Help!, Finally talked a friend of 35 years into looking at a Buell and he went to the closest dealer in Houston, who of course, immediately tried to talk him into a FAtNightDogGlide. (you'alls a BIG boy, theat there you-lis-sees is too dang small for you - and hurry up we'alls closing up two hours early `cause it's rainin') Which dealer in Houston is most "Buell Friendly" or do I need to tell him to go elsewhere - he wanted a test ride (also denied) BTW, his impression of the salesman: "he would be real good at selling aluminum siding or something..." I didn't need a test ride for my Uly, i sat on one at a bike show and fell in love, bought mine about a month later. Still sucks they wouldn't let you test ride, perhaps because of the weather. |

it's obvious that they weren't to buell freindly. i got to test ride the tt 20 minutes before closing yesterday, the guy that test road before me on a uly said the bike wasn't fast enough, he was wearing his orange and black windbreaker with his half helmet. the salesman that took him out couldn't understand why he said that because he gave the guy a chance to try and catch up to him. go to another dealer. |

The first 3 dealers I tried before finding a place that really cared. They are out there and the bike's worth the extra effort Randy |

It has taken over two years of reminders to get him to go to the first dealer, I live over 1500 miles from him. I doubt there will be a third try... OK, he probably went to: Mancuso Buell 12710 Crossroads Park Drive Houston, TX, USA 77065 Of the following, which is most "Buell Friendly", or do I need to tell him to go further? Like out of Texas ENTIRELY. Mancuso Buell Central 535 North Loop Houston, TX, USA 77018 (Probably not, looks like the same place) Goe Buell 1350 South Highway 288-B Angleton, TX, USA 77515 Cowboy Buell of Beaumont, Texas 1150 IH-10 South Beaumont, TX, USA 77707 Independence Buell 4101 State Highway 6 S. College Station, TX, USA 77845 Oz "Nobody gets in to see the Wizard. Not nobody, not no how." |

I know the GM at Cowboy. His name is Joey and he is a genuinely good person. Tell him Cameron from Stone Mountain sent you. I'm not sure how Buell friendly they are, but I do know he runs a top notch organization. Or could I interest you in a trip to Atlanta? |

I had the same thing happening to my friend. He has ridden my XB9R several times and got interested. He went to a Cincinnati, OH dealer and did not get the ear of a salesman. He rode up on his Duc 748 and rode away again without getting any attention at all. I do not know how persistent he was but he just told me they were busy. I wish BMC would just weed out the non-genuine Buell dealers. Leave the business to those dealers that care. And those are out there. Asbjorn |

The way Homecoming is looking, I may ride the Natchez Trace Parkway instead. Turn right at Natchez and go to Houston and fix his Sportster for him. (I guess that means I would have to take him to Hot`lanta on the way BACK. Would a `78[?] Sporty or a mint `65 BSA Lightning make a better trade-in?) Oz "Nobody gets in to see the Wizard. I live in Houston. Mancuso has not been a good experience for me. They probably have the biggest Buell inventory in Houston, but don't like to sell them. Service at Independence has been good, but they don't have much in the way of inventory. Goe I hear is the best of both worlds. I've never been there, but keep hearing good things about them. I'd say give Goe a call and see what they've got available. The GM and service mgr. are both reportedly Buell friendly. |

Which Cincy dealer? One of them (up north) did indeed get out of the Buell business. The other, I had both good and bad experiences with. The Dayton dealer is better if he is willing to make the ride there. They had (at lest check) at least one good sales guy that gets it, and a tech (Jeff) that definitely gets it. |

Reepicheep... It was Eastgate HD&B. I used to live there in the 90ies and at the time they were an energetic and enthusiastic Buell dealer. Go figure what happened.... Asbjorn (Message edited by doerman on April 16, 2007) |

I had a bad dealership experience at Eastgate HD. I was up at Cincinnati on Memorial Day weekend and my rear tire was giving up the ghost. I had a six-hundred mile ride home and found EastGate was open and the salesman told me he could change out the tire if his manager would let him take the time off the floor. The manager said no because they were too busy out on the sales floor (ie tee-shirts). What ever happen to rider down away from home! I had to nurse the bike home close enough to meet up a friend with a trailer that took me the rest of the way. I've heard good thing of F&S in Dayton and Aces & Eights by Kings Island. |

Hey Oz; have your buddy ride up to Homecoming and take a demo ride there. If that doesn't convince him to buy one, then hanging with a bunch of Buellers should. (You were at the 20th, you know how much fun he'd have) |

I looked at the Goe HD/Buell website in Angleton and the word Buell is mentioned once, in little tiny letters, on the home page. I live a lot closer to Angleton than College Station, but I will stick with Independence in College Station. I let Casey at Mancuso handle my warranty work. He is good. |

beginning to think that Buells need to go on a traveling dealership venue. Ie we bring the bikes to an event and you buy them there, a traveling, excited, dedicated staff that provides the product, swag, accessories, then rolls to the next town.... I will go if it happens, It would be the closest thing to running away with the circus |

Crusty, To do that I would have to go to Texas and get one of his bikes running - up for a little extra mileage on the way to Homecoming? BTW, do you need pontoons for your Uly today? Oz "Nobody gets in to see the Wizard. Not nobody, not no how." |

Really guys (and GIRLS!), I know that there are more than three BadWebbers in Texas. Please don't let that flickering candle of interest be snuffed out by the typically bad dealer experience. This is a good friend of mine. I really think he wants to buy a new bike but he needs a reason to do it. I am trying to give him a good one. Help me help him. Oz "Nobody gets in to see the Wizard. I'm telling you man, you're just not going to find good Buell experiences with dealerships anywhere around Houston as far as I know. Mancuso has two locations and typically stocks at least half a dozen bikes at each location with more in their warehouses, but you can't find a salesman to give you the time of day at their stores. I don't get it. As for service, I've never been treated so poorly in my life. Independence in College Station has good mechanics and generally treat you good in the service department, but they're pretty small as far as H/D dealerships go. They may keep three or four bikes around at any given time. They also have an 05 R demobike I go over there and play with every once in a while. Nice people, but you'd probably have to get them to order you something unless you just got lucky and wanted what they were offering in stock. They also will not work with you on price at all. I can't say anything bad about Independence, but it's a far cry from what I would call a Buell enthusiast mecca of motorcycles. How about the BadWeb sponsor in Austin? Never been there, but they've got to have something on the ball since they're a sponsor here, right? |

Clown is the GM at Stone Mountain Harley Davidson, the proud sponsors of March Badness. If he recommends someone, I would follow that advice. He won't steer you wrong. So, as he said, check out Cowboy. |

Thanx - THAT'S more like what I needed... I am doing this "remotely" and I don't even know if I can get him to go to another dealer after his experience. - I had intended to send him to Cowboy's on Clowns recommendation... I think I will do that and email him this thread as well. This is NOT a guy that needs "warm fuzzys" or hand holding - BUT - he has an EXTREMELY well developed B.S. detector and one only gets one shot.. Oz "Nobody gets in to see the Wizard.
