"Why, as a non owner, does anyone think their negative opinion is so valuable to an enthusiasts board? How, or on what level, do they think they are contributing positively? "

Shouldn't all opinions be welcome? Because they may have an opinion that differ from the opinion of the 'Faithful' does not mean the person is not a Buell enthusiast.

When someone expresses an opinion that may differ from those of the faithful do they deserve a bashing? That what seems to go on a lot more these days. Way to much enthusiasm from that turn into personal attacks from some of the members.

"Why cant the Buell enthusiasts, on a Buell enthusiasts website, be happy and enthusiastic about our bikes?" That is exactly how it should be, but with out the personal attacks.

Sure. No problem. Opinions regarding all things Buell.

However, your "opinion" regarding Buell owners: "CAN BE CRUEL,SELF SERVING, BIGOTED" is not an opinion that will go over well on a Buell enthusiast board. It is insulting.
It is the kind of statement commonly resorted to when you are in the losing end of an argument.

Some members might get bashed by the 'faithful' due to their unrelenting pursuit of convincing the rest of the board how awful the 1125 is.

There is at least one member I can think of who will take any oppurtunity to critisize the aesthetics of the 1125R. After the same comments are made in three different threads in the span of a week, the general response from the 'faithful' is gonna be "shut the f*** up already!"

There is a difference between saying something like, "I love my 1125, I just wish the pods were a little smaller", and, "The 1125 is ugliest motorcycle ever produced and only the dumb and blind have an excuse to purchase one." Especially when posted on an 1125 board.

You want to express your negative opinion? Have at it.

You want to drill it into my head every chance you get? It's not going to be tolerated.

Not much sympathy here for the haters.

Without improvement the competition will overrun you.

The fact that you choose the word hater when describing differing opinions demonstrates you have already placed judgment right or wrong.

Without those that question why things are, or how they could be, things would never improve. Even if you like the looks and performance today why not look toward tomorrow and continues improvement.

Without improvement the competition will overrun you.

I have seen post here where some have worried they may improve the looks of the 1125 and they fear for their resale value. Is that really looking at Buells best interest?

Without improvement the competition will overrun you.

Looking towards tomorrow doesn't require belittling the current offering.

You're talking to sportbike riders - of course they know product improvements are required for competition. If that weren't the case, we all would have shunned the 1125 and the XBs and stuck to riding our S2s.

The fact that I chose the word "hater" does nothing but highlight how these people are viewed. A "hater" is someone who has nothing good say about something. We have those here. And I didn't chose that word to describe folks with a differing opinion - I chose it describe folks with a differing and negative opinion who never let up and feel the need to be validated on a near daily basis.

Get off your high horse - it's only a mule, anyways.

I knew someone would say this.

If you think BMC is going to overlook actual surveyed research, dealer feedback, overall sales and success of the product and only listen to the people naysaying on a Buell enthusiast's board..........Then you are delusional beyond reproach. Thats the only PC way I can think of to put it.

Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki are all the same. Even their engineers admit they all try to be the same.

Buell is different. Unless you want to be different, skip the Buell.

In the Matrix, which pill would you take, the red or the blue?
The question of which pill to take illustrates the personal aspect of the decision to study philosophy. Do you live on in ignorance (and potentially bliss, riding a Jap bike) or do you lead what Aristotle called 'the examined life'(riding a Buell)...

Still no response from Mr. Buell to my letter of early last month. Did I send it to the wrong address? No, there it is, right at the front of my owner's manual: "if an issue arises that your dealer cannot resolve, please follow the procedure below. . . . you can contact the Buell Customer Service Department by . . . writ(ing) to: Harley-Davidson Motor Co., P.O. Box 653, Milwaukee, WI 53201".

Anyhoo, I did finally receive my repaired 09 R from the selling dealer after 5.3 weeks (but who was counting), in which they removed a stator from a display bike because "Buell is too busy building bikes to have any spares" the dealer claimed.

The ride home was most unpleasant, having gotten used to a normal ride height on my old Honda and now feeling on my reclaimed R like "crouching tiger, hidden dragon" perched atop the damned thing. Hideous.

My eBay auction for my R has attracted little interest and no bids; and ends in a few hours after a week; so now I'm thinking I might introduce Mr. Buell to a little legal doctrine we have in Australia called "unfit for its intended purpose", which is that the R is advertised as a road bike, but its features are of a track bike.

Feller's gotta have a little fun, especially when having spent A$19,000 for the privilege.

You have the OEM seat and pegs.
Put a Tour/Select seat(150 usd) and a set of drop pegs from a Lightning or Uly and the whole world will change.
I promise.

Are you purposefully being difficult? Re-read the 1st page of this thread. I don’t think anyone here with ˝ a brain would respond to your letter.

Did I send it to the wrong address?...Harley-Davidson Motor Co., P.O. Box 653, Milwaukee, WI 53201".
You sure did. BCS is a separate company from Buell. Erik is the CTO of Buell, not BCS.

Anyhoo, I did finally receive my repaired 09 R from the selling dealer after 5.3 weeks (but who was counting), in which they removed a stator from a display bike because "Buell is too busy building bikes to have any spares" the dealer claimed.
So you had a stator go and it took “5.3” weeks for it to be fixed. $h!t happens. Stators go out. You choose to blame Buell. Simply amazing.

The ride home was most unpleasant, having gotten used to a normal ride height on my old Honda and now feeling on my reclaimed R like "crouching tiger, hidden dragon" perched atop the damned thing. Hideous.
Did you ride on, or for that matter even sit on an 1125 BEFORE you bought it? Honestly?

…so now I'm thinking I might introduce Mr. Buell to a little legal doctrine we have in Australia called "unfit for its intended purpose", which is that the R is advertised as a road bike, but its features are of a track bike.
Good luck with that. Mine as well as many other’s 1125R bikes make EXCELLENT road bikes, as advertised. They also make pretty darn good track bikes. But the “features” are not those of a race bike made street legal. Go wrap yourself on a 1098 sometime and then come back and talk intelligently about ergonomics in regards to street vs. track.

Feller's gotta have a little fun, especially when having spent A$19,000 for the privilege.
If by ‘fun’ you mean incessant whining, then you appear to be having a LOT of ‘fun’. Do us all a favor and please go ride your Honda & leave until you learn how to conduct yourself in polite company.

Redscuell, I wasn't going to jump on the bandwagon of bashing your opinions on here. In fact, I'm still not going to because your opinions of the 1125R's riding position aren't completely wrong. The bike does have an aggressive riding position that is less than ideal for relaxed street riding, touring, commuting, etc.

However, I must say that unless you were blind until the day you purchased the bike, you have no excuse to not see these ergonomic issues. Have you ever sat on a bike with high pegs and clip-on handlebars before? None of them are comfortable, at least not like any upright bike. If you think you can blame Buell because you don't feel comfortable on their bike, you are deranged.

The thing about the stator is most likely a legitimate complaint...but against the dealership and not Buell. I've had some dealership problems myself, including telling lies to me to cover their own ass. Sounds like they told you something to pass the blame from them to Buell, when in fact they probably didn't really try to get your parts.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but now I realize you truly are an idiot.

The ride home was most unpleasant, having gotten used to a normal ride height on my old Honda and now feeling on my reclaimed R like "crouching tiger, hidden dragon" perched atop the damned thing. Hideous.

The 1125 ride height is no different than any other sportbike on the market, and the riding position is likely the most RELAXED of any pure sport bike on the market.

so now I'm thinking I might introduce Mr. Buell to a little legal doctrine we have in Australia called "unfit for its intended purpose", which is that the R is advertised as a road bike, but its
features are of a track bike.

GASP! Track bike features on a road bike? HOW DARE THEY?!?!?

Go climb on a GSX-R600 or Ducati 848 and tell me how much of a 'track bike' the 1125 is.

I understand your frustration, but in your issues with the stator concerning your dealer, you're looking like a complete idiot blaming Buell for silly things like riding position and streetability.

This sounds to me like you bought a bike that in hindsight was a poor fit for you, you couldn't afford, or there was some other reason beyond the reasonable control of Buell keeping you from enjoying the machine. Don't blame Buell because YOU made a poor decision.

Get an effin' clue, dude.

Dude, consider yourself lucky to be able to afford an 1125R. I'd put my organs on the black market for a chance to have an 1125. But why did you buy a Superbike expecting it to be comfortable and good for wind protection? It wasn't meant for comfort or wind protection, it was made to go fast and handle well, with added Buell goodness: ) Stick to the cruisers if you want comfort. You can sell your Buell back to the dealer and walk 3 feet to the Harley's and be good to go. How comfortable are CBRS, Gixxers and the like? They're not, because they're sportbikes, just like this one. Sorry you had troubles but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. If I had done that I wouldn't have been driving a Ford today. Sorry to see you leave Buell but its all good. Freedom of choice makes America and I'm assuming Austrailia (yall seem to not be much different from us) is what makes us great. Good luck on your next ride, drive safe, etc. Watch out for the kangaroos to, hear they're like deer are to us.

I've been watching the ads for Domino's pizza and I have seen that ALL the people eating the pizza and scarfing the bread sticks and drinking the fizzy sodas are ALL young, good-looking and thin.

I've been eating pizza every freaking night now for a month... I haven't gotten any younger, haven't gotten any better looking and haven't lost any weight.

I'm still waiting for a response from the email that I sent to David Brandon (CEO - Domino's) but until then, I've stuck my finger down my throat and brought up the last pizza I'll ever eat from them UNTIL they live up to the implication that I'll become younger, better looking and lose weight.

I post information, I don't necessarily read the tripe that is posted in response, as I don't need any affirmation from anyone about how I analyze the 1125R for my own needs. Certainly some of the line-by-line responses above are just mental mast****tion from some. Anyway, time for Buell to get it right; I'll certainly be passing my negative experiences with BMC, Badweatherbikers, and the Cult of the Buell on to anyone who'll listen!
