grrrrrr this blast is getting on my nerves. I have a love/hate relationship with the little blastard right now my gripes are, it slow, it refuses to wheelie no matter how hard I dump the clutch lean back or pull on the bars and that stupid clutch switch wire connector is giving me problems again

Thanks Ed!

I actually sent you an email. I'm trying to figure out if I should pick up this Blast, it's cheap but I want to get as much power out of it as possible for the street. I'm not to mechanically inclined, and there is just a ton of choices between Revolution, NHRS, etc. Luckily a mutual friend is an ex-Harley mechanic, he tells me he can port the heads etc and it would be a lot cheaper, but my head is spinning from the options at this point.

Yes - you said you wanted a max street Blast - therefore have him do the head upgrades, redshift 580 cam, hi-comp piston and enjoy!

Dont forget an ignition with a higher rev limit. Even without 'extreme' street cams, that extra 1000 rpm makes a heckova difference!

You're fine. Only 2000 yr Blasts and there are few of those left that havent had it done.

Not sure where to post, sorry.

I got into an accident last month, and needless to say quite a few things were broken. I've been able to fix some of the stuff myself, but am now a bit stuck. I replaced my turn signals, and I'm pretty sure I installed them correctly, but none of them work. Also having problems w/the headlight. The high-beam works, but low doesn't. Any insight into my problems here???

Also curious about any further info regarding the recall about the sprocket on 2000 blasts...

Count the number of teeth on your rear sprocket. 80 teeth-recalls been done. 73 teeth-get it done.

Headlight and turn signal flasher could be bad. Sometimes its a coincidence that they go bad at the time of an accident, when your putting your bike back together.
Start with the headlight diagnosis.Buy a test light and test to see if the low and high beam wires are getting power or plug in a known good headlight (any standard 3 prong low/high beam headlight will work).
Same with the signals. Plug in a known working flasher or get a test light to trace where the power stops.
Look for broken wires.
Since we dont know the extent of damage its tough to say where your problem might be but most Blast accidents dont damage the wiring (unless the bike is mangled but then you wouldnt be asking).

Use Gearheaderiko’s advice, get a test light, and a service manual if you don’t have one.
I became a little familiar with these wires while working on my Tach project. Please know that mine is a 05 and these wire colors are from the service manual. All forward light power comes into the left hand controls via the blue wire from the light fuse. Then back out from the controls to the high beams via the White, and low via the Yellow. Turn Signals are powered from the flasher via the Violet/Brown each bulb from the Violet (left) and brown (right). If your left hand control is broken, start there. Check that your flasher is not loose or sustained damage in your wreck.

All lights have a common ground. I am not sure where it is, but, follow the black wire from your headlamp.

I dunno - they just came out with a new Ninja 250 - slick looking bike, supposed to do everything better - should be interesting - to keep selling the Blast Buell would definitely want to up date it - redesign the intake connector - das boot!, stream line the intake box making it more free-flowing,switch out to the better oil pump, replace the primary with XB 9 or 12 - consolidating parts - more with with XB head and piston, and cam, the carb would be jetted leaner still - meeting epa demands for probably another 5 to 10 years, I can only hope - as reflected in the new 1125R - that Buell - knowing that the majority of us will have to stick to stock exhausts due to the law - will design a more free flowing stock - that could probably use a jetting change to get even more power;0) when in the hands of its happy owners - 17" wheels and an 'Unbreakable belts would be nice - all more part consolidating, even an XB style frame,swing-arm - style - well I think Erik can handle that and folks just don't mind changing stuff on their bike to suit themselves, however, with epa laws of today no obvious external engine mods will be allowed - so folks will be trickier with engine kits and cams, etc. -
