Not sure if I should have put this under the thumpers, but here it is anyway.

Just wondering why Buell or any aftermarket has not come out with a smaller rear sprocket, with a matching belt, to give the Blast a little more zip for a little more $$$. It seems to be a simple idea; offer a smaller spocket, matching belt, belt guard and any adjustment for the speedo sensor as a simple "bolt on" package. I know I would buy one. That dirt hill climbing sprocket in the rear does look a little odd.

Just a thought.

Gomo,
They originally had a smaller sprocket. It was recalled - apparently, the stress on the smaller sprocket caused some small number to fail. I assume one could manufacture one of heavier duty, but I'm guessing the engineering $$ would make the price outrageous. Far cheaper to convert to chain, I would think.

One of the drawbacks of using belts is the expense of changing belt lengths compared to a chain.
The belts are molded on a large drum, about 10 feet wide as I understand it, and then sliced into small strips which become the belt.
It is the price of making the drum that limits the availability of different size belts.
