So my left side of the bike was getting slowly louder. I adjusted the primary. I used the method in the manual and it was tight and making a whining noise. I decided to try to finger tight the primary. The distance from the jam nut to the bolt head is .300 of an inch. The factory spacer was .375 of an inch. IT sounds and feels better. I still have a little noise but it sounds more natural now. Why is the factory method so tight?

Bad info on their part - a little noise is good.

I would hazard a guess that the factory method would work if the primary is at the tight spot when the adjustment is performed...

LOL!
Could be thats the way they designed it, thinking it was standard primary fare without realizing they werent going to use an access hole.
I knew someone would have a plausible reason! (thanks saro)

Ok, lemme try this...

Heyzeus:

The "FACTORY" method is "BUELL-schitt".

"i" have tried the "OFFICIAL METHOD" in the "FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL" and, IMHO, it never works.

How was that?
