Hey, I have a '00 P3 that when I'm moving it around the garage I get a lot of friction. It almost feels like it's halfway in gear even if when in neutral. There's a soft buzzing/scraping noise that sounds similar to brake pads rubbing (but they're not). I recently bought the bike, and don't have a history of when the transmission was last service of any kind. I'm wondering if this is something that could be fixed by a tranny flush? or if I'm looking at something more in depth. |

First thing during the riding season the clutch will drag like you are describing. Ride it first, then it should be OK. It is a normal condition, just let it warm up in neutral, then shut the bike off, put it in gear, re-start the bike and drive away. After a few starts adn stops you should be good to go! |

It was doing this at the end of last season, but I hadn't had a chance to look at it. I did take it for a short ride yesterday though, still does it. On a flip note, I noticed that if I let out the clutch it dies, so I'm going to check the clutch cable and work from there. |

I am amusing that you are in neutral when you let the clutch out when it dies? Is the "N" neutral light on? |

If your Blast still moves when the clutch is pulled in when you are stopped you probably need to adjust your clutch. Easy Peasy...... Make sure that IF you need to adjust your clutch, that you adjust your primary chain first. If you aqdjust your primary too tight no amount of clutch adjustment will keep the clutch from dragging. |

It doesn't move when the clutch is pulled in, but it does die when you let the clutch out. It doesn't start to choke until the clutch is most of the way out again. |

Sounds like a kickstand switch has gone bad. This was just discussed in another thread last week. You could try jumping the two kickstand switch wires together. |

EZ, not sure what you mean by flip center diode in the fuse box. I see the two diodes there, and assume you mean diode 2, but do you mean to flip it the other way? On that assumption I tried that, and it didn't seem to fit , though I admit I didn't try to force it. Swampy, I'll see if I can find that thread |

Just took a closer look at the Diodes on my bike, They have a tongue & groove tab on them to ensure I put them in only one way. I tried to ignore that little factoid and flipped it anyways.. The bike wouldn't start. As far as bypassing the kickstand switch, should I jump them before the connector as your traveling towards the kickstand along that wire. |

Reading further on the Kickstand switch, I noticed that most people have problems where the bike dies completely and the bike is unrideable. The bike doesn't die if I roll on the throttle while letting out the clutch. I simply can't leave the bike in neutral without holding in the clutch. |

Clutch adjustment - asap - at the primary - Soft bottom means that, then the 1/4 turn back. If that doesn't work, let us know asap. - it could be a clutch bearing then, or cable. EZ |

Have you spun the wheel? Have you started the bike? Is it stuck in neutral or in gear? |

If you adjusted the primary chain by the book - it is too tight go at least 8 more flats out. And the clutch adjustment is to very loosely bottom that screw, then 1/4 turn back out. If that is all done, and your buttoned up, with clutch cable also adjusted at the cable and handle, try rolling the bike back and forth and then try to shift - some times it needs that bit of motion to release and engage. i have not moved it yet. i had it started and adjusted primary. its in neutral. i adjusted primary by sound. if primary was too tight, wouldn't it affect idle/ running?(it was ok) i adjusted clutch, and cable, but did it before primary. thanks guys!! |

If you havent turned the wheel, it might not shift. |

He doesnt say if he spun the rear wheel yet. Just running the engine, even in neutral, can be enough to spin the tranny gears and allow shifting. But maybe not.... |

i pulled the primary cover. i hooked up the shifter and it shifts. it feels real tight. i did it by hand, maybe thats it. it was tough to get it to move. it took a bit but i moved it up and back into neutral. what else should i check? |

Does it go into first? Are you sure you soft bottom the clutch adjustment then 1/4 turn? Try bringing the primary adjustment in about 3 flats. Does that help? EZ |

When you roll it in neutral - do you feel any resistance like the clutch is dragging? It would feel like the back brake is partially engaged/resistance. EZ (Message edited by ezblast on April 20, 2011) |
