What's up guys.

I had it sitting all winter, but was able to get it going and running fine for a couple of rides. Then one day it just died on the freeway like it ran out of gas, but wouldn't re-start when I switched to the reserve tank. Now I have replaced the carb-manifold coupler, but it still dies when I apply the throttle. Any ideas?

Also sorry if this is a redundant post - I looked through some of the older ones, but didn't find this problem. Thanks

Alright I was afraid of that. Well I drained the gas tank and put some new gas in, so I guess I should clean the carb then. Thanks. I'll let you know how it goes.

DONT clean the carb. Remove the slow jet and make sure its clean. You should be able to see all the holes or if you havent already done so, just buy a new #45 slow jet and replace it with that. #45 is stock on many Harleys so the local dealer should have one.

Too many newbies have taken erroneous advice to "just give the carb a good cleaning" and have ended up with many more problems than they started with. Carbs rarely "just need a good cleaning". They are a sealed unit and unless they been subject to abuse (or sabotage) or very serious neglect, not much goes wrong with them except the slow jet gets clogged.

My apologies if you are a 'carb expert'. I mean no offense.

I am not a carb expert so thanks for the advice.

I took the carb off, removed the float bowl and took the main, needle and slow jets out and cleaned them. I also sprayed out the slow speed circuit, the main circuit and the float bowl vent. I put it all back together and the bike runs great. Thanks for the help.
