I just came across them on the net...

Seems like a good solution to my STOCK setup on my X1.

Let me know if ANYONE has had ANY experience with them.

They seem to be priced right at $149.00

Thanks,
Matt.

I'm really interested for them on the S3.

Don't know where they're made but they look OK but just haven't seen one in person or talked to anybody who'd used one.

I've never used one (or even seen one) but I can tell you now you'll need a vented catch-can. That little K&N type filter they expect you to route the breather lines to will leak all over the place.

Good point on the catch can.

I already use the JAZ can but since I don't need the luggage space, I can ditch the huge stock airbox.

If you can post up a review - good OR bad - it'll help the others out here.

THANKS!

Might be a decent alternative to the Force. Curious to know where it's made though... domestic??? (too lazy to google right now)

If I didn't already have a Force, I would be trying one...
Their ebay store site whatever makes a big fuss about how the air cleaner flows more cfm than K&N, but no mention of the elbow itself flowing more or less than Force.

Make sure and look at that place inside where the Force is restrictive, to see if this one has the same problem.

The carbon cover looks sort of cool, like it will really force the airflow into the inlet, unlike the Force open filter where the air can just flow around the filter. I wonder why the opening to it is so small though, and whether it was really engineered, or just styled...

Jayvee,

I looked at the Force... but here in South Ga... it rains all the time... I figured I would be safer with an enclosed filter...

Thats why I looked at the carbon covered one...

QUESTION:
What do you do with the little sensor in the STOCK air box when putting these force type intakes on????

I got an email back from the dude - he said there's a fitting on the intake for the air temperature sensor - just make DANGED sure you order the intake for the fuel injected bike and NOT for a carbureted bike!

Force has a place in the back side of the filter for the sensor.

Slaugher,

THANKS... I forgot to ask him that. I DID order the INJECTED one.

I CANT wait.. I think its going to be GOOD TO GO.

*** I WILL let EVERYONE know how it performs just as SOON as I get it installed and test it.

A good recommendation, but it's only important on carburetted bikes. I had to grind out the passage for the bowl vent on my Forcewinder.

I'd be curious to see if the HBBI intake has a decent bowl vent passage for carbed applications.

Ok...... I AM DONE..

It came into today and fit VERY nice.

I know that my breather filter is a little strange as to its location.

IT IS NOT STAYING there.. My catch can did NOT show up today... and I have a ride coming up Thursday... I just wanted to make sure THIS setup was going to work.

Ok...

Install. VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD. (easy)

Fit and Finish: VERY NICE and TIGHT.

Performance: Here is the FUN part let me explain.

My STOCK setup was crappy...... Little hickups here and there.... but not real bad.

THIS SETUP: I COULD be loosing my mind BUT... I believe that the throttle response got SHARPER.... Second gear has GREATLY improved.

When I say GREATLY improved.... she STOOD straight up and i was NOT trying to do it.

You HEAR it sucking in more air..... kinda strange sounding but cool at the same time.

I have NO idea on horsepower/torque numbers... but THERE IS SOME IMPROVEMENT.

Is is 40 horses and 50 ft lbs...... NO!!

But THERE is SOME GAIN and you CAN feel it. The bonus is... its DIFFERENT looking. I already had people stopping and looking.. INCLUDIND THE COP that i did the SECOND gear wheelie by : )

Good thing I had a badge and gun on.... : ))

Here is the pic... Now PLEASE understand my bike is STILL under construction.... and some other items are coming in this week.

Thanks,
Matt (LEO SOUTH GA.)

I felt a real improvement in mine when I installed my forcewinder.
I just assumed that it was due to having the air temps sensor in the flow of air instead of strapped to a random place (Idiots at dealership)

It's now on the short list of stuff for my S3... thanks for the review... especially your thoughts on installation, fit and finish.

I'll stay with the other filter type but sure looks like she'll work as advertised (and give me a better looking side view than the black breadbox)

Slaughter,

VERY TRUE.... Thats what I really liked the most.

Of course... we ALL want more power... but the look of the "STOCK" air box/scoops looked NASTY....

I NEVER really like them at all.. This setup is VERY pleasing. You ought to see the SHEEPLE (people) here... they look and are like.... WHAT THE HELL is that.

I LOVE IT..... All the "OTHER" bike riders just dont get it..... but they learn REAL QUICK when we hit the back twisty roads.

The bend in the elbow is different from the Forcewinder, this one sticks more, the bend is less sharp. Could that make the performance better too?

What's the inner diameter of the tube? It'd be interesting to compare to the Force...

I can see one advantage over a Forcewinder from the pic. If you lay the bike down on the right side, it looks like the elbow will break free from the carb fairly easily.

I gotta assume the K&N that comes with a Forcewinder has more filtering area though. I wonder if it would fit the HBBI elbow?

DJ,

On there web site they have the filters for the Force setup as well...

I am actually ordering one of the EXPOSED filters as well.

When i get home today at about 5pm.. I will UPDATE with some better photos.

The inside of the elbow I believe is JUST under 3" in diameter. I will measure when i get home.

Thanks
Matt.

Cyclone,

Will Do... I will be off work in a couple hours and will get some photos out.

It DOES stick out a little further than the FORCE system, BUT its NOT bad...

It is LARGER and the Force system as well.
