H1 H2 they handle like crap no brakes a handful but fun to ride.
My first Avon tires where on this they helped the handling a little on the old Kawi too!!
But you can't beat the Blast in the twisties!!

Man I loved those triples...who cared how they handled in the turns...they were made for the straightaway...1320 ft...make sure the steering damper is twisted up tight...who's got the stones to twist the throttle?? Fouled plugs and horrible gas mileage..BelRay and Klotz green...make your eyes tear...watch the exhaust pulse at idle knock somebodys hat off from 15 feet away...the only nastier stock bike I ever rode was a Gamma. But thats another tale for the campfire.

Yeah, I'm only eighteen but fell in love with the triple from my father's stories. He owned a KH400 back when he was my age. I think he said he and his friends all bought new KH400s back in '77, leftover '76 models. Listening to him talk about how fun they are made me want to try one, so we went halves on the H1. He rode it home and I followed in his truck - as he disappears down the road in a cloud of smoke. Just like a high schooler again. I was actually scared to ride the damn thing at first, the way it delivers the power is just phenomenal. Loud, obnoxious, uncomfortable, horrible gas mileage and temperamental, but so incredibly fun that you forget about all the flaws. I have to sell my Blast but I think I will stay around here just to talk to you guys about bikes - it's a nice community here!

Oh, and Laconia bike week starts June 13th next year - and I'll be right in the thick of it on the H1. Hope to see some of you there!

Yes, the Kaw triples. Not known (or especially not known) for their handling earned them the title of "The Widowmaker". But neck snapping full on power surges are addictive. Thats why we constantly build and want more.
One of the few Jap bikes you'll ever hear me discuss or show any respect for.

Okay Erik, do tell what the other few Jap bikes are. Or you can e-mail them to me if you don't want to stir up any trouble on here lol. I do miss the sound and the excitement of the two strokes in Grand Prix Racing though.

I'll pitch in on this...how about the Honda 6 cylinder GP bikes of the mid 60's ridden by Mike Hailwood and Jim Redmond..250 and 350 cc...or the mighty Yamaha TZ750 made most famous by Kenny Roberts....awesome equipment...but we can't forget the winningest bike ever in short track...yes its a Harley..the XR750..and today the "It's not REALLY a Harley engine" Pro Stock Screaming Eagle bikes...and oh yeah the Gamma...500 cc square four disc valve two stroke...production bikes made on the order of 130hp...the Team Suzuki works bikes made in the neighborhood of 150..the street legal version (sold only in Europe and Canada) was detuned to "only" 110hp..and finally...the king of air cooled four stroke bikes...the KZ Kawi..from the '73 Z1 to the killer gorilla the '84 GPZ1100...and to round it all out the toughest bike ever built..it could hold up to a pack of 10 year olds and still survive to teach their children to ride...the ever awesome Honda Z-50 (I have an '83 model that cranks first kick that has never had any engine work beyond normal maintenance and it is now being ridden by a third generation)...

Good Pic EZ...that would be an RW750. Hmmm a British made square four disc valve two stroke...outrageous!!!! Rumor is they were practically unrideable...they supposedly had enough power to run circles around a TZ750, but would blow up on the 5th lap...twisted just a bit too tight for the technology...or was it the British engineering that was the problem?...either way I would say "take the muzzel off, I wanna ride that *itch"

Yuppers - Erik B. bought the patents to that motor redesigned it so it wouldn't grenade, had to actually de-tune it for power to make it ride-able, and then started winning races with it, and sold a couple - problem was they ended two-stroke racing in favor of starting off the 4 stroke racing groups. So here's Erik with a killer racing motor and chassis, and no place to sell or win with it, being the resourceful chap that he was - Buell Motorcycles that we know today was born.

New Years Day was spent with the Big Kid and his boss and co-workers at the indoor motocross track.

We have to ride Indoors this time of year because the ground is too cold and hard to ride on Outdoors.

wow

Its just an observation of the climatic conditions in the frozen tundra called Michigan.

It sucks that it is so cold that you have to ride your motorcycles indoors.....

"Okay Erik, do tell what the other few Jap bikes are"
The only other Jap bikes that come to mind are the 6 cylinder small displacement bikes (that Fast mentioned-esp the 50cc), that I think were almost exclusively race only.
The bitter truth: Normally when I say nice things about someones Jap bike, I'm being kind (like when you meet someones spouse and you say "they have nice eyes or a beautiful smile or a great personality" and you're thinking O M G). Phrase I find hilarious "It looks just like a Harley"... and a transvestite looks just like a real woman (no, not all)! The Japanese have had great success copying and its now the Chinese' turn.
I would rather "push a Harley than ride a Honda".
Thats the bitter, abbreviated truth. A kinder, gentler, me : )(though I still have a really hard time biting my tongue when I hear someone traded in their Blast for a Suzuki Intruder or the like).
I dont bring it up much and I really dont want this to turn into an "I love my Jap bike" thread.
There are plenty of other forums for that.

Just so nobody thinks i've gone squinty eyed...I have a Blast because it is the ONLY bike on the market that suits my needs at the moment...(A) Thumper (B) American Made (C) no valve adjustments (C) "standard" bike (D) low seat height (very important since I only have a 28" inseam and I will not street ride a bike I can't flatfoot on both sides at a stop...all my previous street bikes were lowered but it didn't matter because I was oriented on straight line performance.) (E) low cost of ownership (excluding the mods I compulsively do.) my buddy just took his ZX10 in for a tuneup and valve adjustment...the valve adjustment (shim under bucket) cost 350 bux!! I love my hydraulic lifters!!! (F) Dealer support..I am lucky to have a totally excellent Buell dealer...their parts pricing is downright reasonable. (G) Appearance...I just love the looks of my lil ole thumper...the day I bought it, I had already decided without ever seeing one in person that it was the only bike that met all my other criteria..the INSTANT I saw it in person, I took out my checkbook...but honestly if KTM built a thumper that didn't have a seat height as tall as my armpits, I would be all over that Rotax powered beast.

I plan on moving up one day...maybe one of those LCG XB's or something...

But to cap off what I think are the most ultimate killer bikes I have ever seen in person (I have never been to Bonneville) are from Europe..one is a supercharged top fuel Harley built by a German fellow named Ruel Koedam (sp)...and the other is a hand built supercharged 440cc thumper nitro bike that was built by a tool and die maker from the Netherlands (I forget the fellow's name.) There are many other examples of truly kick butt bikes, but I have seen these and smelled the nitro. The guy from the Netherlands went quicker in the 1/4 mile that any single cylinder bike in history..high 7's at around 150mph!!!

Buell stuff always makes it to the sale rack. I'm just hoping to find a "Buell Race Bag" there: )
Also, for those that havent been to a Buell/HD dealer in awhile, actual Buell racks are starting to pop up complete with Buell dealer t-shirts.(Just one rack, but its a good start)

My dealership has a great Buell section. Full line of hats, shirts, jackets, hoodies. All kinds of goodies. But never on sale : (

Hey Fast1, which dealership did you get that deal at? I have been looking for one of those jackets. I was hoping they might have one on-line.
