Wow, I thought my insurance was high (USAA covering a sportbike in Europe for $1500 per year), but now I don't feel so bad.

I have usaa and only have liability with 10,000 medical, but I only pay $49 every six months. If anyone is in the military or knows someone in the military, tell them to check out usaa for insurance. Some of you pay more for your bikes a year then I pay on homeowners, a 2003 4 wheel drive s-10, and a 2005 equinox and I am only 28.

i just set my insurance up the other day (2 days after the accident) through State Farm and i'm gonna have to pay $108.33 every month untill i park the bike for winter and then it gose down to $8.49 a month. i don't think that's too bad for a 21 year old with an '02 M2.

Actually, USAA no longer covers motorcycles.

They'll take the info, but the carrier is really progressive ( "drive" insurance ).

But, USAA members get a fairly good price. No MSF discount, but I did get one for my house and cars that USAA covers.

One thing is, if you stay below 1000cc you'll get a much lower rate than 1200+.

I hesitate to tell this story but here it goes anyway...Progressive had my business when I bought my M2 in '99 and my S1W shortly after. Sold the M2, bought an S2T and progressive was still the best price for the coverage provided. When I sold the S1W and brought home a Duc 900SSie the whole picture changed...major rate increase.

Sentry/Dairyland was the only way to go for the Duc. Period, end of discussion. I THOUGHT, Progressive was still insuring my S2T. When I went for license renewal I discovered that Progressive had canceled the coverage on my S2T when I canceled the policy on the Duc...left me without insurance and without written notification of the cancellation. Unforgivable. Thankfully, uneventful.

Sentry Dairyland. Better rates, better service.

Jugallo94 - when did you get your insurance?
I got mine 1 April (no jokes) and they took the info, but the coverage is through Drive Insurance (Progressive).

The rep told me they no longer cover motorcycles, unless they hate me for some reason. Heck, I've been a member since 1979 and they cover 2 cars, a boat, and a house for me. They should love me too much.....

Ok just called usaa to confirm. Here is what they told me.

If you currently have a motorcycle under your policy it will stay with usaa until your policy renewal date then it goes under review. As for discount for msf course they werent sure but there is a question for the underwritter if you have the course or not, so they think there is a discount for the course. guess I will find out in july when I take the course and get my endorsement. I have been a member since 1997, have had seven vehicles insured through them, and have no complaint though. I have had two claims. One for some kids slicing my top open on my 98 tracker, and stealing my cell phone while parked on base. The other was a month after I added my wife on the policy she totalled out a 99 mazda protege. They were great in handling both claims.
