Hello everyone, 1st post...excellent site, very informative, well layed out, easy to navigate, so much info, ideas, "cool Buellers"
About the exaust...I took the cable off of the servo under the air box, and tierapped it "open". I was hoping to gain a little more growl and power, until I get a new pipe. I did gain a "bit" more growl, and power...I will find out at the next Harley shootout. I haven't noticed any adverse affects. Any one else tried this?

Left mine alone, I liked the torque it made at the low end.

Nice YSR!

Right... with the valve pinned open it'll be louder, but you'll have a gaping hole in the powerband at low to mid-range rpm (where most of us spend 95% of our time). And you'll gain no extra power at the top, just lose power at the bottom. At the top end, the servo opens the valve anyway.

In other words, Buell put that valve there for a reason!

you want "growl" get a Drummer.
It makes young boys cry with envy and wildlife run for the hills. My life has not been the same since I got that can.

Can't stand the idea of having to send your stock pipe in and be without a bike for 6-9 days?

Maybe you can buy my old stock pipe and I'll ship straight to Kevin. When I had mine done I bought a stock pipe of a fellow badwebber over in Oregon...or Washington... hmm can't remember right now. Anyway, the only downtime I had was when I was swapping the cans.

I'm curious why the aftermarket guys don't build to accommodate the active exhaust. I can't help but think it's a good thing to have, else Buell wouldn't have gone through the trouble to develop it.

Cool! How loud is the Special Ops muffler that uses the active exhaust? I had an E-Mail correspondence with Matt (Trojan) regarding the E-certified mufflers he carries. None of them uses the active exhaust. Of course, they're not EPA legal, but I figure they'll be quiet enough that no one will bother with me if I did get them. I'm really fed up with the cheat sh*t rusting metal Buell uses for their stock mufflers...

hey.... my engine light came on and the reason the gave me at the dealer was that the valve in the muffler was stuck open.

I believe you asked for adverse effects and I can say without a doubt that my MPG has gone from 50 to about 35. Yeah, it's more growl but I like going 200 miles between fill ups!!!
