A salesman talked me out of buying a fairing for my blast. It was a Givi a602. His thought is that the wind would concentrate on neck and head making the neck muscles work too much, and there it's better to spread that force evenly not having a windscreen at all. I am totally new to motorcycling so I have nothing to compare.

True. (salesman is correct)
Though I cant speak for the a602, the stock Blast screen gives me the 'bobble head' effect, concentrating the wind at my neck so I'm constantly fighting wind turbulence. I cut about 3 inches off the stock flyscreen and it worked very well, ditching the screen altogether when I changed the headlights.
The Blast accessory windshield works very well as it is tall enough to completely shield you from the wind.
If you add rearsets and low bars a windscreen of the Givi height may work well, especially if you tuck in behind it.
For me its all or nothing and I go with nothing except on the racetrack.

Feel whats real, live windshield free!

PS The stocker comes off easily with 4 bolts and goes back on just as easily. Try going without it and see how it feels.

So the Buell accessory screen is taller?

The protection of the screen is even with the top of the screen or does it go higher?

I have the lowered seat and I'm 5' 7"

I have been running a Givi A755. I'm 6'1". I have Superbike bars and no rearsets. The screen deflects 75-80% of the wind blast at, or slightly over my head. The top edge of the screen is "scooped" to channel the air up. I tried the OEM aftermarket screen. I, too, experienced the "bobblehead effect" with it. The Buell screen is 3-4" taller than my Givi.
I am currently running the standard (small) screen as it is summer here in Fla.
Good luck. If you make it to Fla you are welcome to try out my screen.

@Gearhead, are you referring to the bobblehead effect as to to the stock screen or the official after market Buell windshield for $199?

@Britchri10, as for the OEM aftermarket screen, its taller but less effective than the a755?

Personally, I find the Givi to be superior than the OEM aftermarket screen in deflecting windblast, thereby minimizing the "bobblehead" effect. Please bear in mind that this is purely my opinion and may not reflect your experiences.

How do the heights differ? Do you think its the flip at the end of the Givi that helps, or is it the height?

The Blast OEM accessory windshield ($199) is very, very, tall. (Sycho runs one). Since we all are different, Britchris experiences the bobblehead effect with the tall windshield. I dont see how thats possible, but I'm not 6'1" either!
So what works for one, may not work for everyone.

If you look halfway down the pack in this picture you'll see the stock flyscreen next the the Buell windshield.

My head rattles with the tall Buell aftermarket windshield because I am 6'1" and I sit very upright on the bike. My helmet extends about 4" above the tall windshield with the aftermarket (Sargeant) saddle I have. (The Sargeant is about 2" higher than the stock seat.) With a "low" seat the top of my helmet is about level w/the top of the Buell tall screen. less wind effect on my helmet, more cramps in my legs!
The Givi screen seems to be better for me with either seat. Maybe it deflects more windblast over my helmet or it disperses the windblast across a greater surface area of my helmet. Unfortunately, I have never actually quantified the effects of the two screens other than by the traditional "seat of the pants" method.
I hope this helps.

i think I will get the Buell one. 1/2 a foot shorter than that and I use the 25 inch seat, so it appears from all of the information here that coverage will be very good. THANKS TO EVERYONE.

Yeah, you should be good with the Buell one then. It also retains its resale value if you take care of it and decide you dont like it (the windshield).

Britchris: You really should post a pic of "the tall mans Blast" just so we can see how the Givi stacks up and how you made the Blast comfortable for you (unless its posted elsewhere-but I remember you saying it was at the moment a ratBlast as you were letting your wife ride it and didnt want to post a pic of it in that condition!)

THE BUELL BLAST WINDSHIELD IS OUT OF PRODUCTION. The only ones left are those in stock, and that's going to be darn few. I ordered a Givi A602 but it seems they all get shipped straight from Italy and no one stocks them here.

There are Buell windshields around if you really want one. If the dealer (try our sponsors) cant find you one, there will always be one going up on e-bay and also at the Badweb classifieds.
Like I said, if you buy one and dont like it, you can dern near get your money back when you sell it. I'm not so sure about the Givi. The Givi probably has more style though. There are also cheaper options through JC Whitney and others, so shop around.

Personally, I think the buell accessory wind shield is silly looking. The flyscreen is cool, different. Just a classic buell look. Minimal, naked, kind of raw.

A Givi 650 to 750 are the usually used styles for the Blast. Maggie has had both the Buell and the 750 Givi - she definitely prefers the Givi

And if you happen to own a purple Blast with a buell windshield, you'll earn the nickname "Batgirl".
