OK picked up another Blast 02 with 3000 miles, only problem is holding throttle steady at 2200 rpm every 4-5 secs it will cut out and come alive as if you were flicking the kill switch on/off fast.I get a cough thru the intake and a backfire and a knock on the motor all at the same time?? Removed the boot see no cracks but pretty loose on the carb until I tighten the clamps. There is a 6R12 H-D plug in the motor which had alot of black soot on it. This is not the plug listed in the manual, what plug should I use? Bone Stock.

10R12 is the proper plug. Replace boot - it is old!!!!!!!!! If still happening let us know, but until you replace the old!!!!!!! boot you won't really know if your hiding symptoms or actually taking care of the problem. (would you have 8+ year old water hoses on your car? - Probably not, nor should you have them on the bike as well - so I'd bee thinking about the rest of your hoses being replaces as well - lol).

OK, Thanks for your help.....again. I will let you know either way. It will be in 2 weeks, that`s how long it will take me to get a boot. Also I picked up a clutch cover gasket and the thick gasket has been changed to the thin XB cover gasket. Anyone use this yet?

You'll need the updated cover. I dont know if you can get that gasket to work with the old cover. It will probably take a bunch of silicone to do it though. I've had good luck reusing the old gasket (with a little silicone!).

Great News, I was able to try a good boot from the other Blast and a new plug and the motor runs very well, no more cough or backfire. I tried driving it up my driveway and into my garage but the clutch grabs so quick and stalls out. Even releasing slowly at the very end just before you let go completely is stalls out, it just grabs so dry at the end??(even while over reving it) Note all interlock system is now working. Any ideas??? Thanks guys, You truly are great.

Adjust the clutch at the primary and practice. The Blast has a small clutch friction zone.
