Force, WhiteBrothers, and Bub are discontinued - I would try contacting the MFGRs first to see if they have any in stock and what vendors they sold to who may have a few still in stock, and then the major vendors - DennisKirk,American Sport Bike, and Motorcycle.com to see if they are selling - another source is the want adds here at the BADWEB, and Ebay always has stuff poping up -
Hope that helps!

So, Kerker, V&H, and Pro-Series are all that's left....

Kerker looks weird,

V&H wears out fast and has to be re-packed

Pro-Series is heavy, and has a weird header shape.

WTF!

D&D is a great exhaust system - my bad for typing that earlier - I ment Force - and is a vailable, also if you can find a hard working
Whileyco Rep - you might be able to import one of those by now. That would be top of the line by now - other countries - Australia, Itally, etc. already have it - the hard part is getting it in the States, but by now I figure a good rep should be able to import one into the USA!
You could always go the Custom route - been done countless times already - would not be that hard of challenge for any pipe and welder kind of guy - Your prefered pipe ID would be 1 3/4", the lip is easy - header length is tricky but I could always measure the WB for ya, or you could go with another - there are an infinate number of cans out there to hook up to the header - so that is no problem. Don't forget to jet!

It helps to know exactly what you're trying to get out of the exhaust. Some are more durable that others.
some louder, some better performance, some high maintenance.
PS White Bros is 'race only'due to its reliability issues.(you guys know I had to say it)!

Has anyone tried mounting a Sportster drag pipe yet?
They are cheap, easy to come by and should last forever.

Kerkers a very good choice - sooner or later you may want to try a different can on the main header pipe, but otherwise a great choice!

I hate to sound like a scratched CD, but...

BUY THE BUELL PRO SERIES INTAKE & EXHAUST. They're good products. Despite the willy factor everyone here feels, we're closing in on 10,000 miles with the Pro Series intake WITH NO BRACING without a carb boot failure. Off topic - but kinda worth mentioning as a package install with the exhaust.

The ProSeries exhaust is wonderful. It's just plain nice, robust, and makes broad, useful, streetable power. Don't worry about the extra weight unless you're in a super competative race class. My opinion, anyway... The weight is the trade you make for a well constructed pipe.

I have to agree with Saro. I have both as well, and 7k on the exhaust, at least 2 on the intake. I did however make a small brace for the intake, just in case.

You can bottom out the Kerker jumping curbs with two people on, but otherwise is a fine pipe.

I'll say mine is a sturdy exhaust! I recently lifted the stock exhause, and the new one is definitely lighter, despite being made with automotive grade pipe. Someone recently told me it sounds like a machine gun. I did it for free-flowing exhaust. The loud part was just a side-effect.

I'll second Saro - I've only had my Pro-Series stuff for a few hundred miles (CURSE being 6500 miles from my motorcycles!) but I am very, VERY impressed with both the intake and the exhaust. I did have a brace for mine made from an old billet alumnum brake lever from an M2, though...gonna have to paint it and clean up the bracket when I get home...

...anyways, the power difference is noticeable, the sound is incredible, and the price was great - under $300 for both.

I must correct myself
The Kerker also rubs pavement when leaning left with two people on board.
Me thinks I will try the Pro Series pipe on the other Blast when I gets in the mood.

(Sorry I just watched the last Lord of the Rings)

Yeah they cut a lot out of the book on the third part/movie. The nice thing about the Kerker is - when you finally get tired of the cross piece and their can, you can cut and add your own can and there are a lot of choices out there. Also the fact that you would probably be using one of the best headers (now unrestricted by the crossover pipe being gone) made for a Blast in the first place is a great reason to keep the header at least - lol -

Question of the day:

Who can tell me what size the exhaust nuts are? Mine fell off (too much anti-seize?) and I need to get a couple more.

Part # DA0500.12FZ - flange nut - 5/16 - 18, hex, zinc - thats all the tech data I have on them from the parts manual (darn things been as usefull as the service manual) - just torque them to the right spec and you should be fine.

Strange. I got the 18s, but the threads looked wrong, so I got 24 as well. It was the 24!

Thats weird - the parts manual says 18 - sigh - another factory goof?- Yes - I called Garrett - the parts expert - and he confirmed 24 not 18 - although the part number is right the dimensions aspects are incorrect! Another manual FUBAR - damn!

OK, Congrats EZ you just drew my first post to this board... I love the look of that exhaust, Is that straight tube, is it packed, or does it have baffles? I've been considering trying to do something similar. Best yet, who made that rearset???? First one I've seen that gets me interested.

From my buddy Sean:
I purchased and installed a Khrome Werks muffler onto my '02 Blast. I
mounted it onto the end of the header pipe from my V&H exhaust, to
see if I can get it a tad less loud. It was part of a set of 2 for a
FXR HD I believe. Doesn't have a baffle, but does route the exhaust
thru an internal "maze". The one I used is 21" long the other is
around 18", wonder if the shorter one will sound different. Not much
noise reduction with the 21"er... sigh... Still want to make it a bit lower in volume(noise), but not as
extreme as stock. any ideas?

I talked with him over the phone - though we live only a few blocks away - lol - and his next move will be to investigate Euro cans because of Euro noise regulations are stricter.

The rearsets are modified Banke units - pegs raised and a matching colored plastic backing for a little style. Sean does a really good job on his bike!
By the way - Welcome!

Sooo those are the mysterious Banks rears. If motorcyclestore.com ever gets their site back up I'll get a look. Sigh...
My thoughts on exhaust were to run a two inch header pipe all the way back to about the middle of the trans. Weld a cap on the end then perforate the last 10 to 16 inches and sleeve it in three inch. Hard to sketch it here... I have absolutely NO CLUE what backpressure this bike wants yet, if it even wants any. (I've caught a few posts on exhaust leaks causing problems but haven't followed the threads too far yet.) It's a craps roll but why not try?
Suggestions for you? Hey, I'm just a country boy who aint done nothing or been nowhere... That being said, if can find a way to pack it (Steel wool and a stainless mesh to keep it from spraying out?) or add a supertrap, but either way it'll increase backpressure. Way I understand it, if you really want to make something quiet, it's all about dead air space, thus the big air cavities in mufflers. Hard to refit your pipe to have those...

Try American Sport Bike or Banke themselves - there is a link in the Links to Stuff you Can't find Here section - they are very good people - I got my Force intake from them, and though I later rejected it for being too heavy, it was at a good price and fast friendly service and selling it for less than Force themselves - probably their mfgr. - lol - good folks! Hope that helped!

I have a 2k3 Blast. The PO put on the "Sport Exhaust". Has anyone ever modified this setup up to reduce noise. The jets are ported and there is a K&N filter on it...

thnx

Which brand 'sport exhaust' did they put on?
Some are louder than others, some need maintenance when they get loud, only one or 2 are actually 'adjustable'.

the pro-series is loud, can't change it, you'll get use to it : ) yours is set up like mine (Pro-series K&N filter, pipe, rejetted, etc, but i just won those Pro Series cams on eBay, so those will go in within a couple weeks, after i get new gaskets >: )

I believe the Pro series is the most quiet performance exhaust available for the Blast. The White Brothers may be quieter (with less than stock discs) but isnt worth the money (P.O.C.)
So, I believe your only quieter choices are custom exhaust or go back to stock.(dont pay full price for a stock exhaust-they are a dime a dozen).

Thanks folks... this is all as I assumed, but one hasta ask...

my crazy thought was to "open up" the duals and tack in some baffles to temper the impact... w/o hearing protection, this exhaust will do permanent damage to ones ears...

Anyone know much about muffler theory and what baffles would do what?

I cant easily explain the muffler theory, but even a loud exhaust can cut back on power, meaning that you could still wind up with a loud exhaust but stock power band if you alter the baffling.
If you are concerned with noise, you need to go back to stock or run the exhaust out to the back of the bike or get ear plugs.Unfortunatly because of where the exhaust is situated on the bike anything louder than stock is going to be loud to your ears (unless you run it out to the back of the bike).
