As long as they aren't stripped or damged, yes they are labeled. I just opened up my float bowl today to change them out. Good luck!

Just got the exhaust welded and she sounds awesome with a new gasket and a full exhaust. Rode her last night and this morning and was able to get her to 60 without any real big issues and on a slight decline was able to get her to 70. That's about all she had though.

I have noticed that some popping has been occurring when riding around, so I'm guessing that is a sure sign of weak or fuel starvation in the carb. Haven't noticed it is is strictly under full throttle or not, but have noticed it. I'll be calling Harley today to see about some new jets for the bike. Is there anything I need to look into to ensure no big damage has been done?

Go to a 46 / 170 jet combo.

Concur! Let's get your carb set up first. If they don't have a number 46, get a number 45 (which is stock on many Harley's.
Sorry I missed your post.

I went for the 45/170 thought that 46 would be too rich for a stock exhaust at this time. Just got everything from the Harley shop and plan on breaking everything down hopefully this week.

44, 45, 46, just a matter of how far to turn the idle mixture screw out, more or less. You'll be good. If it hesitates (or flat spot) during acceleration you can shim the needle (which will help anyway). One step at a time, though! Chart your progress.

I got home and pulled apart everything to get to the carb and find out that 2 screws were jacked up so I will be replacing them with some others that I will get in a couple of days.

I also found out the the Main Jet is a 170, although I cannot read what the Slow Jet is. The stamps on both the new and old look about the same, not to mention the old jets look like they have been recently changed.

I'm at least going to change both out for ones that I know are new know they are good jets. Little at a time I will be replacing what I can find wrong with it.

I take it back I spoke an untruth earlier, I purchased a 45 Slow 175 Main.

175 will be a little rich, but doable.

Well I saw where the previous owner drilled out a hole in the muffler on the opposite side of the exhaust outlet and figured that with the stock exhaust being modified I should go ahead and bump the main jet up a little.

In reality, the 170 is fine. They lean out the low rpms for the EPA, hence bumping the slow/pilot jet to a #45. Putting in an extra hole doesn't necessarily make the exhaust more free flowing, just louder.
Shimming the needle is the next step. After the midrange is sorted from doing that, then move to the main. The 3 overlap and shimming the needle will affect the slow and main jets, to a degree. But thats the order I do it in: slow jet-needle-main jet. But those who actually spend the time tuning their carb may do it differently. Unless you have a dyno and air/fuel gauge, tuning the carb is a learned art-like truing a wheel. You get better with practice.

The redesign of the rear hole to a large square in the upper left corner was done by Drummer and does have a net power gain. The dual hole design came from Lafayette and though the power gain is less, there is a power gain - less back pressure - though the plus is a better sound as well. Me - I tune by af gauge and rpms - lol

Do you mean that this particular exhaust was done by Drummer?

You'd have to show me a side by side dyno that just drilling a hole had positive power gains throughout the rpm range.

Laf was a crackpot. I never saw him add anything that was revolutionary, but saw him put forward many ideas that were not based in fact (knowledge), often just contrary just to be contrary or just plain hogwash. He tried to manipulate opinion in his favour and I never saw an honest attempt from him to help anyone. If there was, it was very self serving. All I saw were attempts to inflate his ego. Just because someone's dead, doesn't change my opinion of them.

Ok so I uncapped the idle mix screw and am on to the next step. How far out should I adjust the mix screw to start on the path of a proper mixture? Do you guys think I should stick with the stock 170 main jet or leave the 175 main jet and adjust accordingly?

2 1/2 turns out. Stick with the 170. Shim the needle as your next step.

Ok so I may have made a boo boo, when adjusting the Mixing Screw, it went straight through the carb and into the throttle butterfly housing. Will this cause a big issue and now I will need to look at getting a new carb due to the failure of myself not noticing the soft bottom?

It's a small hole, the size of the idle mix screw point is.

That hole is supposed to be there...it's where the air/fuel comes out after the needle meters it.

So I shimmed the needle with 2 #4 brass washers and put the carb back together. Tomorrow will be the moment of truth. Unless there is more things I need to work on before I start her up. Any suggestions?

We still don't really know if you've solved your problem, but I don't like changing too many things at once.
Start 'er up and see how it is!

Put her back together and she purrs o so good, going to try out highway speeds probably in the next couple of days.
Doesn't smell rich so I guess I got that right. She does have an odd idle at times but I will know more on it when I run her a little bit.

2 1/2 to 2 2/3 turns out of air screw - if popping on decel go out a 1/4 turn.

Ok so now she sounds like a whole new bike, a lot more throaty under throttle and got her up to 90 with ease. I'm not sure if the bike is supposed to be as throaty as it does but it sounds awesome. I'll try to get a video of it and post.

Loving the bike now, thank you for all the direction Gear.

Yes Erik - the corner cut idea was done by Drummer - it's in our history - yes it did produce a couple extra hp, but was too simple a mod to pay for, so gave it to us free. The two hole mod also gave a tiny bit more umph - as experienced by all who tried it, and it did give the bike a better sound.
