, as someone must create a new thread when looking for new information, rather than just bumping the old thread with a small question. |

Nobody said anything about the archives saving space. They are not stored any differently than any other page as far as I know. |

I jump around on different forums. KZRider, Jeepforum, HarmonyCentral, Hell even ShavedheadCentral - this is the best. The categories are great. It loads fast for me. Fewer douche-canoes here then other sites. And for some reason I never have a problem finding what I need with the search feature. (Other sites search suck IMHO) Don't change a thing. |

Out of bordem I downloaded Netscape 0.91 to play around with, it dates back to 1994, and Badweb is one of the few places that seem to actually still work in it! (This was posted from that browser) |

I agree about the clunky archiving here. |

The archive is kind of goofy, but this site along with most any other forum is pretty much intuitive. BWB has that hand-made sort of one step above a BBS thing going for it. Simple and easy. Every other forum I belong to uses Vbulletin which is neither here nor there, you just get used to seeing it though. |

The archive system here may be clunky but I've never had a problem using search and finding what I need. The search options here are great. Other sites I use have very limited search options and are a PIA to find anything. Yeah, they're prettier but less useful. I love badweb just the way it is. |

Hell, I'd be happy if Blake would just choose another color. The Badweb scheme looks like a 15 year old computer case. ~SM |

I'd be happy if Blake would just choose another color. Can't break with tradition. Like everything else here, there's a story behind it. I believe it's in the BadWeB history section. |

Can you change it for only me then? Or is there some rule that Badweb must be a color that no other website would dare use, except UPS? |

Holy crap! Something can still run Netscape 0.91? I thought Microsoft would have made the OS incompatible with it. |

The old netscape is awesome, it won't load 99% of the pages I tried. It said wtf is a youtube.com. Here is badweb on Vista 64 bit with Netscape .91!
Here is a link to download it, it dosen't even install its just an exe ftp://ftp.sillydog.org/pub/ns1/w32/n32e091.exe |

Heh, next thing you know you'll be trying to run Scorched Earth, for old time's sake. (Actually, I REALLY wish Scorch would run on new machines!) For those unfamiliar: http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/Tragic+Hero/befor e-there-was-worms-there-was-scorched-earth-74849.p html ~SM |

I like how fast Badweb loads, thats way I spend so much time here. Spell check would be nice but thats what Webster's and works word processor is for. Spell check isn't everything what a lot of us need is a grammar check just because a word is spelled right doesn't mean it's used wright. I would spend more time on XLForum if it didn't take every page so long to load. |
