OK, either Court was pulling your leg, or he downloaded the XB exhaust shootout, because I JUST finished putting the 1125 report up there. Court, you TEASE!! : )

Here it is:
http://www.americansportbike.com/Exhaust_Shootout. html

We'll get it up on the JT&S site shortly as well, I'll publish that link here when I have it.

The olderXB exhaust shootout is on that page, with the two 1125 downloads, so make sure you download the right one. The text archive is the meat of the report, the audio archive has the sound files and pictures of the waveforms. Read the little PDF in the audio archive before listening, and use a player where you get to view the waveform if you have one.

Have fun. I'm SOOO done working on this, I hope there isn't any issues with the downloads all working. The report and data is what it is.

Oh, and one other thing. As indicated in the report, one seriously major mistake that we made was NOT running the bike on the stock PIPE with a RACE ECM. It won't be exactly the same thing doing it now, but I'm going to try to get the same bike on the same dyno with the same ECM with the same map and a map I'll try to get from Erik Buell Racing, and publish that run as an addendum.

Al

Al - Beautiful work.
Just now looking at the Excel stuff.
Question - Why is the 140+ run on the chambered Drummer in Standard, vs SAE correction? an ooops?

Thank you for doing this, I am still happy with my Drummer SS. : )

Another typo on the pricing, page 26. RT-2 is $649 and the RT-4 is $899.

Just wanted to point that out before someone gets upset that they can't get it for that price.

Keep 'em coming, I'll fix and put a rev B up.

Zac, THANK YOU! Jeez, I even noted that the chambered drummer correction factor was higher than the others and it seemed wrong, but didn't look to see that it said STANDARD instead of SAE!!! THAT will expedite the rev B release, but I can't do that here, I'll do it from home late tonight when I get home. That was bugging the crap outta me.

Thanks Al & all that helped out, very comprehensive report. I am happy to see my pipe performed reasonably well.

Well done to Dean Adams very good results with the RT's showing what can be acheived in your own backyard.

Thanks for all the hard work and effort that went into the test series, well worth the wait.

As a resident of the UK its a pity that European pipe manufactures couldn't be included for the obvious practical reasons but well done.

good job AL!! and good job to all the Pipe manufactures, while not all the pipes may not be my preferance alot of work was put into making them.

Im not sure if AL put this in the report but the CES pipe was by far the best sounding pipe ever put on a 1125 no other pipe sounds like it! as close to sounding like a duc and still maintaning the rotax sound you can get! gorgeous sound and gorgeous welds. The low end grunt when riding the bike with the pipe was nice bike wanted to be on one wheel easier than it already does. My Fav pipe out of the whole test.

2nd Fav is the drummer great sound and like the manufactures real world approach in engineering the pipe some may say hes crazy but the truth is in the pudding, the numbers were nice and when riding the pipe felt quite abit more power.

congrats to D Adams those pipes put up nice curves

barker is hella nice craftsmanship not just the beautiful clamp but I like the science in the cone shape wish we would have had a Seron pipe to test also, it also has cone shape design.

to the rest of the pipes that were tested easily forgoten but again to the Manufactures great work

Torque Hammer- I never realized the sound issues over there makes me understand your design somewhat more. you do alot with Buells over there nice work man!!

Buellish,

Thanks for the mini review. I can't access Al's site from my work computer (mil computers block sites for no reason sometimes), so your post gives me something to look forward to.

As for Easy forced to design around noise issues, that is something U.S. pipe makers (and riders) will be forced to deal with in the coming years (not distant), unfortunately. There is a new, easily enforced noise standard on the horizon. : (

Bravo gentlemen. Now we have proof of what works...and doesn't. Also, kudos to those pipe makers who really have done it right. There WAS so much speculation about all the aftermarket pipes and a few pipe makers have taken some abuse--apparently unjustly.

Again, bravo gentlemen.

AL,

First of all thanks for all the work.

I will do some testing in the USA at Glendales in coming august. I will post the dyno result here also to give a better picture what a good tune can do. I test there a 1125CR with the Torque Hammer and our tune for fun.

It is a shame that the test results for our exhaust at JT&S dyno was so low I have a idea where that came from, but a result is a result and we don't complain about that.

Let's see what I can do with the results on a Dynojet research dyno with my stock tune for the pipe in August.

Keep up the good work..

Dean,

From what I have read, you were present for part, if not all of the testing. Can you tell me if there were any dB readings taken and noted during the sound test, or just the sound recordings?

I am not savvy in the ways of .wav files. Do the height of the wav file specs correlate to intensity (dB levels)? If they do, it appears that the Torque Hammer is quieter than OEM (baseline).
