LOL, Terrible Tim that takes me back.

Oooo Ooooo not if you was the laaast immigrant grocer on earth! Honey!

Yankee Rose was great, just watched it on Youtube last week. Youtube's great for watching videos. The old school Buellers probably remember when Mtv actually played music videos.

Still trying to resize my picture to post a before but here's the after.

I KNOW, I KNOW IT'S NOT AN XB.

If it wasn't for the old school, there would be no XB's!

LOL! Funny stuff! I liked the . . ."My doctor said I have to take a laxative!"
"Not in my store you don't!"
Ahh, the good ol' days! What MTV needs is more Billy Idol! Now those were the days! It was all "I want my MTV" and the only rap was Beastie-Boys videos! And what ever happened to "Headbanger's Ball"? I use to stay up 'till like 1am watching that, no wait, taping that!

So, before and after is what you want? here is the last model bike I rode before the Buell 1987 GSXR-750:

1986 gsxr750

and here is why I'm not still riding it:

I was lucky to live. I credit the fact that I'm an ATGATT crusader, and the fact I practice what I preach, for my survival.
I was literally held together by soft tissue and leather.

Here is my new baby:

My "slightly modified" Firebolt XB1250RLX

It was my gift to myself for getting up out of the wheelchair and walking.

Before:

2004 883 Sportster (w/NRHS 1250 Conversion)

After:
2006 Buell XB9SX

Bottom line: The Buell is everything I wanted the Sportster to be.

Kedo: It wasn't a fence, it was a new <300 mi old Honda car.
The driver, who had only accumulated the miles on the odometer in her entire life, pulled out of a blind driveway, foot
to the floor and turned left. Directly into my path.

I was doing 45mph. It was a 4 lane road with a turn-out in the middle. I was in the left lane with my wife on back.
I crushed the gas tank with my pelvis acting as an air bag for my wife. She then flew 30 ft. and I "only" flew 20 according
to the police report. The bike and car were totaled. The bike frame was in 3 easy to carry pieces! Nearly nothing
was salvageable from the bike. Everything was bent or broken.

My only memory of the accident is "that doesn't belong there" referring to the headlight that had suddenly appeared
in front of me. The driver had her radio cranked up and she was "in a hurry to get to the beach" (We were in San Diego)

Just a little background to go with the pics.

Terribletim headbangers ball is still on believe it or not. I wouldn't know myself unless my last job had me working nights every other month. (BTW all that DHA oil in baby food and gelcaps, don't ever ask how it's made) Anywho, I just see MTV as something I can sit in a rocker and tell my kids, "back in my day..."

Diablobrian, all I can say is WOW. You must clack when you walk, cause you got balls of steel man. I don't know if I'd have the cajones to get on another two wheeler after something like that. That should be shown to new drivers and motorcycle safety classes for the importance of gear. IMO of course.

Kyrocket: Like I've told so many people that are amazed I'm riding again...If I had the accident in a chevy i wouldn't stop driving chevys.
It wasn't my fault or the bikes. It was an 18 year old girl at fault and I certainly don't want to do away with those!

Riding is one of life's great passions. If I quit riding out of fear of what someone else might or might not do
what kind of life would I be leading? If I stop doing the things that I did it changes who I am. I'm pretty happy with
who I am, and I have plans for who I'm going to be. Motorcycling figures prominently into it.

As far as clanging.....I have enough metal in my right hip and pelvis that it looks like a hardware store exploded in
my x-rays! The only cool part is that it's not just the bike that has titanium hardware!

It's no fun at the airport though....

Diablobrian - SOOOO glad you're okay and still riding. Scarecrow - BEAUTIFUL City-X! Tell us about the seat/cowl/sub frame. Trojan Horse? Really nice. Gruntb16 - try your left once in a while. It feels more like somebody else!

Thanks Kedo, yea it is the Euro-fighter seat from Trojan. The tail section is also from trojan. Did you do your bolt conversion yourself? I am thinking that will be my next project. I like the 1125R frontend and am now wondering if it will bolt on. I will have to wait and see it in person.

Scarecrow - Yes, I did it myself. Not too tough at all. Much easier from lightning to lightning-bolt than from firebolt to lightning-bolt. I'm happy to share info. I am so glad I did it. The riding position is SOOOO much better for me. How much was the rear-end project?

Kedo - I believe I spent about $1000.00 including the twin tail unit. It was about another $120 to ship. It comes unpainted, so another couple of hundred to prep and paint it. Are you heading down to Buellton for Al's BBQ? I plan on riding down Friday morning. How much do you have in your frontend swap? Does the new frontend help with the wind? I will PM you a high res pick later today or tomorrow. Hopefully this rain will stop.

before.......05 sporty 883

no motor work, I just got it to get on the street from dirt bikes and I got a pretty good deal. I tell you what, if you can get on a sporty that runs good and say that you didn't have fun...you got issues with standards. This was a damn good bike, but I joked about having to call for reservations about a wheelie.

AFTER (a CRAP LOAD penny pinching and a TON of overtime)

And a very, very, very before picture

I dug deep but I found one picture of it thats visable. My 85' chevy s-10 blazer -355 ci. v-8 4wd B&Mtranny and Detroits finest locking diff. Three inches of body lift and 6in. lift of suspension made many happy days with this toy. My first wheelie was in this Blazer.

and a after the blazer

my 93 mazda mx-6 (zoom,zoom)

The week that my Blazer threw its last half shaft out of the rear-end and went end over end, I resorted to driving the mazda every day...... only to be blessed with 3 ft. of snow with no 4wd drive to enjoy it. I miss my blazer....(cries) but still luv my mazda.

Skarecrow- No to the BBQ. I had plans to but they fell through. Maybe next year. The front-end project cost about the same - $1K. The swap doesn't help with the wind as much as riding position. Soon after I started riding the Lightning, I realized that I would have been happier with the Firebolt. So, rather than lose the $ on re-sale, I did the conversion - hence the Lightning-Bolt. If you sent the image - I never got it. Try a PM later. I'm off to ride for the day!!! WOOO-Hooo!

One might say that I have been riding for quite a while, so I can't really remember all of the 30 or so bikes I have owned over the years.

Here I am in 1959 aboard one of my first bikes, a Ducati Elite 200 which I bought in Rome, and had modified by the factory in Bologna.

It was considered a rather unusual sight in those days in and around Cambridge, Mass.

Still a great bike, and quite popular with vintage racers. Wish I still had it.

Slowed down a bit over the years, but I still do enjoy a bit of a canter from time to time. Here is Lil Blackie at the Gap at the most recent March Badness
