I want one!!! Ignition project is getting more time now that I'm not riding as much. I could set up a MAP sensor to determine timing advance. If it was $49.95, I'd grab one today! It's more, so that might be a later project...

That's funny! The illustration has the supercharger going backward! LOL!

Ok, I thought about it some more. 5% is 1.7 HP on the Blast. Is it worth it? It's a fan, for God's sake! I need another shot of rum...

does anyone have any big power numbers on the blast? always hear about the cams, exhaust, big bore kits, even turbos but i want to see dyno sheets. or i would even like to see a blast dyno shootout. does anyone know who has the most powerful blast??

Dyno Runs:
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/317855.html?1228539580
Many Blasters havent even ridden with another Blast! And we arent real ego conscious, so a dyno shootout hasnt happened. So look through the dyno's, that will give you some idea.

very interesting with the dyno charts. and i just like to take things and make em fast. like the blasts so id like to see one with a turbo pumping out 80 or 90hp on the dyno. think of the fun you could have on that.

There was a turbo blast on e-bay once that claimed 80hp...dunno...I do know that the most powerful normally aspirated blast motor is slated to be run at Bonneville this season..I believe the guys at JT&S performance are building it...it has a claimed power of 70hp...a streetable normally aspirated blast can get 40+ish hp and still be reliable...lean on it much harder and reliability becomes an issue for long term street use. The limit is in the cam chest and crankshaft...the tranny and primary are bulletproof at that level.

The turbo or supercharger is a good idea compared to radical normally aspirated...you wont need nearly as radical lift on the cams, which is the killer in this engine...

T3 might be a bit large if its what Ithink it is, a GT15 will make 13psi on 500cc

Well, i talked to the guys at NHRS and they put a damper on my HP expectations for the bike. I was planning on getting 70-80Hp with a new ported XB head, High Comp. piston, cams, and the turbo. They gave me an expectation of somewhere in the 50's. Well, ive never been one to be told "It cant be done" so im gonna build it up and boost the S**t outa it and see how strong the bottom end is.

Talked to Roger Goldammer himself. He's the guy that built that supercharged single cylinder board tracker. I, along with most ppl, apparently at first believed that he used a blast engine in it. He actually used one half of a big twin and with 59ci put out 130Hp!!! So it can be done. He also gave me alot of help and usefull info regarding forced induction on a long stroke single cylinder Harley based engine. Many thanks Roger.

The turbo i was looking at is the Garrett GT1241. This seems like a good turbo for the blast engine. Here is a link to the webpage on this turbo.

Not had time to do much of anything lately but work. I hit the end of what i could do without spending money, ie making frame, so now ive got money i just have to get the time to do it. Ive got a Garrett T-3 turbo but its to big for that engine so im either gonna sell it and buy a smaller one or possibly trade someone.

In the next couple weeks i will post new updates as they progress.

Been getting a lot of emails and people that are interested in how the turbo boardtracker is coming along.

Well, it has been slow as i've been kept real busy working on customers bikes. I just picked up a 4 under black springer front end from DNA and picked up a set of used wheels i think will look good, so just waiting to finish up a couple projects now and it'll be back to the blast.

If anyone has any questions for me you can email me at frankv@monkeywrenchmotorcycles.com

Ill be posting up a couple pics later this afternoon also

Looks like an interesting project. Nice to see someone else attempt this.

Now correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think it would have worked with the carb like that. If your doing a blow through turbo system wouldn't you have to build a box around the carb to pressurize the entire carb? Maybe i'm wrong. If you run a high pressure fuel pump it might work.

One other thing is i don't think Vacuum slide carbs work well with a turbo. I am planning to run a flat slide Mikuni with my setup.

he said it worked and even drove shortly, but their issue was oiling. they had an external pump but i guess it became a headache and he moved on to one of his million other projects. i think he said it would handle 5 or 6 psi on the stock carb. I know there was modifications done to make this work but not sure all of what was done. in the end it was taken back to stock and is still driven today

Pretty interesting. I would like to know what he did with the carb to run it with the turbo and also whether he got all the bugs worked out of the turbo setup. Also, as far as the oiling was concerned. Do you mean the oiling system for the turbo?

Here are some pics of some stuff for the custom blast im doing.

This is the DNA -4 powdercoat black springer i have.

These are the rims im using. They are 19" rims off of an old yamaha XS650. I have two matching front rims that im going to use F+R for that boardtracker look. They are going to be powdercoated before going on.

Had the surgery on my foot so im down and out for awhile.

I did trade a jet washer i had to a buddy for some custom turbo work though. I will be using the Garrett T-3 i had laying around. He will be building me a custom impeller for the turbo to get me the characteristics i want out of it.

well one more stab at a turbo blast 2003 low mile engine Schwitzer S1 off a Deutz 151 cid diesel set up as a draw through with a 48 idle jet and 220 to 240 main jet running blended E85 and gasoline to help with cooling and preignition. Also drilling the head for dual plugs and using a GM waste spark coil for a hot reliable spark. I was thinking 5psi on gasoline and 8on a 50/50 gas E85 any thoughts ???

The oil pump is the same. The old Sportster oil pump was a little bit smaller in the scavange side. Buell pumps are the latest and greatest.
