I am growing more and more interested in the pro series cam set. Will I notice much of a performance increase? How difficult is the install? Is it good or bad for the stock engine's lifespan? Thanks. Also, are the pro-series and the andrew's B50 cams the same thing? Is one better than the other, quality wise? Thanks

I have the Andrew B-50, the Pro-series has the same specs but an even gentler ramp, you don't feel the cam kicking in at all - you do a tiny bit on the B-50 at around 2800rpm, both are cleaning up the bottom and mid lag, doing nothing new for the top, however, you do reach that top a bit quicker and more steadily, with much of the built in for beginner lag deleted. If it wasn't for that cam my Force pipe would really suck on the bottom end, as it is, its not bad at all.

Cool, thanks. I think this will be my winter project.

The B50's have a nice broad powerband.
The horsepower actually peaks at 6400/6500 rpm, the stock redline. Which, if your rev limiter is accurate, you're bouncing off the rev limiter at max power and that means your losing it. The power is actually fairly consistent to 7500 rpm, it only drops off a couple horsepower from the peak and your getting the same HP at 4700 rpm as at 7500 rpm (torque starts to fall after 5500rpm though).
So if you dont increase your rev limit, you're cheating yourself out of some power and added powerband.
All that takes is some valve springs and an ignition module.
I'm just adding fuel to the fire: )

The ignition module used to be a "bolts right on" affair. But since they no longer make the Screamin Eagle module for the Blast, its a little more complicated. My opinion is that its worth it and makes the Blast much more rideable and you bounce off the rev limiter a whole lot less.

Do you think it's worth it to just install the cams without the module, springs? losing a little power doesn't bother me as long as I'm gaining more to begin with. Also will the cams increase or decrease engine life?

Naw - these cams should have come stock with the bike, they actually fit the engine profile better, I guess they just cost more, so where not added to meet price point. Remember - your top end is still 96 (101 if your a 2000), but you'll get there more rapidly. For a stock Blast motor it is a great cam!

Definitely worth it. As with almost any mod, there is something you can do to make it better or take it a little further. I think EZ and I have the market cornered on the idea!!!
Almost anything that creates more power will decrease engine life. More power=more wear.

I forgot the disclaimer for the above. Results may vary!

The install isnt that hard. You will need to pull the rocker cover and you'll also need to update the oil pump drive gear while you're there ($50).
Theoretically, you could get the cams in without pulling the rocker cover, but its a hassle.
