Xgecko: Loosen the center bolt/nut on the ISOLATOR,front ... This will allow the engine to drop down just enough to where you can remove ROCKER COVER,top out the left side ... Put the 2 gaskets in the FREEZER for a couple of hours and reuse them(they will be in good shape if installed properly the first time) ... Get the engine on top dead center(streight mark on flywheel looking into the timing plug hole) with both valves closed ... Remove the SHAFT,rocker arm pin bolts on right side ... Push the SHAFT(s),rocker arm out the right side ... Remove ROCKER ARM,intake/exhaust ... Now you can remove the cam cover and the cam timing marks will be in the right place ... BE SURE TO REPLACE THE "DRIVE GEAR,oil pump" with a PN 26391-06 ... If you have QUESTIONS feel free to call me at home EST (813)661-2664 YES, the FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL has you do too much for a simle task OR says nothing on other simple tasks ??? Follow the manual and pay attention to the tips & shortcuts here. Its easy! My 'tips': Take a picture of the camshaft timing marks. It'll save guessing later. (timing marks rarely line up perfectly!) Pushrods are different lengths. Follow the manual for bolting on the timing cup. It will come loose! HD gaskets are fine. |

thanks, sadly the next thing I want to change will not be anywhere near as easy though it will be cheaper. But changing my piston will have to wait until next winter. |

Just a got a blast for my girlfriend and the threaded piece that slides in the shifter is broken off and was wonder what the part number is. And also the magnet came off the magneto(or thats what i think its called) and locked the engine up. i was wondering if anybody had a part number or a place i can find one at. It the thing under the left hand cover attached to the chain. |

Ahhh, so my 6 year old 2000 mile dry rotted tires finally gave out. I need to replace them. I looked around the forums briefly but thought it would be better to just ask since I am really just a yuppie. What tire options do I have? 'Cause the stock ones suck. alot. I would rather not have to modify my bike to fit the tires and price dosent matter. |

I'd advise using the stock sized Avon Vipers then - Pirelli would be my second choice! FT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Avon Vyper Strykes! Go with the larger size, the modification is just to drive in the lower shock mount tab that sticks into the wheel area of the swing arm. the ten minutes that it takes to do it is so worth it. But if you absolutly have to leave it stock use the standard sized Avon Vyper Strykes. |

It very hard to shift gears while im sitting still and almost imposable to fine N. I drop it down in 1st and when i start letting off the clutch it make a grinding of gear noise and then pauses and then start goin fine but i can't find 2nd. I think it throws me into second after it makes the grinding noise but the N light never comes on when this happens. |

Loosen lever, primary then get new primary Inspection gasket, check fluid level at bottom of teeth, redo clutch adjustment, seal up, do primary adjustment, then clutch cable adjustment. Shifter Pawl adj. would be the final adjustment you could do. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

yeah just took it apart and im goin to have to drop the engine/trans. i did all what u suggested yesterday when i replaced the rotor assembly, opened it up today again to see if everything looked like it was suppose to and everything checked out, but there was alot of metal shavings in the oil. I just bought the bike for 500 and really didn't know its history. |

Did you change out the detent plate and check the drum pin length - 0.335" - leach red locktite and gently tap back in to proper length, and use the right size drill bit for the Shift pawl adj. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Hey! Welcome to the board Mike86ttype! I would have started with a primary adjustment before pulling it apart. The Blast likes running a loose primary adjustment. But now tha you are in there, do the full works. Check for a bad clutch hub, and clutch hub bearing. Don't forget to chamfer the plate that holds the primary windings down under the front sprocket, then goo them up real good with silicone under the plate to keep them from vibrating. Rereading your post I see the splined collar was broken so I guess a shifter pawl adjustment is in order. |

"I would rather not have to modify my bike to fit the tires and price dosent matter." Get the bigger Viper Strykes. The guy installing them will make the adjustment to have them fit. (Two whacks with a hammer.) Just tell him it needs to be done. They have all done it before for other bikes. You won't regret the decision. |

Ok guys i had to take the engine out of the bike and it was a biatch. It sitting on a bench waiting to be taken apart. The bike has 15000 miles on. What do u think i will need besides the transmission parts to freshen it up and i don't want to spend a lot of money(no big bore kit) and who has all these parts. thanks |
