I know this topic is several times around the forum, but to clarify the adjustments for my installation of a Jardine exhaust with the quiet pack. The intake is totally stock, and the recommended changes are: 1. 45/175 jets, 2. shim needle .05", 3. adjust air screw at 2 2/3rds out from light bottom. |

Yes. That puts you close. Closer is up to you and your willingness and ability to fine tune it. |

Use stock front lower mounting hardware, not the hardware they provide. EZ |

And fine tuning it would be with the air screw only? I am mainly doing this because the stock exhaust is such a pain to work on, but how much improvement can I expect from this? Maggae Mae says it really helps on the expressway. ----------- I looked into the air intake for the first time and saw the carb throat. According to this: http://badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/20164/6 812.html I can change that venturi for an after market. Now you guys already told me a K&N filter by itself won't do much, but how about opening up that venturi? |

"Fine tuning" means adjusting everything to your bikes needs (weather, location, state of wear, modifications, etc) and your riding style. That can mean different jets, shims, a/f screw adjustment, timing, modifications, needles and any aftermarket add-ons. Recommendations put you in the ballpark or "close enough" for most people. They might even be perfect. |

If you really wanted to open things up to match the exhaust, get one of Dan's intakes to go with the Jardine. In addition to cleaning up the lines of the bike a LOT (IMO), it really opens things up nicely. I'm running a Jardine with the quiet core and one of Dan's intake stacks. The bike is a little beast now! It's no 1125, but it has more than enough power for any sane riding, and is an absolutely excellent little city bike. Adjust the air screw for peak idle, though it should be close to 2.5 turns out. If it's too far off in either direction, you may want to consider a different jet. |
