Does anyone know if the throttle cable (open) on a `98 S3T crosses to any Jap bike? Mine broke last night (Saturday, of course), and I'll guarantee that no Buell dealer within 250 miles will have one when I check tomorrow AND Dave has Mondays off and it's 50-50 he will have to order one. I already have more Buell parts in stock than most dealers, but I forgot cables (sigh). I was particularly pleased to note that the open and close cables are two different sizes only at the non-removable threaded ferrule (which fits two identical housing recesses) so it is impossible to switch them if one is stuck somewhere on the road. They are exactly the same length and cable diameter with identical ends - what possible reason could there be for two different size adjusters? Even a cross to a Sportster or harley cable would work, I'm sure the Dealers have those in stock... Oz |

Yep, and THANK YOU!!! It was waiting for me Friday. I couldn't figure out why it was so heavy `till I saw the sprocket locking bar - REALLY nice work! Wish I had had it last Sunday when I did the repair - but I took my time and filed the 1 1/4 or so outer threads that were rolled inward `till I could thread on the (undamaged outside threads of) old nut, cleaned everything with xylene, coated all the threads with red and torqued the new nut `till the corners were slightly deformed and there was just a little bit of metal filings in the socket which is, of course, EXACTLY 210 lb/ft. I followed this procedure as the designers cleverly made the (easily and cheaply) replaceable rotor splines MUCH harder than the crank splines and I now have about .020" extra clearance on the load edge of the crank splines. I waited 24 hours before I rode it (cure time) so it should hold. We'll see. Thanx again and remember, no good deed ever goes unpunished... Oz |

Dave, Above and beyond doesn't even come close to describing you.. Looks like N0307.9 (or H0307.9 or .3 ...) If that's a bad # I can check my part book. I just have the cable with me for matching purposes... Going to see if I can get one Monday AM locally - I borrowed a `77 KZ400 so it won't be more than 200 miles each way, my arse won't take it. I will call them first, of course. Failing that, you will get an order (Any way to move Appleton closer to Buffalo? You can stay at my house...) Oz |

Jamestown is about 2 hrs. from here and a nice ride... They were a great Buell dealer, too. I will call them in the AM to verify physical existance (as opposed to the H-D net) If they have it, I can have the bike up by 1 or so, if not, check your email. Thanks again, and which race? Oz |
