Since several of my parts are scratched up, I've been thinking of either going with carbon fiber pieces or getting them replaced/painted. The thing with paint is that if I do it, I don't want it to look like a Japanese sport bike and I don't want it to be too over the top.

well mine is all white.. if you want to call that custom painted... but this winter i am tossing around the idea of custom flames to match the header... my buddy is a Master painter, and does a phenominal job. And i get the buddy discount.

Probably the cheapest thing is to buy a used/takeoff set of plastics. A yellow S set went for around $150 recently on eBay.
If you do paint, be sure to check the Dupont Surlyn web site to get the paint spec.s: they are a bit unusual, in part because the material is so flexible.
Dupont URL is:http://www.dupont.com/surlyn/
Some of the members have posted useful techniques to polish the plastic, and another one did a very nice orange dye job on a white bike.
I am looking forward to seeing the results of your efforts:-)

Yeah, with plastics, you tend to need additives because of the flexibility. I'm toying with the idea of black with flames. I'm thinking of getting a quote done by Killer Paint. They've been featured on Overhaulin, West Coast Choppers, etc. Given their sudden fame though, I'm sure the price and the time it would take to come back would probably be equal to a full carbon set.

Nice Art,

So, Fiery scenes on tank & panels is called a flame job then, is it?

Following this line of deductive reasoning, I'd like scenes of a hurricane on mine, that'll be a blow job then?

This one's been variously christened by my riding buddies as "Wet Dream" and "The Money Shot". It was commissioned by the previous owner. It's a long story....

An acquaintance of mine in San Antonio sprayed his M2 bodywork with pickup truck spray-in bedliner. Looks cool all knobby and black, plus if it gets a little scratch, it can't be noticed. Sorry I don't have a picture of it for you...
