I'd like to see the high seat shaped so that my previous medical procedure wasn't rendered unnecessary by a quick stop, if you get my drift. Any seats out there that lift the rider's delicates away from the tank, maybe make the height a tiny bit taller? How about the Corbin? |

Also, exactly what is the history of 3%er with Buells? Can't find it on the search keys... |

I like that. I'm a 3%'er...Gonna ask my HD dealer to keep supporting Buell. It sounds like dealers jumped ship for awhile and half of those that stayed are clueless. My dealer has a great shop with dyno and bays specifically for racers and draggers. I think they're committed to the Brand, but it wouldn't hurt to beg. Thanks EZ. I'll contact Corbin. Had their seats on my Sporty and Wing. |

I stopped at a dealer in Muskegon, probably 2 hours away, they had a White Blast on the floor with a couple of Ulys, and a RE Blast and an XB9S in the back. I showed the salesman the Badweb and talked about what goes on here and about the sponsers, so hopefully they will get on board. The name of the place is Hot Rod Harley Davidson. Its still much easier for me to order parts from a sponser online, because I get the parts in three days and the shipping is offset by the discount. If I ordered locally, I would have to wait much longer for the parts to be ordered and then for the parts to arrive. (did anybody want to know any of this? I can stop now) |

Dentonbuell: Exhaust pipe head studs are damaged by IMPOPER INSTALLATION of exhaust system ... This is and was a problem on the TUBE FRAME BUELLs ... Soak STUD with PB(Fabulous BLASTER)Powerful Penetrating Catalyst which can be bought at WAL-MART ... Hit said STUD using a long flat tiped PUNCH with a HAMMER ... Might take a few good RAPS ... If this does not work one has to try something else as sometimes STUD removeal is not easy ... In BLASTing LaFayette |

Penetrating oil (as above). Vice grips (as already tried). Carefully heating the head around the stud to free it. I'm guessing you've already destroyed the stud with the vice grips, but if not you could file it down a little and get away with using the remaining threads. Or thread 2 nuts onto it, lock them together, then unscrew the stud (if the threads are still good). If I remember correctly some (all?) of the Blasts use a type of 'locking' stud where the threads that go inside of the head have a cut or groove at 90 degrees from the threads. This is what causes it to be so hard to remove. Use a standard stud to replace it if this is the case. Good luck, I've usually found vice grips to work well. |

well, after some PB soaking for about an hour the stud cam loose after some heat. then i went to thread down the other stud and it was stripped too! did the same routine with PB for a while then a LOT of heat, and nothing. vise grips wont grip aronud it well enough because of how close the head is. tried for literally about 3 hours, finally decided to use an easy out. problem no. 1: chuck of drill wont close tightly enough around extractor. prob no. 2:square head is slightly rounded off. used bigger easy out, only to have it break off in the stud (problem no. 3). got to go to work now, but i have a buddy coming over tomorrow to WELD some vise grips onto it. im desperate at this point! |

ok, fallen soldiers so far: one stud (most of it at least) 1 1/2" lugnut 1 1/2" regular nut 3 screw extractors 2 pairs vise grips one chisel several feet of welding wire 1 12 pack bud light decided to try the welded nut method tonight. welded it on, broke 1/4" off the stud, because the stud was weak from being drilled for the easy out. welded another nut on the stud. didnt have the clearance for a wrench. welded an all steel chisel on, took another 1/2" off the stud. welded the other end of the chisel on, broke the weld while trying to remove stud. this went from a problem to a pain in the butt to a royal pain in the a** to just being a stupid, assinine problem to be having. we are going to go at it again tomorrow, the girlfriend is getting pissed because ive been out there all night instead of inside with her! any suggestions, comments, or heckling is welcome! |

I went through the same thing trying to get an exhaust stud out, only I didn't have all that equipment, so I took it to a professional. One stud came right out. The other came out in 2 pieces before he had to drill it out. He wasn't being even slightly carefull, but a helicoil nicely fixed what he did. |

I found out that having my motorcycle registered in Delaware is a good thing. Yesterday, I talked to the insurance company about my bike. Everything is processed. They said that the $750 or so in damage totalled my bike. They figured it is worth $1310 after deducting $800 for high mileage. They added $180 after I reminded them of what I added, bring it to $1490. They offered to sell back my bike for $90, leaving me with $1400. Because of Delaware law, no paperwork has to be done, which means my title won't be touched. It was all done over the phone. The check should be here this week. They also offered $500 for pain and suffering. I think it's time for a space heater for my garage... |

Denton - you will now need a complete top end gasket set - which includes a base gasket, you'll also need a ring compressor or disconnect at the rod leaving the piston in the cyl., you'll also need new engine mount bolts - see the KV for updated part number - GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Denton, Check the holes where the engine mounting bolts go into. Make sure the bolts don't wiggle or seem loose when you screw the bolt in. Too bad about the exhaust stud. The studs must be interferrence fit, or "Red Death" Loctite. Let us know which one for future refrence. Good luck keeping the girlfriend happy, from 31 years of experience I have found that it is impossible. I am in Escanaba tonight, its snowing like crazy. At the hotel I am staying at a group of 4 muzzle loader deer hunters from Florida are here! |

i disconnected it at the cylinder, so no need for that, but i will make sure to get a gasket set for the top end. will this ever end? and i have an idea it was red loctite syndrome, with a little bit of epoxy, cold steel, JB weld, and whatever the hell else they decided would be funny to put in there. the other stud didnt have the interference fit cut into them. ill give an update tomorrow when i get the head back! |

whenever, you remove the head, it is required by HD/Buell to replace the base gasket, if you do not it may start leaking down the line. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

I've popped off a head on the same Blast motor TWICE without breaking the base gasket seal. Ran the motor that way for a further 15000 + miles before we re-did the whole top end. No base gasket leak. Not saying this is always the case. Not saying you should try. Just relaying my experience. -Saro |

If it was my insurance, it would have taken a week. If the check comes tomorrow, it'll be 1 day shy of 2 months. I had to scramble to get my Jeep roadworthy, otherwise I'd be walking the 20 miles to work. The other guy's insurance company is Donegal in Pennsylvania. The longest USAA (my insurance) made me wait was a week. It was the other guy's fault then, but he had USAA too. USAA offered to take care of the repairs immediately, minus the deductible, which would have been reimbursed after the 1 week wait. You used to have to be military or spouse or child of military. Now, I think, they're letting brothers, sisters, parents, etc. join. I pulled my head once. I used all the old gaskets. Now, my rocker box is leaking ever so slightly. It's gone 10K+ without any problems. Once I get my check, it'll all be new again! (Message edited by Joey on December 07, 2006) |

LOL - I caught a big o rock on the fairing of the red bike today - cracked the heck out of it, so the red bike will now fall even more into the Darkside this next week when parts arrive. This fairing, trim the old brackets for the signals and I'm done.
