Do you make a point of trying to be helpful? Thanks for the suggestion but given that I am an idiot I was unable to find any search terms that turned up anything. Now, run along and help someone else. |

I did a quick search and found few old threads. Pretty much the same things said in this thread. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/82845.html |

Sorry, the search here sucks. Easily 1/3 of the time I just get a white screen or an error. |

Thanks Froggy for actually writing a helpful post. Honestly, I didn't search outside of the 1125 board because most of the time I do I get a page error. I'll remember to try that. |

You shouldn't be getting the errors or white pages anymore. I haven't seen it happen in a few weeks. If it does happen, post up about it on the suggestions page. Also, at the top of every page is a Google link, you can use that to search here too, and in some cases it can work better than the standard search. |

Kevin, I'm really not bitching. I use the search regularly and am pretty happy with it. The results are sometimes a little hard to decipher but pages load fast enough here that it isn't a big deal to open the topic to see how relevant it is. |

I really get annoyed at those who get annoyed because someone asks a question in a forum. I don't care how obvious or stupid the question may seem to some. If those who get so annoyed at being asked questions spent as much time providing a link to one or two search items as they do blasting people for not using the search feature our "search feature" would actually improve. More than one person has complained to me how less than helpful the 1125 forum is because of such bad attitudes. If you don't want to provide a link or answer then don't respond at all. Just check the attitude. |

If you don't want to provide a link or answer then don't respond at all. Just check the attitude. So because you either don't know how or are too lazy to use the search, you would like others to do the work for you? Hmmm. Sounds reasonable. |

Hey Harlan, we can't presume to know the state of mind or intent someone has when they ask a question of the forum members. If they are truly trollish that will come out in due time, but everyone should get the benefit of the doubt when first asking a question. Maybe they did use the search and had trouble getting any results. Also, there are many members who are challenged by computers and don't think of "searching" first. This isn't the "comp.unix.kernel" forum... it is just a forum for Buell enthusiasts to talk motorcycles. It is a completely different culture with different expectations. No members are obligated to provide answers, but if they do that can't possibly hurt other members that don't want to give away free help. |

I find the Google search of the site more helpful than the home-grown one. I've been lurking here for years, and just recently noticed it, up in upper left hand corner of the page. I'm not sure what it is, but the 1125 forum seems to be measurably less civil than the Thumper forum - more flaming, more paranoia, less tolerance. I've seen the same question asked 1000 times in that forum. The answer is invariably a cheerful "check the boot!". I don't remember ever seeing any flaming. Let's realize that short, quickly typed messages can easily be misunderstood. What I think is a gentle joke may deeply offend someone else. Let's just chill. |

It originates from a handful of members that frequent this section. I have been sending nastygrams to various members to try and cut back on the bitterness. It seems to be working, but I still need to send a few more apparently. |

Thanks, Froggy. I stand corrected. I do remember some guy flaming on EZBlast about the minutiae of cylinder dimensions. Sknight, what browser do you use? I find that search doesn't work at all on my Blackberry. |

I set mine on the clubmans. The bend in the clubmans is perfect for holding the gas cap. With my xb9 I would set it on the cement. |

The "Search" comments do get pretty old. Sure it's good to have a look before asking what's likely a FAQ ... But if all anyone ever did was search, there wouldn't be a community or a chance to get to know the other enthusiasts. Why chime in at all if you're not adding some value, some support, or even a little humor. Mike |

Running Firefox on a Mac. I also have a Win XP Pro running on an old Toshiba laptop using Explorer. It acts the same on both. And I do wholeheartedly agree on the "Do a search" comments getting really old. Fact is the answer is here but if people only read and don't ask again nobody will chime in with new way of doing something. I'm only on one forum where repetitive questions are welcomed and frankly it's no big deal. Don't want to answer, don't waste the effort. Easy peasy. |

I learned an awful lot about Blasts watching the same questions asked repeatedly. Variation is educational - and the evolution of answers is a learning experience. EZ |

> GSD fuel cap, no key, upside down on the seat. Bike holds a lot more fuel if filled while sitting on it. Track? No big deal. Arkansas? Man, having that 120-130 mile range has SAVED MY BUTT more than a few times! |

Yep. I meant to say something about this earlier but I always fill with the bike upright. This makes setting the cap anywhere off the bike a pain. |

I put a small ball-compass in the LH bar-mount-hole. Gives me the perfect place to put my gas cap.

Mine always go on top of the pump, with the key still in. I lay them on the edge of the cap and end of the key, which keeps the "inside" of the cap off any dirt, etc that may be on top of the pump. I do the same with my (keyless) tuber caps, but leave the little flipper up so it sits the same way. |

Okay, I LIKE that compass idea ... Sometimes when I head down roads I've never been on, just knowing which way is North could be useful. Mind if I steal that idea Zac? Mike |

For those of you who set the cap on the ground or on the pump, are you sitting on the bike? If not, how are you filling it all the way? |
