Yes you can fix it yourself.
Questions first:
Is your Blast bone stock, no modifications. If modified, how?
Did your blast ever run right or did you buy it that way?
Check the carb intake boot (yes, whoever had the carb off should have checked it, but they did give you back a bike that won't run, so....). Frankly I would take it off and inspect it. They can look perfectly fine on the bike.
Did you do anything (really anything) to your Blast before this problem started?
Did the person working on your Blast know anything about the Blast?
The problem is probably an easy fix, so be patient.

FWIW: Blast carbs rarely need to be taken apart "for a good cleaning". If someone tells you to take your carb apart "and give it a good cleaning", that literally translates to " I have no idea what's wrong with your bike and I hope that fixes it". It very frequently leads to more problems.

Usually when they sit for a long time and then have a problem it's from a clogged slow jet. Stale gas can be an issue. And due to Murphy's Law, safety switches go bad when sitting, though there really isn't any logical reason for it!!

Two things will cure 95% of most safety switch problems: clutch safety and kickstand safety.

First flip the clutch diode:

Clutch Diode - middle diode - Flip - link:
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/55319.html

That bypasses the clutch safety switch.
Then the kickstand safety switch is bypassed by joining the 2 wires that go to the kickstand switch together. The switch is at the kickstand. You can jump is with a piece of wire at the connector immediately before the switch (unreliable) or cut the wires going to the switch and join/splice them together. Do it on the kickstand side of the switch (leaving the wiring intact so a new switch can just be plugged right in).

WARNING! They are safety switches, put there for your safety. Disconnect them at your own risk!! I prefer checking to see if they are actually the problem first. The diode flip is easy to reverse and the wires to the kickstand can be joined back together. Most older motorcycles had neither switch, as did many built into the 2000's!!
But you do run the risk of starting the motorcycle in
gear or riding with the kickstand down without them.
