Is the blast clutch a sportster as well, or something all on its own?If its a one off is there a aftermarket available?One more, anyone put a hydraulic unit on one(would help my wife alot)if so what brand.Thanks leblanc.acp@juno.com | |||

I honestly don't know how similar the Blast clutch is to a sportster. what problem is your wife having? Clutch too difficult to pull? nopt releasing properly? You may be able to adjust the clutch, lubricate the cable, etc to fix the problem as opposed to replacing a clutch. | |||

I've heard fo a clutch device that fits on the end of the clutch cable in the primary case, that supposedly reduces clutch pull by 50%, designed for sportsters...it might work, but i can't remember the name or who sold it...any help guys? looked like an extender for the clutch release ramps..dunno | |||

I've heard of that - an accesory for sportsters, fit on the tubers, I don't know yet if it transfers over to the XB/Blast platform. GT - JBOTDS! EZ | |||

I would check the clutch cable where it passes the steering head. I found mine to have been pinched between the fork tube and frame crushing the cable sheath. | |||

The very first prototype P3 were using a Sportster Clutch (internal), it proved too strong(overkill). So I'm guessing parts are similar??? Btw- My friend Randy Texter(Lancaster H-D/Buell) has two Flattrack Blast racers and they both use a Hydraulic clutch setup.... although it required lots of fab work... but's it's SWEET ! P.S.- a photo of one of said Blast Racers is used for my profile photo- check it out.... | |||

Thanks for the info ,I will be trying on of the adjustable units.I still would like to know if the clutch is used on anything else.It would be nice to avoid the local H/D dealer. | |||

I have an EasyPull device on my Superglide...easy to install, dropped the lever pull a claimed 40%, so adding a screaming eagle heavy clutch spring, the pull is still lighter than stock...much goodness. Not related to the above thread, but it's about the clutch, so here goes: After storing my Blast! for the winter, when I put the bike in 1st gear and keep the clutch handle in, the wheels don't roll. Someone suggested the clutch oil has pooled, but I thought I'd ask other Blast-ers if this happens to them. Thanks. | |||

Thats normal! Harleys are notorious for clutch drag especially if the bike has sat and not been started.You should find it will improve greatly after the bike is started and you've used the clutch a little. It will still probably drag. It is however possible that something has seized up or broken since storage, but that is unlikely. | |||

Well, the clutch works. I think the problem was a poorly written Owner's Manual. I quote from page 86: "Remove From Storage: ! WARNING After extended periods of storage and prior to starting vehicle, place transmission in gear, disengage clutch and push vehicle back and forth a few times to ensure proper clutch disengagement." I started the bike in neutral, shifted to first, held in the clutch and voila: the wheels roll. I turned it off and no more rolling, even with the clutch in. Since this is the first time I've taken in out of storage, and quite possibly the first time I've ever tried to move it in first gear with the engine off, I really had nothing to go by. | |||

It is a sportster based design, so you should be able to use the sportster EzPull clutch device (the one that fits on the ramp arm) I've got one on my FXD, its goodstuff | |||

when replacing the clutch cable, does oil come out when you take the cover off to replace it? The major part looks like taking off the foot peg arm! | |||

cool i found it...so i should just change the oil too while im at it.. thanks EZ....ok stupid question.... with only 3800 miles on the bike should i need to tighten the clutch mechanism behind the clutch cover, the cable just broke.. can i replace the cable without messing with it(on the inside) | |||

No - it will need to be completely adjusted, you'll have to loosen the primary to do so then re-adjust the primary as well. GT - JBOTDS! EZ | |||

lol.....ok looked at the bc rider site and the manual...very confused, they are(bcrider) talking about the adjuster screw in the middle of the outer ramp to adjust(behind the primary cover) ..not the primary chain limiting screw(the one that had the spacer on it) which one do i adjust? Thats for fine tune adjusting - to fully adjust from new, first loosen the primary adjuster, then adjust clutch from ramp, then fine tune on the outside adjuster - then re-adjust primary. GT - JBOTDS! EZ | |||

Hey Guys ,... are the clutch baskets and insides clutch plates, etc. all the same as the XB series? Also might as well ask here as well... What about the outer primary, Except that the shifter Boss wd. have to be drilled out and Tap? Everything else the same with them? | |||

We have Buellistic running an XB primary cover on his Blast so I would think a Blast would fit the XB. I don't have part numbers or the link but I think the clutch parts are the same. | |||

Swampy: That is going backwards unless you want the BLAST look on your XB ??? AND you will have to run the XB shoe set-up ... Put the XB primary cover on my BLAST as a PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT "ADVANCEMENT" !!! | |||
