Apparently there is an Optimum East that has access to Speed2.com, which is one way to watch the race. Then there is an Optimum West, which doesn't have access... guess which provider I have?

What's the damn point in trying anyway, the winner will be one of two Yamaha's with Suzuki in second place. Third will likely go to either a Yamaha or a Suzuki. YEE HAW!

As you can tell my mood is slightly off today.

Cory West had a engine failure today in Qualifying. He will not be in todays race. But he said he will be back tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up. Was able to catch the race by the second lap.

Every bike in that garage blew a motor. Cory is the only running an actual race tomorrow thanks o EBR.

In the past I have always watched Speed channel for the races but I also do not have Speed 2 so today at their (SpeedHD) DirecTV scheduled coverage it was a blank screen. Can't figure that but can anyone tell me if AMA "live streaming" is actual video of the race or just like AMA "live timing", just a graph of positions. Then I will tune in to the actual time of the race EDT on the computer and do "live streaming" to watch it. Thanks much, Bob

I had no problem seeing the race on Speed. I have Verizon FIOS for cable.Do you live in an area where the race might have blacked out for some reason?

Bob:

I watched the AMA live stream video and they showed the video during practice and qualifying, but only audio during races. I don't have cable or satellite so I'm guessing any future or live broadcasts on Speed will not show video on the AMA feed. So I watched the live timing and listened to the races!

I was watching the short track races last night on live streaming no audio but had video. As soon as the finals came on the video went away and a big Speed logo came on that was the end it was back to watching the numbers go by.

Thanks for the input guys on AMA live streaming/live timing. I'm still learning a lot on this computer. Enjoyed a great audio but no video. Those guys did a very exciting play by play and made it seem as if I was right there watching. Maybe DirecTV SpeedHD channel will air this race Sunday night.....MAYBE, not holding my breath for THAT!

I guess I do need to say something positive, and I agree with Bob, the audio coverage was excellent.

Absolutely FANTASTIC ALL of the EBRs finished right behind Josh Hayes' Yamaha PLUS...... all of those right behind Hayes' finish were V twins. O.K. the fun is over...... shorter tracks ahead, do not dwell on it, regroup and rethink. Erik will prevail

Update on TV/computer coverage. I signed up for free Speed2 streaming thru DirecTV and just finished watching the XR1200 race. It had run earlier but they still had the full race as run live on tape, full quality and great sound. WOW!, almost as good as TV & surround sound. If you don't have it.....get it.

It was awesome to see you track campers again this year. For those who didnt show up you just missed out on another good testing of the bikes. Today it was a clutch fail and a tire slipping on the rim that was the issues. No real problems with the engines for ebr. As for the other team I dont have any details on what they did to the engines. However, they were dressed with electronics on the ones I saw. Therefore, they could have been using this weekend to find the set points on maxes. This is my assumption knowing Daytona is the harsh track for these bikes. You never know. Off to the next races they go I am sure.

I have an old bead locker off a KDX-200 they can use if they want it! ; )

Great to see them out there mixing it up, even if they didn't all finish.

In case anybody is unaware, Time Warner Cable is listing Daytona 200 TV coverage as Daytona Bike Week at 10:30 am Pacific time on SPEED with no mention of AMA Pro Racing nor Daytona Sportbike in the description, at least in the Los Angeles area.

But TWC does list AMA Grand National: Daytona Flat Track racing as Motorcycle Racing at 3 pm and AMA Pro Racing for Daytona Sportbike and Superbike racing at 6 pm Pacific. I guess TW doesn't know a Sportbike from a Superbike.

The knowledgeable source seems to be TVRACER.COM which does know a AMA Pro Racing -Sportbike from a AMA Pro Racing -Superbike and which Race it is, 1 or 2.

One thing of interest I saw yesterday morning was lap times from yesterday's superbike practice session. When I checked, Josh Hayes was fastest (as expected), but Geoff and Aaron were running 5th and 6th fastest, which was significantly faster than they qualified.

Sure seems like they could solve this tire slipping on the wheel problem- that's happened more than once.

Maybe new electronic traction control systems moved the cheese, and the solved problem resurfaced along with the new (measurably) faster times.

Actually the reason was track temps increased alot from the early day of qualifing to when they raced first day and then second day air temps were warmer so the track was better also.

Please don't shoot me for asking this question but is EBR absolutely committed to V Twins in their race bikes and if so why? It's obvious that in line 4 motors dominate the race track under most circumstances and with less displacement. Don't get me wrong, I like my V Twin but I don't race and if I did it would be to win. So why not use a different motor?

Brad (Bjbauer), no ones going to shoot you here for honest discussion. I would also ask "why doesn't Ducati change to IL4's also "to win". My personal answer is: I believe there is still a dedicated group of riders who love V twins for their difference. The looks, the sound and the "not like everything else" out there.

And EBR's as they always have been, are different and exactly what some want. I am one of those and after too many bikes to count I think I am on the absolute best street sportbike out there with my 1125R. Many street riders will want the, greater power and looks of the 1190's but they just might be more race then street oriented. Time will tell.

And lastly, Even if EBR does not take another championship in AMA as they did in DSB they will sell very well with how good they are doing in placing high most races and the reasons I talked about before.

Then there is HERO, more models coming and eventually more sponsors. I believe they WILL be successful even if they do not change to a different engine configuration just to win races.

In terms of coverage here in Alaska anyway, it came on at 0930, scheduled to go to 1200 on Speed. Wasn't listed on their schedule, but on now.

I don't believe ebr is married to the twin. Erik has talked about other engine configurations. He has the freedom to do that now.

I was less than impressed. The EBR machine seems I can't really say but... The guys at KTM seem to have a handle on it they improved a lot over last year. The Yamaha is still light years ahead of everyone else.Usually though when you see a bike SO MUCH better than everyone else with different riders they have an edge what it is???
I hope shorter tracks help but I don't know, Eslick seems a lot better on the Suzuki than the EBR so who knows? I was hoping for a podium but I guess not. I am still hopeful but a little pesamistic at this point.

I am very fond of the V Twin ride and performance for what I do it's exactly right. But if I were racing to win and why else race professionally, I would want the best overall machine I could put on the track. It is an accomplishment for a rider to get on or near the podium but lets face it. In the world of sport and especially pro sport 2nd place is first loser.

As to EBR what a great company and story. I will be looking forward to what is coming out regardless of how they do on the track. I do root for them and it is disappointing to see the results more often then not. I know this was only the first race of the year and the track was not to EBRs advantage. I will hope for better results in the future.
