Got it home a little bit ago. This thing is pretty quiet at idle. Looks like I get 2 days of 70 degree weather, then snow again on Wednesday next week. Needs a little bit of break-in mileage, then dyno for stock numbers. I saw Dillon's posted 165 hp at the wheel on the demo they have.

Pretty cool having people show up just to meet me there. I didn't really post a lot of info about when I'd be there or anything, had a couple of guys that knew who I was and came up just to say hey.
Got the bike from Reno's Powersports in KC. Overall, very good bunch of guys to work with.

And yes, modifications will commence soon enough.

Stock rear header looks good from what I can see of it, the front appears to be a stamped and welded piece, more oval in shape. It will be tougher to replace it since it's restricted in size (width front to rear) for clearance on the cooling system. If I do a slip-on, it won't be all that difficult from a mechanical standpoint. I need to sort out the dimensions on the tubing, haven't taken anything apart yet, but it looks like it's close to 2" headers. Definitely larger than the 1125 headers. I assume it's in metric without measuring them, I'll know within a few weeks after break in and the initial service.

In the summer of 1996 I was in the suburbs at a summer carnival in honor of some dead pioneer.

I was about 200 feet away from the local Harley dealer's tent the day I was bitten buy the Buell bug. A yellow crotch rocket with and a Harley? An S1 Lightning caught my eye. Your 1190 is absolutely stunning!

Congratulations Dean!

Looking forward to seeing your art.

My 2-year-old daughter's favorite color is yellow. Dean let her fingerprints be among the first on his new bike. Thanks Dean!

Damn nice.

Dean, how does it compare, rider-fit-wise, to an 1125? *IS* there comfort? I remember sitting on an RS at NJMP a few years back...but didn't get to ride it (they didn't trust Erik with the keys LOL).

The ride postion is a little more aggressive, but it's actually pretty good/comfy once you get your feet up on the pegs and are moving along at a good clip. I _think_ they're adjustable but I haven't done any serious checking yet.

The ride itself is better than the 1125 (mine was set up for track days) as in more compliant, smoother feeling, etc. It's still a little "clunky" at low rpm, ie; sub 3k rpm. You feel the driveline lash if you're riding slow, slipping the clutch a little helps although I'm sure that's not recommended nor good for it. I just ride faster. I don't think there's really a comparison between the RS and RX. The "seat" on the RS is just a very thin foam pad. The RX is an actual seat that is removable. It's not very thick at all, but it's relatively comfortable. Similar to the 1125 seat, just shaped differently.

The other thing I noticed was that at speed (45-50 and up) there's very little wrist fatigue. The windscreen is shorter, so you catch a little more wind (I'm a parachute on this thing) so it holds you more upright. My 2nd (longer) ride was maybe 50 miles and it was less taxing on my wrists than the 1125 ever was. Yeah, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but for general purpose tooling around, this one is much better than the 1125. I need to put a muffler back on my xb (currently out for comparison testing on a race bike) to ride it and compare, but I'm thinking this is better than a lightning for comfort while cruising at 60 mph with bursts of speed up over 80. Btw, it gets there VERY quick. From any speed, in any gear. It does feel cramped at slow speeds unless you're moving around on it, but I'll keep it anyway.

> slipping the clutch a little helps although I'm sure that's not recommended nor good for it.

My guess is it's just fine. The clutch is designed to wear, and it's a wet clutch, so the pack is lubricated anyway. I've been slipping and sliding the piss out of mine on the track for eons -- and the RS/RX/1125 clutch is essentially the same.

If you do a lot of slipping the clutch, change the oil more often since the debris ends up there.

I concur the new dash is very easy to read and the ergos for us guys who are somewhere north of 6Ft is spot on. No wrist or lower back fatigue at all. If you tuck low enough at speed, the pressure of the wind and lift over your back seems to lock you into the perfect spot. I still think Galactic Black looks the best in the wild.

To have the redesigned fairing and radiator arrangement on the 1125 would be sweet...
