Tale from the darkside:
Just riding my XB9SX home from the autoparts store, ducked behind the local strip mall to avoid making a left on the main road. Down the street and in the driveway... this is maybe two blocks total, and I'm visible to the main road only for a total of 100 feet. A Michigan Department of Transportation van stops at the end of my driveway and a guy gets out. He's walking up the driveway and I think I'm in trouble - the strip mall has signs up "no through traffic"... But the guy wants to talk about Buells... Says he has two Blasts and a Uly...I tell him I have a Blast and he can see the CityCross...He tells me his name and I realize I am talking to Swampy!!! We have been trying to meet up probably since 2002, and he just spots a Buell and stops to strike up a conversation. What a pleasure to meet you, Rob!

EZ - you would love the Natchez Trace, but with all those sweepers it is too hard to keep within the posted 50 mph speed limit. Every once in a while had to take notice and slow down as I am paranoid and I believe the signs that say: "speed limit strictly enforced", although, never saw a cop I could readily identify as a cop. They get tricky these days and cops don't always look like cops.

I will get back out there and ride it again, would love to do the whole thing, top to bottom.

CA though, that's where the really awesome roads are...wishing I could wake up tomorrow on the west coast.

I took a pretty good ride this past weekend as well, camped at a state park about 75 miles North of the metroplex. It was too hot to sleep, but great ride- though that's the last time I carry an old military duffle on the bike. Heading back yesterday I had that intermittently recurring hwy issue of my engine randomly cutting out, almost like a momentary lapse of fuel to the carb. Happens randomly, and I just got on the shoulder & switched the fuel valve from the On to Reserve while coasting- fired back up no problem. I went ahead & topped off my tank even though I knew I had plenty of gas (had only gone 80 miles on a full tank by then). That was the closest I had to a problem, and I hadn't figure the exact cause of the stalling. My vent hose is not occluded, recently pulled the fuel valve assembly for service, rejetted the carb a lil over a month ago, and I run minimum 91 octane. Has anybody used a simple inline fuel filter in addition to the in-tank screen? I've been thinkin about putting one on just to keep the small junk outta the carb, and have always used the small clear VW-type in the past.

The VW ones are what I use. Whats nice is about them and really the original reason for installing them was to be able to see if there was fuel in the line. I cant recall what problems I was having at the time I installed the filter though.....

Maybe water in the tank/carb? That's what was happening to my bike. The seal on the gas tank was bad and caused my float bowl to fill up with water. It would then stall the bike occasionally, while there was plenty of fuel in it. I would pull over and mess with the carb/switches for a bit and volia. Ready to ride.

Yeah, the in-line filter is a must!

Getting lost near Tallahassee Florida on one of the "Leon County Canopy Roads" old cotton trails all branching out from the capital city. The pavement abruptly ends and turns to Georgia Clay. The clay went on for about 10 miles and then we found pavement again only to have it end and this time was just dirt road that ultimately turned to sugar sand - so we were forced to turn around and backtrack. We did find our way out eventually.

Towards the end of the video just before the red clay ends you'll the the Blast overtake the Versys ; ) but not for long. Great riding around this area.

I hate cold weather, the whining starts at about 60 degrees and doesn't stop until it hits 85 again. However, I like to ride more than I hate the cold, so unless there is something wrong with the bike, it leaves the garage every weekend. Last winter was tough on me, many more cold days than I can ever remember, put my winter gear to the test.

Not complaining though, I know that being able to ride in the cold is better than having winterize it and having to deal with snow and ice. I can hear it now, "she thinks 40 is cold..."

You are not crazy, you are a motorcyclist...

I have decided to wear short pants all winter long. I will see how long I can do it.
I covered the tomatoes tonight because it is supposed to frost. I rode last Wednesday but I was cheating, it didnt get cold till after the sun went down.

Denial is a beautiful thing.

Swampy - you need to get yourself to Potterville and eat some gizzards, that will help with the whole denial thing

Still dealing with love bugs down here. Full face helmet really helps, unless you accidentally rub some bug juice into your eye...rode home tonight with one eye. Jury is now out on whether I will be able to see well enough to ride tomorrow.

Neighbor comes up to me as I finish up putting on the tail light - watched as I tested the brake light, then said, "Thats a really nice bike, did'nt know you ride, I ride a TL1100." I smiled, said thank you, and mentioned, I'd been familiar with Buells for while, he said, "I thought this was a Buell!" we talked for a bit - he noticed a stock chassis to the side and could tell how modified my bike had become. Funny how this little bike just draws folks eyes. Going for a ride tomorrow - just my favorite local twisties - gotta keep the skills up, and a properly modified Blast is just the ticket!
From stock to this,

From that to this,

From that to this (soon to change)

We spend most of our time just the two of us riding back country, but when we do show up to a bike event, the coolest part is all the people who want to know "what kind of bike is that?" It is a real conversation starter.

Enjoy the ride EZ

What I did this weekend - chop my tail (a tad rough, but easy to fix in time with my friend Dremel - but this gives you an idea, added a more modern tail light and signals - the new auto flasher automatically adjusts for LEDs, the Trail tach works awesome and simple install, front and rear are Acerbis items, the signals from ebay and very bright, put on the Profi-style Teflex clip-ons, Ultimately comfy once again. With the new Corbin adding to comfort and the new look - lol - now a very modernized Blast (levors to show any day to finish the details), so much so that I had to update my CR to match my Blast by using the clear 2010 tail light - lol - now thats Blasting on the Dark side!

Ed, the two main lights look like they're pointing downward. Is that the case?, are they supposed to point that way so as not to be right in the face of other motorists? Oh and the pimpin snake skin Corbin looks BadAss!!!

Yeah - its supposed to be that way - lol - all of my fairings point downward, its just that you can see it more with this style - the lights work as good as my old Acerbis Diamond, but the look with the other LED strips on the fairing's side is cool - I tried taking a pick with the lights on, but too bright for a close up - will try again after I fiddle with the new camera some more.
