I was able to figure out how to more than double my horsepower on my Blast engine. The picture should explain the process thoroughly.

Looks like someone "fell out of love". How sad, you wont even list her in your profile any more.

Congrats on the new bike. Nice colour!

Well, I didn't fall out of love with my Blast really, just needed a different tool. I don't have to sell the Blast right now and will probably still ride it some. But after trying to keep up with XBs recently in the mountains the horsepower handicap became too much to deal with.

Here's my "so long" to the Blast:

ps: Yeah, I really dig the yellow.

In the tight mountain roads you should be dusting them on the Blast - you now have the slower cornering tool to go with your more nimble Blast - lol

Thats kinda sad ... I have felt the lingering "need" for more power myself lately so I know where your're coming from. It seems that lately I've found myself tucking in tighter and holding the throttle longer while passing cages on the freeway... Does the 515 or 600cc kit make THAT kind of difference in acceleration? Should I offset the jug to make room for more than 800cc of thumping awesomeness? SOMEONE PLEASE SAY YES!!!!

I'm pretty sure EZ and I dont have that problem passing cars : )
The 600 kit (besides the complete engine disassembly) is the easy way too more power.

He, He, He... Don't rub it in!!! LOL! All good things (like 600+cc Singles) come with time. And $$$, lots and lots of $$$. I can't wait!

I took the new yellow jacket for a good ride today and can say the two bikes(Blast vs XB) shouldn't be compared. The XB9 is much quicker to accelerate and the engine braking is more. It is a whole new ride for me. The overall balance of the bike is different. I can get myself in real trouble much faster with the XB. Ergonomics are considerably different and I still prefer the stock Blast configuration of pegs, shifter, brake, etc. After getting back I immediately removed the bar-end mirrors and put the lollipops from the Blast on the yellow jacket.

The rider of this bike will need as much or more adjustment than the XB. I'm happy with it so far. It isn't as forgiving, especially in low speed maneuvers, as the Blast. It is a different tool. The Blast can be greatly improved with 10 to 15 more horsepower for big riders who weigh 200 and up. But it isn't meant to do the same thing the XB9 or XB12 is meant to do. Time will tell if I get rid of the Blast, but I have nothing but good things to say about it.

"I can get myself in
real trouble much faster with the XB."

Not questioning your decision, but thats why some of us repeatedly tell newbies to wait until you get some miles under your belt before 'moving up', not just the 1000 miles that seems commonplace.
The Blast is very forgiving and in capable hands will leave much faster bikes behind. Its all in learning how to use a bike to its maximum.
I'd love to have an XB9S in the garage. I've got the room too. I'm sure a fifth motorcycle would fit right in the spot where my wife parks her car (as both would be soon gone).
Its a nice bike.
