Performance Mods!: | K&N filtercharger, 45 pilot, 195 main jet, V&H slip-on, Buell race module, fata$$ uh, I meant racing fork springs. Still working on it. |
Problems/Miles (Please be specific): | ~Rear fender/belt guard cracking - 5000 mi. ~Excessive? (600-800 miles/quart) oil consumption has increased to 300-500 mi/qt, purchased and will install open vent... 5000 mi. ~MUCH engine (mechanical) noise (louder than the stock exhaust @ 60 MPH), fixed. (a few passes to rev limiter in third gear w/half helmet & engine is MUCH quieter - also spent a weekend working on a friends short track car engine...) ~intermittent ignition knock - using ONLY 93 octane premium from pumps with separate hoses. Now isolated to the 3-4K RPM area @ 1/2 throttle & greater - hope to cure it with V Thunder module & ProFire program. ~Right saddle bag inner cracked - right before July 4 weekend!!! (really feeds my paranoia, that). Looks vibration related (I never overloaded it, I don't think you can unless you fill it with nails instead of the shirt/towel/rainsuit/ect. I carry) 12500 mi. ~ Replaced saddle bag inner, four calls to BMC, they refused to "good will" the inner or give me a price break, but hooked me up with a dealer in Ohio (I think - will check and clearify) who was VERY helpful - found me an OLD part # inner (~$100) instead of the NEW part # inner (~$350) and gave me a discount to boot!!! ~Valve cover gasket(s) leaking - 14500 mi. Fixed under warranty - 14800 mi. ($54.00) ~Right saddle bag latch broke - 15800 mi. ~Renewed (suspectedly leaking) intake seal(s) 16000 mi. ~Voltage regulator failed 19500 mi. ~Left saddlebag inner cracked in EXACTLY the same place & manner as the right, while I was on a road trip. I expect to replace one a year. 20500 mi. ~Rear inner fender broken. 24500 mi. ~Clutch release bearing experienced Catastrophic Structural Exasperation, leading to Energetic Disassembly. 24700 mi. ~(H-D)Engine oil filter gasket failed. 24900 mi. |

Why I do/don't ride a Buell: | I wanted a touring bike that had excellent handling and performance, and I was just tired of the "Oh, you own a Jap bike..." routine. |
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: | Lose the Harley dealers (well, some of them, anyway) and why is it so hard to get ANY info/specs on parts & goodies, does HD not want anyone to know? XB12ST |
