What's the one Buell model that you'd get (or you've already got) after a Blast and why?

Just curious...

For collection value -
the 1125CR, 3000 made +-; then the next best collectable would be the all Black European XB9S 2008 - 2009 - most reliable and badest styled XB made, after that, the 2003 XB9R, then the next would be a 2000 Blast, then would be the 98 S1W, then finally the 85 1000RR. All the rest you collect from your heart, and maybe their price would follow.
I chose the CR over the XB9 because I ran into a deal with Cr being less, couldn't say no. They also offered free black plastic as well - installed and keep the red as well - I just couldn't say no.

My heart skipped a beat when I first read about the Ulysses - loved the adventure, touring aspect of the bike...however my short legs cut the dream, well, short. Heck even with those six inch KISS boots I didn't stand a chance

Wait a minute, KISS boots, I may be on to something...gotta check the closet and see if that Ulysses is still on craigslist.

I just bought an 09 XB12XT. Great bike and I'm loving it in a major way. The ONLY negative thing I can say is that it's just about 3/4 of an inch to tall for my 30 inch inseam. It has the handling, riding comfort and the power to make it a great bike.

I'd still like a another Blast though. When my 16 year old son is ready for m/c lessons, I'll have an excuse to get another Blast.

I picked up an X1 for $1600. Best buy I ever made. I still have the Blast but it is currently in hiatus awaiting the return of my enthusiasm to get her fixed. I wouldn't want any other buell, apart from maybe another tuber with a carb' on it. I'm currently saving for a Versys to use as a commuter weapon!

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Cyclone?

I got the blast for my girlfriend to ride (may as well call her a Fiancee by now, engagement bike?) and I really like it. I got myself an X1 rather cheaply first.

One thing I like about the blast is that the bike feels like a toy despite being capable of highway speeds. It's just really comfortable and easy to ride. It seems like I could blow the piston through the head and, if the parts were ready, have it fixed within a day. I like simple machines.

The X1 is a beast and it's always tempting me to pull wheelies. I've been a good boy though, no wheelies since the time I messed up and dropped it. It's a very aggressive, very fast bike though. A real attention grabber.

I'd love to try one of the XB series, but I think I'm good. If the X1 explodes someday, I might try a small japanese standard/cruiser. Who knows.

Thanks guys! From time to time I see various Buell models on craigslist and wonder. Out in Hawaii we have a funny market because we are a captive population. Stuff that might be considered collectable isn't valued properly simply because there's not many "collectors" out here. Pretty much every Buell I've seen for sale used is about $4k or less. There's a cyclone for $3k and usually the guy will have to negotiate to sell it.
Of course the flip side is that there's very little to choose from..on any given day craigslist Kauai will only have 2-6 new motorcycle ads and 90% of those are dirt bikes.
I am looking at restoring a BMW airhead I saw for $1000 and could probably get for $700. A 1973 r 75/5..

Are the guys on the other Buell forums even 1/2 as helpful as you guys on the thumper forum? If they are, then that's a big plus! ^_^

Desert Fox,

I know what Milt means to a fish biologist. Hey, my name could be Dick, and you know what that means almost everyone !

Please note: This is not meant to knock the many fine Dicks hanging out on BadWeb.

I love my Cyclone and have since the first time I rode it in 2000 just after my friend purchased it new. I believe I hit 80 across the parking lot. It is a beast though so running errands around town can sometimes get annoying and why I understand people loving their Blast.

I will likely own several more bikes but never parting with the Cyclone. I've always wanted to ride an XB and finally sat on one last weekend but the CRs are such a bargain I'm not sure which one I would buy if I had the spare funds.

Picked up a Blast for my wife after she quickly outgrew the Ninja 250. She absolutely LOVES her Blast. I've ridden it a good bit while troubleshooting a few small issues and it is by far one of the easiest bikes to ride. People say the Ninja 250 is faster and it is but only if you redline it constantly. The Blast has twice the torque which is part of why it is so easy to ride.

Motorcycles are easier to fit in the garage than cars so I expect to have 4 or 5 in a few years.

Actually the old Ninja where faster with a top end of 100mph - which the 2000 Blast can do but none of the later 2001-2010 which where limited to 96mph. 2007 and up ninja are actually slower with a 92mph top end, this is due to the bit heavier bike and the re-gearing to make the bike more tractable in in-city riding. Now Honda's 250 is an interesting new entry, but though it looks nice there are no solid specs on it yet.

Correct but have to wind on the Ninja throttle a lot to get the power. We had a 2001 250.

New riders are not as comfortable with the high rpms, as was my wife. She got better but still felt like she was ringing its neck to get some power out of it. Also top heavy compared to the Blast.

Everyone is different but IMO the Blast is a better beginning bike with plenty of room to grow.

The wife now says the next bike will be a vrod...lol.

Guess I did it bass-ackwards.

Got the XB12Ss, 1125Cr, and THEN the Blast.

Love the Blast though. Just wish I could get more than 70-80 miles before hitting reserve. : )

Ulysses, rode one on a Daves buy and ride programs, loved it.

My girlfriend asked about burning her feet on the exhaust and I showed her where the exhaust was on it and Bingo! She loved it!

I think an S1 is one of the sexiest motorcycles out there, brutal power, light weight, bare bones.

XB 9, just cause I like small precise things, a TT because it is....well different though I really did not like it at first and thought it would not be sellable as it only was built for a very small segment of the motorcycle industry(I now stand corrected)
The next Buell I am really interested in buying is going to be built 5 years from now. After seeing the 450 Aprillia, I know a 500 V-twin Buell spec engine in a Buell frame would be incredible.

XB12STT (in white) or the White Lightning.
My wife actually tried to talk me into buying the TT while we were standing in the showroom. I said no (but I think that was just out of habit of telling her not to buy expensive things) : )
