Hi all, first post. My wife has decided that she wants to learn how to ride. She is 5'1" with short legs. She has been sitting on a lot of bikes and the Blast seems to fit her the best (we are not cruiser people). I see a lot of Blasts for sale. Are there any significant differences in the year model changes. Any year we should stay away from or any year we should look for? She wants yellow, but we don't seem to find many that color. Is the plastic still available and how much? Thanks |

welcome to the the Thumper Forum Csaw! The Blast is pretty much unchanged from year to year 2000-present. If you can, try to find a late model, unmolested Blast. The 2000 model year Blast had a recall on the rear sprocket, and about up to 2002 there were Blasts built with a substandard paper rocker box gasket that will start leaking at about 3,000 miles. Other than that not alot to look for, other than the obvious things. |

Thanks, Is it expensive to replace the entire plastic? We are looking, but it appears the only yellow ones are either old or new. Not much in the in-between market. Thanks |

Yellow is a bargain colour. Be patient and what you want will eventually come up on e-bay. $450-$500 new. Possibly 1/4 that for used. Choosing a used Blast on colour is a bad way to go. Overall condition is more important and if you find a nice black model, you'll have a line of people wanting to trade you for that black bodywork. Black is the most popular colour and usually sells at a premium. PS Welcome and good luck on your search! |

Thanks for the info. I would not buy a piece of junk for the color. Good to know that black is desirable since about 80 percent of the ones I find are black. I would probably try to find yellow plastic for her and keep the black for when it comes time to resell. Thanks again |
