It doesn't shift into 3rd and shifting from 1st to 2nd is stiff. there goto to be something jammed up in the trans not make the shift shaft move easily. And also when i put the drained the primarry cover a punch of metal shavings came out.

Yes you'll get a lot of shavings - normal, I think the Pawl adjustment, and the clutch, primary would have worked for the rest - sigh - you know your talking splitting the cases, you'll need a whole gasket rebuild kit. Good luck!

yes sir i didn't want to do but my dad talked me into it. He has been doin it for a lot longer then i have. The shift shaft would not rotate past second. I been search my but off all day but can not find any post on anybody splitting the engine or full gasket kit and rings part numbers. Does all the buell engine come out the way the blast did with the swing arm still attached to it. thats just crazy on harley's part. Its like they built the bike for use one time and if it brakes throw it away.

Harley didn't do it that way.......Buell did!

Makes for a shorter package. The XBs are like that also, and a few of the tube framers.

Thats because on the whole the tranny is considered pretty bullet proof - and has been used in drag-racing for a long time with only clutch changes, surviving a whole season easily before rebuild in countless Sportsters.

okay, I found some, but what does the 16 mean? There are two 140/70's: one is 140/70-16 and the other is 140/70-12. Lol, also why are they classified as "scooter" tires?

Because they are rated as scooter tires in the US - lol - and 16 is the number you want - stands for 16" diameter rims - lol

Do your blasts cough and wanna die around 80 mph? I dunno if there is a rev limiter or not doin' this, but today I was riding home and had a nice straight to wind out on and she started sputtering and spasming. The engine had power and lost it... I slowed down of course and pumped the throttle and everything was fine. It seemed like it wasn't getting enough fuel. When I got home I check das' boot and it was good, looked at the spark plug which was fine also. And I had about a half tank of gas left. Pretty odd, huh?

Mike - I think it is a liquid gasket such as Permatex -

Your hitting the rev limmiter - primary too tight - should hit it around 95 - lol - unless you where in 4th - lol

Are you sure you weren't hitting the rev limiter in 4th, I've done that before, and when I finally figure it out a few minutes later I get to laughing about it. Its right around 80mph.

So Mike86type, what did you find wrong with your transmission?

I think that what is used between the case halves is an anerobic gasket eliminator, not silicone. That is a real close fit between those halves and I think the silicone would string out inside the case and possibly reak havock with the oil passages.

Yeah, I am pretty sure I wasn't in fourth. Thing is when I came off of it out of fear, I was going about 65 and it was still spasming. After about 8-9 seconds of that it started acting normally.

Oh, I have forgotten about 5th before too. A while back I was cruising around in what I thought was 5th at about 55mph then went, "waaait a sec" and shifted up. 4th and 5th are pretty close together so at 50-55mph it was hard for me to actually remember when I first bought it.
