I can't fault a guy for being upset about mechanical flaws on a new bike. But to say it's not comfortable, there's no fuel gauge, windscreen is too low, blah blah blah is just dumb.

Red, did you bother to do any research, sit on or (gasp!) demo one of these before you bought it, or did you simply point at a picture of it in a magazine and grunt at it like a retard ordering from the picture menu at McDonalds?

Sounds to me like the major issue here is an un-informed consumer that wants to blame everyone else for his mistake. No bike, car, house or woman is for every man, but to say it's not good because it doesn't fit your needs is just a good way to look like a tool.

This bike is a tough one to research. I want one but I have to read through all the coded messages here. This is the only place on the web you can really read about Buell but here people are happy that the taillights are free!!! They dont seem to mind the six visits to the dealer.

What I'm trying to say, is the owners here have a really high tolerance for pain much more so than the average consumer. Thats why I'm waiting but I do see how someone could come visit here and be left with a bit a rose colored picture.

Some post are obviously plants from the the Manufacture and others from dealers with stock. This phenomena does not occur in brands with larger market segments as the number of customers is much larger than the number of people who's paycheck is dependent on the bikes perception ratio.

By the way, to date I've not received a response from Mr. Buell to a letter I sent him earlier this month regarding my dissatisfaction with the 09 1125R.

And I'm not even surprised! But I work in retail, 'at the coal face', as we say here in Oz; and my company is required to respond to any customer complaint WITHIN 24 HOURS. Someone should educate Mr. Buell about customer service.

Brands like Lexus and Mercedes were built on keeping customers satisfied with their purchase; and thereby keeping customers. Brands like Pontiac, on the other hand . . . .. Well, Buell could be next; it's not the license to print money that Harley has been over the years.

HA! You go write a letter to Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chariman of the Board for Daimler AG (Mercedes-Benz) and see if he writes you back.

Jap bikes suck. No heart or soul.

This I disagree with to an extent. Does a Suzuki cruiser have the 'soul' of a Harley? Not a chance. But I watched a special on Kawasaki the other day and I look at those bikes in a very different light now, at least the ones tha build on the history of the brand (not HD clones that build on the history of HD). Very dedicated company and very good at what they do and LOVE. The size of a manufacturer can't be held against them.

Red, good luck with your new bike. I've ridden a couple Hondas and have always come away impressed (when taken in context - an ST1300 isn't for me, but I appreciate the machine). If I hadn't figured out a hard-luggage solution for my XB and the 1125 hadn't emerged, I very well may have ended up with a VFR in my garage.

Ride safe.

>>>This bike is a tough one to research.

There were over 100 detailed tests in magazines written by the 130+ journalists at the "early intro".

Most went into significant detail and the bikes debut was one of the most chronicled.

I, like <70% of folks who own motorcycles, don't subscribe to any magazines so I can see your point. But there was a ton of information out there.

Fortunately there is a lot of timely information and support now.

"Some post are obviously plants from the the Manufacture"

I double dog dare you to find one single post from a Buell employee claiming to be an average Buell owner.

The only "planted" posts are "anonymous" which on this board means that they are Buell/Dealer employees. This is not a secret.

This bike is a tough one to research.
No it’s not. Go to a dealer and ride one for yourself. Read the articles from the mags, there are enough of them since the release.

I want one but I have to read through all the coded messages here. This is the only place on the web you can really read about Buell but here people are happy that the taillights are free!!! They dont seem to mind the six visits to the dealer.
You do remember that this is a Buell ENTHUSIAST site, right? Meaning most folks here are ENTHUSIASTIC about the brand. Part of that enthusiasm is in knowing that if we do have a problem, we can air it out here, then take it to our dealer, BCS if needed, etc., and it will get resolved.

What I'm trying to say, is the owners here have a really high tolerance for pain much more so than the average consumer. Thats why I'm waiting but I do see how someone could come visit here and be left with a bit a rose colored picture.
Depends on what they’re reading, what they’re comprehending, and what question(s) they do or don’t ask. Same as any other web forum. I’ve had less problems with this bike and they have been resolved faster, than those I’ve had with my wife’s GMC Acadia. The bike isn’t ‘100% perfect’ for every rider, and yes, some of us have higher thresholds for what is/isn’t acceptable. We “are happy that the taillights are free” because we know Buell recognized the problem & did the right thing by replacing ours when they went out. I haven’t heard of many failures lately, which leads me to believe that most, if not all of the ‘bad’ lights are out of the system now. Imagine that? A company doing the ‘right thing’ and their customers being happy about it. Strange, isn’t it?

Some post are obviously plants from the the Manufacture and others from dealers with stock. This phenomena does not occur in brands with larger market segments as the number of customers is much larger than the number of people who's paycheck is dependent on the bikes perception ratio.
Please point to 1 post that is an “obvious plant from the Manufacturer.” Anony posts MAY be from a Buell employee, but that is between the poster & custodian. As such, an Anony post is generally perceived as being from a Buell employee. No 'planting' in my book there. HD policy frowns on their employees posting to forums. That's part of the reason most of us RESPECT the privacy of an Anony posting here. As for the dealers with stock posting here, they are also sponsors of this forum. Why shouldn’t they post?

Brap, I'll make you a deal. If you'd like up close & personal research on an 1125R, pick a weekend and you can come see mine in person. We can go for a ride & grab some grub while we're at it. You can pick my brain on any topic as it relates to my bike. I'll give you my honest opinion & experience.

PM me if you're interested. I'm sure we could gather up some others in the area as well.

Thanks for the offer P.

I feel comfortable with my information finding abilities. I meant to imply for those that look on the surface only and don't try to find out real information. Possibly the same people that think Rush Limbaugh is a news source not an entertainment show.

No manufacturer could ever build my perfect motorbike but Buell have come very close to it a couple of times now and have continued to do it again with my 1125. Sure, I've had my niggles with it but I've been deeply impressed with the way that the problems have been listened to and huge efforts have been made to resolve them, ok, maybe not as quickly as I would have liked but then, no other manufacturer could do this either! I know my clutch issues will be permanently fixed soonas have my other niggles.
I'd just like to say thank you to the factory for all the fun I've had on it

I don't get it. How can anyone expect a bike brand new out of the box to not have any problems? It would be a manufacturing first in my book.

It's all very simple. If you don't like Buell cycles, don't buy one. If you have one and aren't happy, fix it or sell it. But please don't ramble on and whine on this forum about it. If there is something constructive to say please, we're all listening. If not, stop wasting the electrons.

Lastly, whatever outcome you choose, come on back and we'll have a beer together. Remember, Buell people are cool people.

Most new models have some "technical" issues when first introduced, best to wait a year or two for most of the bugs to get worked out.

This applies to cars, planes, motorcycles, etc.

If you want to be the first to have one, better do a lot of research and take a couple of test drives and then still expect a surprise or two.

Always been that way.

No no Mainstreamer, your fingers typed the wrong thing, I said "Buell people are cool people". You must have technical difficulties in your first year out of the box typing fingers. It happens with most new models.

Fresno.., no misery here, no regrets having owned 2 Buells in the past, I may own another someday when they have all the bugs out of the 1125.

Jeezzz, didn't realize there was a fight going on. Thought it was just a bunch of the faithful attempting to validate their decision to own a 1125. You guys should spend more time on your Buells and less time on the keyboard, it's good for you.

What pleasure do you guys get in pi$$ing all over the shoes of those that choose not to walk down your path??? Most folks loss that behavior by the time they enter the 8th grade.

Fresno: +1.

Ya know how when you enter some websites it redirects you to another page? It'd be great if we could do that here. After you use up your allowance of irrational personal attacks (say, two), you get sent to a site that LOOKS just like BadWeB --- maybe even has all the authentic forums and posts --- but no one except you and the other trolls ever sees a damn word you write, ever again. Never get another answer to any rant, to any comment, to any question. The consequence of abrasiveness is irrelevance.

Well Fresno, I think it is.

Mainstramer referred to us as "potentially"

"CAN BE CRUEL,SELF SERVING, BIGOTED"

I would tend to believe that it is aimed at me and many others here.

So,let me address it one at a time:

- CAN BE CRUEL
Speaking for myself,I try to address anybody's question with respect and honesty. Not cruelness. I reach into my own experience with Buells to give an accurateness assessment as I possibly can.

- SELF SERVING
Nope. Does not apply to me. If I contribute to a subject, it is to to share my experience (again) and to help somebody else that is looking for information. In other situations, I will contribute to a healthy discussion on a topic related to Buell. Not to gain glory (self serving) but to gain knowledge.

- BIGOTED
This is clearly wrong. I have not experienced member of this board to be racists or "off colored" in their remarks regrading people of other colors, origins and religion. On the rare occasion that that occurs the custodians step in and quickly stamp out that kind of behavior.

I make these statements based on my own behavior and what I observe from others contributing to this board.

So..I think Mainstreamer's remarks were insensitive and uncalled for.

What the hell happened to this place?

When I joined in 01, the group was a lot smaller and a lot cooler(headed). There was a couple of guys who stirred the pot a bit, so to speak, and I am thinking of Dyna and Rocket. But, they were honestly passionate about the brand.

When the XBs came out, the board flared up a lot. A newer, younger crowd swarmed the board and brought a lot of controversy and argument.

The 1125 board is just another step, deeper into the pool of antagonizing trollisms. Its flooded with people who feel they have the right, and the need, to pound 1125 owners brains with statements of the bikes failures. They NEED to make sure we feel our bikes are ugly and unreliable (and un American) Where does this need to be so outlandishly negative come from? Why do I NEED to know they think my pods are so ugly at every whim and opportunity? What about a person, who does not own an 1125, drives that self consumed idea that everyone either needs to conform to their opinions, or be a blind kool-aid drinker? Why, as a non owner, does anyone think their negative opinion is so valuable to an enthusiasts board? How, or on what level, do they think they are contributing positively?

Why cant the Buell enthusiasts, on a Buell enthusiasts website, be happy and enthusiastic about our bikes?

Thats how it was in the past, can it be again?
