I'm desperate to buy a Blast clutch cable. I wouldn't be so desperate except that the f*@#s at HD decided to jack up the price for the clutch cable that's used on the Blast. SOAB... I can't find a dealership that carries the original cable #38616-00YA. All I hear is, "that parts obsolete. The new part is $36." I really hate it when motorcycle manufacturers do this and won't sell you the older part that works just fine. Someone's gotta have it. Anyone out there got a cable for sale? The 38616-00YA original sold for $21 just a few months ago. Anyone know if any other bike model clutch cables are compatible? The S1, X1, and M2 cables look identical, but they may have a different thread size. I can't tell from just a picture and the seller doesn't know...

They cant sell you a clutch cable they dont have and its very unlikely they'd just throw all the old ones out. The dealers I use will sell you the obsolete part # if they have it, at the old price.

I bought one from I think Motion Pro. They had a difficult time finding it and it probably does fit another Buell (dont know which one). The part # is long gone, but I still have the cable.
You might also try Barnett (as in Barnett clutches).

I've been watchin' the one on ebay for 4 days now, but people are fighting over it like a pack of wolves. It's already selling for a higher price than what it costs at the dealership. It's sad when there's so much competition for scarce parts that people are willing to pay more on ebay than what it actually costs from the dealer..

I also checked out Barnett earlier, but their website is useless. No price listings. My guess is when I call them tomorrow they're gonna say, "$60" and I'm gonna say "WTF?!" I always dislike shopping for motorcycle parts because it's such a game.. Especially on ebay. It's like stickin' your hand in front of a Huskie's food dish. I had to pay $8 for some lame copper screws that the yamaha dealership only carried. My God. I was furious. But never the less, that's a price we pay to enjoy these two wheel beauties. Thanks for the responses though. Feel free to keep 'em cummin' because I'm willing to bet that cable on ebay is gonna double in price as soon as the last minute comes by... I'll watch anyway though.

Check out Motion Pro's website. Says the cable is the same for an M2, S3 and Blast (maybe others). You wont like their prices either, but you may be able to find it cheaper at discount online bike suppliers.

Yeah, I was going to mention that you ought to call or email a few of our sponsers, because usually they have quite a few of the needed parts in stock. and if they have them in stock they might have the older number.

I'm waiting to see what Andy says. As anticipated Motion Pro and Barnett are a joke. I can't understand why someone would go to the effort of making an OEM part of same quality as the original and then charge more for it. How do they expect to ever make a sale? "Made with the finest components available, making them virtually indestructible." Sure... I'm also surprised there aren't any generic-universal cables out there sitting in any motorcycle shops like CycleGear. All clutch cable serve the same purpose, and it's pretty basic. Easy to duplicate for cheap. Must be the whole lack of demand thing.

Drag Specialties makes a sweet braided steel one w/ clear cover. IIRC, I saw them on closeout somewhere - maybe Dennis Kirk? List price was about $55, but on sale for about $35.

Will try to find the part no.

DOUBLE CHECK anything on this list as it is old and experience has proven that some information may be wrong (though it might have been correct at the time of the original post).

Someone can delete this request listing since I broke down and went to the dealership some months ago and forgot this was still up.

It seems that most of the information here is out of date now, but it is one of the first hits for a google search on the clutch cable for Buell Blast so here are a couple Biker's Choice versions that I have found after several hours of searching through the numbers above for a replacement on the Original Buell #38616-00YA Clutch Cable:

Biker's Choice stainless 66-0332,
Biker's Choice vinyl 06-0332

ALWAYS check fit before throwing away the packaging and receipt. Cross referencing by anyone (retailers, individuals, wholesalers, etc.) doesnt always work and this has been especially true for the Blast.

All,

I did find that Barnett lists a clutch cable for the Blast.
