Has anybody seen the new FMF pipe? I saw on the Latus bikes and the new 1125rr they both have the FMF pipe. I talked to Henry Duga and he told me BMC isn't going to make the racing exhaust any more. He said that they are to busy and the FMF pipe works just as good as their pipe. So I sent FMF an email but I haven't heard anything back yet. The pipe sounds really good and dosen't seem to be as loud as the BMC pipe.

There's an Anony post in the racing forum that says the FMF Titanium pipe is 5 pounds lighter than the Buell Race exhaust and works well on a stock as well as a modified motor.

The Race pipe is sick and makes the 1125 sound like it wants to eat your children.

No doubt about the race pipe. It is an awesome piece of fabrication. And has a killer sound. But I am not a racer yet. So I can't get my hands on a race exhaust or a chain drive swing arm.

White I can understand not being able to get the racing exhaust, but why can't you get the chain drive conversion?

didn't know I could get the swingarm. I thought you had to have a race license. Anybody know if the dealers can give you a break on race parts?

The only part I've heard of that's NOT related to emissions are the Magnesium wheels.
That's because they aren't DOT approved and aren't supposed to be run on the street.

Endoman33 is correct, you can buy anything not emissions related, including the mag wheels (ignore what it says in last year's P&A catalog), without a race license -- but the race parts ARE intended for race track use. The FMF pipe on the RR has a Buell part number, but it's more easily available directly from FMF. And, last I heard, they have no issue selling it to anyone that has cash -- just like any other pipe they make.

So is it just a slip-on, or a full system?

It's a full system. Any pipe that offers the power increase of the Buell race system or the FMF pipe will require custom, larger diameter headers with either steps or expansions designed in them.

Anony thanks for the update, I hate to spread bad info.

Is the FMF system also comparable in price to the Buell Race kit?

Kinda an update on what White said, I talked to FMF today, nice guys, they do plan to put out a slip on for now. End of Aug.- Sept. time frame. Keep checking there website for now, they will update. Cost no commitment yet but should be in the ball park of what they sell now. They are aware the this site, for feedback and interest.

I got an email from them today, stating that they are releasing a slip-on. They are about an 1 1/2 ride from where I am now in San Diego. The guy told me that they would contact me as soon as the slip on is available.

If you are speaking of the 1125RR, it doesn't come with Ohlins (per Buell specs).

This system appears to have much shorter primaries than the Buell race system. Id be very curious to see the hp and tq curve differences between these two pipes.

Interesting radiator orientation on the RR as compared to the R.
If anybody has any other pics please post them. I cant get enough of staring at this gorgeous machine!

Any Ohlins dealer. But, they are not shown on the website.

I have a request in about getting front forks and a rear shock for my Ulysses. I've also inquired about the 1125R forks.

I'm curious, since folks have been begging for this stuff, to see how many folks race out to buy $4,000 wheel sets and add $5,000 worth of suspension.

Good news is . . . that now you can.

court, at my level that money would be better spent on riding lessons. i figure that when i can tell that the bike is holding ME back(instead of the other way around) i will budget for the good stuff. besides that, for 9G i can find 3 more S2's or 1 1/2 RS's. : )

Tim:

Kind of my point. The internet seems to always be full of "why does Buell require a racing license?" . . . "why don't they put those on the bike?" and other silly claims.

Fact is there is a very thinning market in the motorcycle business once you get past $10,000. Don't believe me, watch what folks here will do to save $100 off a bike.

By the time you get to the $25,000 market things get pretty well thinned out.

As much as folks think they NEED Magnesium wheels, I'm betting that if Buell offered them, they'd sell less than 5 sets a year to 150,000 Buell owners.

Riding lessons are a reasonable cost and the best thing you can do to improve performance on most motorcycles.

The Ohlins forks are $5k? Gaaak!

A set of AK-20s are only $1k. How do they expect to sell *any* of those at that price?

For what it's worth, I *did* spend $1,000+ on suspension upgrades on my 1125r track bike. I'm thinking about moving those to the street bike and doing another upgrade to the track bike now.

But you are right, I ain't spending $5k on it. $2k, sure, $5k, you are smokin' something!

I've also wondered if anyone has sent their fork tubes off for DHC or TiNi coatings and if it made a difference?
