No, I don't get a surge when I let off, but my plug looks fine. I used the same exact jets on the stock carb and it never did this before I put on the acc. pump equipped carb. I have a K&N filter (stock airbox) and the V&H pipe. I though I had the jets right, but I guess I could do some messing around still. Thanks!

How do you work around the TPI sensor when you take out the stock carb? I have the stock module and it runs on the first curve only. How does the Screamin Eagle module sense TPI?

Argh, the dealer swiped the instructions for the Screaming Eagle ignition module when they installed it. Can anyone tell my what the "Mode" and "Curve" settings are? Right now the mode is 2 and the curve is 5.

Man, I really need to find a better way to say "Return All Parts" ....

Ltlboybuell that is the right setting to start at per the instructions.(mode) 0 is for sportsters, 1 not listed, 2 is for the Blast, 3 is not listed. I'll try to find my instructions before I leave for work tonight and post the rest.

Anybody know when the Buell Pro Series intake will be coming out? I am interested in putting the entire kit on my Blast then having it dyno tuned afterwards, but no one seems to know when the new intake will be released, and I don't particularly want to get a Force to mod on there like some others have done.

This has been bugging the crap outta me but I can't find a torque spec for the Blast's intake manifold bolts. I have an '01 manual.

Am I still just missing it after all this time?

Saro,

The torque value is not in my 2002 Manual.
Just use the German torque value, gutentight!

}Hi Blasters!! I have a K&N Air Filter waiting for me at the shop, because kewl dude Ed wants to make an adaptor so I can mount it right onto the carb. It has been 3 wks now, I have ripped off the big airbox and remounted it so I could ride. Does anyone have any suggestions on mounting the K&N?? (like the one featured in IronWorks) The K&N I have is the 4" diameter. Thank you in advance for ANY help/suggestions.

(try the Archive above thru april 22,03 you'll see a lot of different ideas! - moderator)

Ok, so I've looked at the archives, but still can't figure, "Is there an aftermarket air intake for the Blast that allows us to get rid of the stock system and have an intake that doesn't interfere with riding position?"
I tried the Dragtron from my M2 on today, but I'd have to modify the tank cover and still have a knee on the air filter. I love the look without the stock plastic though.

Every person that has done an intake different from stock has had to customize it, especially the supports (best recommendation is two and springs - one on each side from head to carb) - yeah the look is much cleaner! The knee thing and weight ideas, and maximum breathing convinced me to go to a stack and stack filter(I bag it - ziplock - if parked for any length of time). Supposedly the factory is coming out with one - any day now - I'm waiting;0) - Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ

This is for Cali sea level - go to 45 pilot - if above 4000 ft go 44 pilot instead (yup they make them) - for base line try the stock jetting of 170 for the main - I had to drop down to 165 for the best results (and then protected myself by going to a Dial A jet) according to some dyno's, If there is a dyno in your area I'd get at least a pull done at the stock setting and see if you need to go 1 or 2 down or up from there - the AF indicators will tell you - no higher than the 14 area (getting too lean) and no lower than the 12 area(getting too rich). Why the lower jetting - I asked about this and was told simply that this piston was designed specifically for the Blast head and so with all things being equall the efficiency of your engine is greatly improved thus less need for fuel - lol - I had to drop my jetting 10 - Welcome to the Dark side - lol - Got Thump?! Sorry guys - the new pro intake just hangs from the carb - I posted the instructions at the group (size is too large and I still haven't figured out how to shrink stuff - even though I have zip, etc. - lol). So this weekend I'll post a few updated pic's of my intake mounting - tested with over 500 miles good so far. Its slightly modified from the last pics to ensure longevity. will include some brief instructions as well. (God I hate being the ugly step child - ohh well - lol) Got Thump?! Well, getting into Mod Mode with the wife's 2000 Blast, I figured I'd start with jetting. After reading through some of the archives, it seems the 45/175 combo is the place to start? Even on a bone stocker, for now?
My long term plans are White Bro Exhaust, K&N,and ignition advance, with whatever jets get thrown on now. The LONGER term plans are the 600cc, but keeping everything else (that is top end) pretty tame.
Will the jetting be decent throughout this process?
Did I read correctly that these jets can be purchased from any local HD dealer?
In the broader sense, is my mod plan realistic?
Having never messed with jets before, are they pretty straightforward to replace? (remember, this is my WIFE's bike!\clipart {coy} ).

Still trying to get the etiquette of the board, sorry if this is posted in the wrong place.

stock - 42/170, when you go to the WB pipe go up to 45/175, when you go to the 600cc you may actually have to jet down or not at all. Yes you can get the jets at any dealer, if you feel yourself up to it - jetting is not that hard - just takes research to make sure your doing it right. Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ

Stock jets for a 2000 Blast are 42/165. For right now I would change the jets to 45/170 and thats it. Once you get the White Bro exhaust adjust your air/fuel mixture screw 2 1/2 turns out from bottom. If you do go with a 175 jet you will notice a lack in performance.

Thanks guys!
I'm definitely gonna jet this myself. Would rather learn on this than my Bandit, but still want to do it correctly. I know with the bandit there is some drilling required to get to the AF screws, same thing here? My guess is yes.
Any good research on this board, by chance? I'll be hunting/reading regardless, but some direction is ALWAYS appreciated. :)

Great board by the way.

Thats not nescessarilly true - I was jetted 45/175 on my dyno run posted on the board and I was just a bit lean then! If you do the airbox mod or go to a different intake and do the exhaust then 45/175 would be fine - I'm sure the extra air from the intake mod for the airbox plus a K&N filter has something to do with it being ok vs. too rich with a regular stock air box. for directions see some of the first posts in this grouping, and check other sites as well. The plan right now is to do the jetting this weekend, airbox mod as soon as the K&N comes in, and then the pipe next month or so. If it runs a bit rich for a couple weeks, no biggy. Unfortunately, it's not being ridden much right now. The wife is still "scared" of it. :(

Tony,

Are you still in Japan? Most dealers should be getting the part numbers sometime soon. So we are all just sitting back and waiting.

, I also have the instructions I had sent from Buell CS - I sent them to Blake (if anyone else wants them I'll send - I wish someone would shrink them and post them here - hint hint;0))to help post here - too large and I can't figure a way to shrink them - lol - anyway - you'll still have to do custom bracketry - but we're both familiar with that;0) - Got Thump?! Yes I'm still in Japan...2 1/2 more years of no Buell though I am picking up little things (and in the case of my headlight assembly) not so little things for my buell... I'm not so much interested in buying the Pro Series intake I just want to know what it looks like installed...I spent way too much time fabricating my own intake to buy, what appears to be, a larger, uglier version of it

Not to say we (the wife and I) aren't still on two wheels...we bought 2 Yamaha Vino's and now I'm learning the fine art of 2 stroke tuning (BTW the scooters are vey fun)...the wife wants bigbore 70cc kits and upgraded ezhaust by/for Xmas...research is fun
