What's up guys? Has anyone installed an oil cooler on a BLAST? I got caught in traffic on 95 the other day and I was pretty nervous about over heating. I was looking at my neighbor's Harley and he has an oil cooler installed on his bike(aftermarket). He said it probably wouldn't be a big deal to install one on my bike. What do yall think? I would assume you would tie. The only problem I see though is fitting the radiator in with the header, frame, and forks. Thanks

The Blast is HD/Buell's coolest running motor. Tested in Death Valley during the summer months.

I don't see where it would help, but every little bit....

They are pricey, hell I have two, if they ever get dedicated to track days, I'll put them on, though if I lived in a desert climate, I would add one as well.

Well, not so pricey. I just bought two off e-bay. One brand new for $105 and the other used (in almost new condition) for $50. You can also find them new for $50 on ebay in various sizes (non mc specific) and used motorcycle specific (Jagg).
Does the Blast need it-not really. After a very hot day in LA traffic I got one for the big bike. They help on the twins. After 114 degree heat at the July races, I got one for the raceblast as the engine did suffer.
I got a Lockhart (very common HD cooler that I havent seen for sale in a while) which attaches with hose clamps and I mounted it to the subframe under the seat. It connects in the return oil line to the frame. Not hard.
The Jagg style made for Buells mounts on a plate by one bolt just below the front engine mount. There is room to fit a cooler on the front frame rail as long as you dont run a steering dampener and the exhaust isnt in the way.

Is under the seat the best place-no. But thats where I had room and it being racing, airflow is constant there and there isnt any stop and go traffic! It also sheds heat which is the most important thing. It heats up fast and five minutes later when the frame was still hot, the oil cooler was cool to the touch.

The XB cooler, which would be the "Holy Grail" of Blast coolers, is very expensive. Occasionally they go up on e-bay, but not usually cheap. But if you just want a cooler it can be done cheaply and easily.

Jagg online instructions and a Blast repair manual can show you where to hook it up.

PS dont get led into thinking you need an oil filter adapter to run oil cooler lines.

PS dont get led into thinking you need an oil filter adapter to run oil cooler lines. More extra parts you really, really dont need.

OK if I don't need it that's good. I just was wondering about it. Thanks for the info.
