EZ. I am a member of the FSSNOC. Four Stroke Single National Owners Club.

They are putting together their 2011 events for the year, and they are wanting to have one of their Thumper Cafe's in California. They are wanting somebody to step up and help coordinate this event.

The Thumper Cafes are pretty cool. They set up a destination, arrange for a cafe to meet and people will drive from all over the country for lunch and to meet other thumper owners.

This could be a great opportunity to have something along the northern california coast....any interest? REX

Well I finally got to finish up working on getting the bike running correctly. Between the new born and deployment I totally missed riding this summer.

What damage could happen if you mix up the push rods?

If it actually ran without shutting down, then the damage would be minimal if at all. If it shut down while running, then possibly a bent valve and broken guide. If it didnt run, then maybe just a bent valve.
My guess is you'd at least get some clatter from the side with the too short pushrod.

it had a little clatter, i thought it was a lifter that needed to get pumped back up. the bike did 70mph with the switched rods.

Check rods for truness, and valves for seating correctly.
If good, proceed.

.....but I certainly wouldnt pull the head off to check the valves. Just switch the pushrods and do a compression check.
I seriously doubt you've done any damage.

I swapped the rods to the correct sides and forgot to do a straightness check.
I can do compression check, it will not happen until this weekend. I am not riding the bike right now any ways.

Oh, I can't believe how the sifting feels since this motor had the shift paw adjustment done.

If you didnt smack a valve then you didn't bend a pushrod and valves tend to bend easier than pushrods.

Thanks to those that made it out to the November ASBN meeting last night. Quite a success for our first night at Dick's.

ASBN booth at the International Motorcycle Show.

We have a great opportunity to participate in the International Motorcycle Show this year, with a 10 x 10 booth promoting ASBN. At no cost to us.

Here is the scoop. We need volunteers to man the booth, and promote ASBN to the Motorcycle Enthusiasts in the Bay area and beyond, and a chance to also show off some Buell Motorcycles.

I need to make sure we have enough people to man the booth, for our deadline to participate is Friday of this week, November 5th.

The date of the show is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, November 19th, 20th, and 21st, and it will be in San Mateo.

The hours of the show will be as follows: Friday night-4 pm till 9 pm. Saturday-9:30 am till 8 pm. Sunday-9:30 am till 5 pm.

Set up for the show will be on Thursday night. Teardown of the show will be Sunday evening after the show is closed.

Here is what we need. Please let me know which part you can do for us.

Thursday night set up. (exact times to come, probably after day work hours, Thursday evening) We will need the following things set up:
-Our ASBN banner to the booth, and hung up on the back curtain and drape.
-Possible table cloths on our back or side table. Maybe a six foot table. I will verify.
-Two or Three Buell Motorcycles, Washed, Waxed and in good Shape.
-Hand out items for the booth. Meeting location cards, Website cards, etc.
-Case of water for the workers working the booth.
-I will work with those volunteering on this to show how we would like the booth set up.
-Probably two people would work out great. Two people_________________, ______________________. ( energetic, motorcycle enthusiasts)

Friday show time help.
-Times to work. 3 pm till 9:30 pm. Two people. ___________________,________________________. (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General) Attire. Buell Shirts of some sort.

Saturday show time help.
-Three shifts on Saturday, if possible.
-Shift 1. 8:30 am till 12:30 pm. Two people. REX CHANEY,________________ (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General) Attire. Buell shirts of some sort.
-Shift 2. 12:30 pm till 5 pm. Two people. ____________________, _______________________. (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General) Attire. Buell shirts of some sort.
-Shift 3. 5 pm till 8:30 pm. Two people._____________________, ________________________. (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General) Attire. Buell shirts of some sort.

Sunday show time help.
Three shift on Sunday, if possible.
-Shift 1. 8:30 am till 12:30 pm. Two people. ________________,_______________________. (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General.) Attire. Buell shirts of some sort.
-Shift 2. 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm. Two people. _________________, ______________________. (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General) Attire. Buell shirts of some sort.
-Shift 3. (pack up) 3:30 pm till 6:30 pm. _____________________, _____________________. (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General) Attire. Buell shirts of some sort, plus pack up cloths. It would be ideal if the people working this shift are the people that helped set up the booth. They would need to take down banner, pack up the booth, and move the motorcycles out of the area, making sure it is as clean as it was when we arrived.

You can contact me at 925 451 3560, or at Buellv@gmail.com. REX CHANEY. I would like to know by Thursday morning, November 4th, if you can work any of the above positions. If we do not have the people, we cannot do the booth. If we are going to do this, we have to do it correctly. I am assuming that if you are a worker of the booth, you will be able to park and enter the buildings at no cost to you.

Thanks, REX

Forgive me, for I have sinned.....

What started out as a simple handlebar adjustment surprised me with a brake light out. After some testing I found a break in the 15 inches of wire between the stoplight switch and the rear harness. Well to pull the wiring harness out and properly fix it was at least a 3 hour job and I really dont have the time.
So I just 'scotchlocked' a patch wire in and circumvented the harness.

I'm so ashamed : (

I'm not sure how many nights I'll be dancing around the Oak tree in penance....

Hey guys,
My blast is acting up. It started choking once in a while when I would accelerate after idling at a stop light. I didn't make much of it because it would usually happen when cold and not really all that often.
This weekend I wanted to go for a ride and could not get it running. It would shut off with a popping sound coming out of the air filter box. I looked inside the box and it was smoking a little which I'm guessing there should not be any smoking going on around the air intake.
I felt this popping around the air intake before and wondered if that was normal.
After that I just couldn't get it to start, the engine turns over but that's that.
I'm also wondering if that could be related to my over-filling the oil tank.

Any tips very appreciated!

Cheers
