I am buying a white 03 XB9R tomorrow. I am getting a good deal, so even better.
I haven't ridden in a few years (ok, 8 yrs), so I'm rusty, but lookin forward to it.

Sweet! I just bought my first buell on Sept 27th. I've already put 500 miles on it and couldn't ride for a week. You'll love it!

Take the time to get used to the way the XB turns.

It goes where you look it turns that well.

Shred's going to cry!
His first Buell was an 03 XB9R.
Unfortunately it is no longer, he loved that bike. He says often that if he could he'd trade his XB12 for one.
Congrats, and welcome to BadWeB!

Congratulations on your new motor bicycle.

My first Buell twin was a 2003 XB9 too. I have always regarded that bike as a future classic. Mine was a Lightning.

After I had the bike about 3000 miles, I posted some rather extensive notes on the subject. They are a bit out of date at this point, having been written some three years ago, but you might find one or two useful items .

Here is the link. It is the second entry on the thread.

Welcome to the Asylum:-)

Congratulations, I love my 08 12R(my first Buell, second street bike). Definately a different experience than riding a high strung I4. The cornering isn't much different than my old bike, but my old bike was also a little 400. Side by side, the Buell is a little bit taller than my old Suzuki Bandit 400, wheelbase is approximately the same. The Buells handle almost telepathically, I have yet to be able to really drag some knee, at points where guys on the metric sportbikes are struggling just to keep up.

Congrats and welcome!
I just bought my first Buell, an 03 XB9S, on Sep 11 this year. It is FANTASTIC. Like you, I also had not owned a bike in many years (10+) so on the advice of a couple "full time" local riders I took the intermediate class with a local training school (TEAM Arizona). Cost was $125. I highly recommend you talk to riders in your area and get some recommendations on a good local training school. It's fun, you'll meet riders, and you WILL learn useful info. Info that will keep you safe and could save your life not to mention might lower your insurance. My insurance company gives discounts for taking a training class. That savings alone paid for the class in no time.

Good luck, be safe, and WELCOME!

Congrats man! I just got my FirebolT XB9R as well. Its my first bike, but man, I don't think I'll get tired of it. I have ridden an R1 and a 600CBR, and I'd rather have the Xb9R. Its just so much fun, and sounds better, and turns more heads. The instant torque is also a plus. Enjoy man, be safe!

I spent the day removing stickers and giving her a bath. I already love her.
I rode around the neighborhood in my MX helmet (gotta buy a street).
What a difference...I used to ride a 1981 Yamaha XS850.
Thanks for all the welcomes!

Congrats on your first Buell.

I just bought my first Buel, a 2005 XB12S, my 12th street bike.. and my second Harley product, on September 15th, 08.

I bought it Brand New it had only 13 miles. I think the dealer had it as a return from some clothing store store display. Needless to say I got a killer price $7000 out the door, tax and license included.

I love this bike, it's a looker, definitely can't get confused with an import bike.

So far I've put on HID lights, had to hide the ballasts and install the horn outside. Put on some 3M Clear Bra stuff on the tank where my belt hits it. Installed a pair of European FIAMM Freeway Blaster 130db/each horns. Buell Saddle bags, Garmin Nuvi 205W GPS NAV.

To come are Jardine AL muffler, remove the air snorkel, K&N filter, xopti inside Custom ECM maps, Trunk Bag, tank bag, Bar End mirrors and I'm sure I'll think of more stuff... It's an errand bike and I will do some long distance stuff on it also.

I've been riding for a long time, I started in 1974, stopped for about 10 years, till now. I took in the old days all the Motorcycle Safety foundation classes, the advanced one with a Honda Gold Wing Aspencade. I recommend this advance course to all of you. definitely life saver.

I bought my first Buell, a white 2003 XB9R in December 2004. It was a leftover with 12 miles on her. I still have her and two more 2003 XB9R, and 2005 XB12R and a 2009 orange Uly and red City X on order. Some have heroin...I have Buell.
