Those that say a P3 is way underpowered never rode an old school thumper....and in the rare case where the old ones were appearantly more powerful...the rest of the old bikes stunk by comparison.

We have killer brakes, very good controls, etc...and electric start...try cranking a cranky, hot 441 Victor when it is having a bad day....for that matter, crank one that is having a good day...and try to actually use the "headlight" to see where you are going at night...

P3...perfect....nope....just right for the price...

Awf_Hand! Check the timing! Check your TPS, too, but I think that wouldn't be the problem at low throttle, since knock wouldn't happen from not advancing timing.

Per EZ's suggestion, I did some research on Lucas products, found some locally, and put in a measured .9 oz into my remaining 1.5 gallons.

Aside: I'm kind of a math geek (like to "math-turbate") and enjoy solving problems like these.

In another related development, I found an alternative to an expensive and limited-use torque wrench for tightening the primary chain. I'd rented one that was graduated in inch lbs. After I'd done my adjustment, I made a little adapter piece and, using a trigger pull scale* and a 10 inch long Craftsman wrench found that a 2lb 4oz pull from the box end of the wrench would be darned close to the 24 inch pounds specified. I tested it multiple times with the torque wrench mounted in a bench vise.
I also tried this with my Zebco "de-liar" fishing scale and found the results "close enough" for gubmint work, although the scale was a bit tougher to read at the 2-1/4lbs. I will consider this an alternative to renting a torque wrench and using the crow-foot 3/8" drive adapted through the 1/4 to 3/8 drive socket...

*I am a pistol instructor and match director and, as such, have tools like this for my use.

Looking forward to more riding!!!

For all those with projects - Devil Mountain HD/Buell in Pittsburg, CA has a salvage title Blast that runs - last time they tried it 2 months ago - 800 bucks FOR A 2003 - has a HD head light on it, custom exhaust using the stock header as a starter, rest of the body work looks ok - no visible bad scratches - no airbox, carb will need cleaning, and a new boot. Swampy - if you still need an engine - perhaps we could work something out - pm me and I'll send you my new phone number and perhaps we could work something out.

They point, retrieve, flush, catch and could track. They'll also herd (a sight to see). All without that pesky barking noise! The African natives put a 'bell' (gourd) around their neck to find them.
In all reality they are very much like cats. You have no way of knowing if your Basenji is deaf or just ignoring you. Very difficult to train-not for everyone.

Everything we own has teeth marks too! If they cant hunt down live game, the couch will do fine as a substitute. The couch must die!

As a follow-up to my posts on the "clattering" that I'd heard at light gain throttle, I added the Lucas Octane boost and found that the noise went away about 80%. I'm going to blame the fuel in my area.
I'd been buying 92 octane pump gas, sold as "premium", but have now found a 93 octane seller in my area who I'll patronize more.

On a side note, I took the P3 out the night before last and ground my pegs (and the outside edge of my shoes!) on some curvies near my house. What a hoot!

Try backing your timing off a degree or two.

I used to scrape pegs sometimes, then I started beveling my boots. When I did the sport bike course last week, I squished my foot between the Blast and the road about 3 or 4 times. That's pushing the lean!

Anybody know who has the black Blast with red wheels, relocated license plate, from Pennsylvania who's at Dover AFB? It's the first other Blast I've seen up close and personal that wasn't at the dealership.

Well Dreadhead, That bike could be a decent project for a handy person, or a real nightmare. It sounds like a non-motorcycle person had this thing and did just about everything they could to beat it apart and cobble it together, while giving it 1(?) oil change in a five year period.. -Probably not Amsoil at that change either.
KBB lists trade-in value at around $1700 in "good" condition, but no dealer that I know would want that thing on their floor without a LOT of work.
I'd maybe bid it up to $1500 tops, but more likely feel out the market and, if it was active, stop at $1200.

The corbin seat might add something if it is in good condition and "fits" the rider well.

The billet dash tells me he's been yanking/hacking on wiring and is proven by the condition of the speedo. I hope he didn't smoke anything else...

I find a used bike with an aftermarket exhaust on it and my offering price goes DOWN, not up. I've not seen an aftermarket exhaust add anything to a streetbike other than noise that too many guys run the engine that much harder just to hear. YMMV

Concur, mostly! Along those same lines, the more stock (untouched) the better, unless you really know what you are getting. The Corbin seat (which looks damaged on this one) and any luggage are the only things that add value IMHO. The rest is only as good as the mechanic that installed it!
It is low mileage though.
Concur on the $1500!
