But I would suggest waiting till fall, give him time to get most of the work done. If you get captured, it won't be so hot. In the evenings, you can sit on the porch and have sweet tea and ripe persimmons.

Okay, so today I took a 2 hour ride around this beautiful county I live in and my foot clutch lever fell off. It didn't really scare me when my foot couldnt find it but boy searching for it was lame. It must have fallen off about 300 feet back by the time I stopped. I had no tools so I just beat it back on with a rock and went home.

Moral of the story: all of you check how tight that thing is.

Nah, but I am interested in setting my bike up to shift up when I press down on the lever, much like a dirt track bike.

Alright finally finished painting my wifes Buell Blast fender pieces. I will post some pics of the bike when I get everything put on later in a few days. But if anybody wants to see a amateur Work In Progress thread of someone painting a buell blast from start to finish then check it out.

Hey, all,
Yesterday I went to Surdyke Harley Davidson and took out a CityX for a test ride to get one of the messenger bags they are giving away with a test ride. Let me tell you, that XB9SX is a FUN RIDE! It's quite deceptive in it's acceleration and speed as I really ended up going alot faster than I thought. Right off the bat I accelerated well past the 65mph speed limit on Highway 67 that goes in front of the dealer. In fact, I accelerated to 80 but it felt like about 60 on the Blast. After exiting onto hwy 110, I rolled on the throttle quickly enough to let a little air under the front tire (didn't expect that to happen!) then hopped onto State road CC. SR-CC is a road with alot of sweepers but they are not sharp just fast. I held between 60 and 80 on CC pretty much the whole time (I did shoot up to 100 once and 90 another time). All in all a great day! If you want to see the route, here's a link I made to show the Surdyke's test ride route.

Question for everyone. Do the Blasts tend to get a little jittery or loose at high speed 70+ mph or is it just me and my newness to riding?

I was out riding the other day and it was a little windy so I was getting pounded as it was. But there were times when I was running 70-75 mph that the bike didn't seem as solid as it did at lower speeds.

She's a lite bike compared to a cruiser, so she will get buffeted by the wind, you just have practice leaning into the wind to keep thing on course. Happens on my Coastal rides all the time.

I went from the center stripe to the outer edge with a side blast once, for once the Big Kid wasn't riding right next to me.

I would check your tires pressures, wheel bearings, and then change your tires to the Big Avons.

ahh, so interstate on a blast is kinda like land sailing

Sorry, I came to ask a question of you blasted noble worthies, got distracted.
Our old nemesis GRAVITY has revisited the blast.
Beck was taking her normal dodge around the runaway truck ramp, up a small dirt bank, not realizing it was now mud. Whoops!!
Just a slow fall, but onto the slight bank on the left. She had to pull the shifter up from behind the peg,and push it back on, to get back to the house. It's good, I think, that I hadn't got around to checking the tightness of the foot thingy, as noted in the above post. It did bend the toe thingy, pretty bad, but much to my amazement, it straightened out without breaking. I slid the now very loose shifter back into position and tightened it, she went on her way, with only a slight(she realized later) bend in her handlebar. And one sore muddy leg, and a foul disposition.
Sorry, I'm to my question part now. She said all seemed okay, but, she could hear a clicking sound, the description of which was a little vague.
I rode it briefly ('s cold) tonight, but didn't hear it, unless it was the same thing I heard at warm up idle. I can hear a fairly low pitch knock, just barely a knock, it could be a deep peck, or maybe a really deep click. That's clear isn't it? (I knew I shouldn't have harassed EZ about "how much is a few") It's also possible, or maybe even likely, I was listening so hard I just HAD to hear something, and it's been there all along. I'll listen more on a warm day in the daylight so I can hear better.
My question, really:
Is there anything I need to check, inspect, adjust, cuss or pray over, after a fall like that. Or should I just wait until I'm sure i hear something, and start checking then? Did I read something, somewhere, about falling on the shifter , might have been the M2, or a dream.
I hate it when somebody says something like " gee Ed, if you'da just checked that thingy there, you coulda saved that transmission"

Or should we just send Beck around the 'ol 'simmon tree a few more times and all will be hunky dory?

If your bike is still a low mileage 2005, it should still be factory stiff. Smaller bikes dont do as well in the crosswinds, so its normal. Better tires will improve the feel as well as tightening up the suspension, but you'll still get blown about. A bigger fairing will also improve the feel of stability.

Rotzaruck: the Blast makes all kinds of little noises you dont notice until after a mishap. Usually its just paranoia. Depends on how hard you jammed the shifter. Swampy and EZ seem to be the recent experts on that (and potential damage).
You did check the bike over carefully?

I'd suggest the tree - the rest is probably fine - of course if any noise gets loud or obnoxious then I'd be wrong - check and see that all bolts at mounting points - esp. head ones - look good still and that isolator looks good as well.

Listen carefully on the primary side back in the area of the transmission, you may had knocked the shift pawl out of adjustment.

If you really do hear a "tick, click, Knock, or peck" see if it goes away while shifting the transmission through the different gears and with the bike stationary. That could indicate a shifter pawl adjustment.
However a slow layover, in the mud, with a loose shifter, I would highly doubt it.
Just to be sure, make her dance.

My exhaust broke on the way home today, the 6th time in the last 6 months. The only difference this time is the break is at the weld at the bottom of the pipe right before the bend into the muffler : (

Did they replace the rear mounting cage/sub-frame - if that is mis-aligned the muffler will break in that area.

It seems ok there, but the every time in the past it has broken, it was also broken there on the top around the mounting bracket, a huge hole, about 6 inches and it looked like it was rotten..... This time it just looks broken at the bottom weld of the pipe at the bend.

The OEM muffler on the Little Kids Blast has been rewelded numerous times. Its a beautifully shaped boat anchor.

The Little Kid is saving up to buy an aftermarket exhaust. I rode his bike into work today, 37 degrees, but going home its supposed to warm up to 60 or so. He is away on a school trip to Washington D.C. As always I had to fill it up on the way in.
Funny how I choose to ride the Blast over the Sportster...
